I am trying to integrate Sublime Archangel into my Bant Exalted deck. Im facing 2 issues during integration. Assume the cardpool is of Modern.
1) The mana base is horrible to play with. With Cathedral of War coming into BF tapped, it wrecks strategy and tempo. Color-screw is a bigger part of this issue.
2) Takes a lot of effort to calculate Sublime AA's exalted triggers.. Judging from its existence in Standard, im inclined to think its powerful. But after playtesting, i prefer Rafiq as its more explosive.
Is it worthwhile the effort and finance to procure Sublime AA into a deck with Rafiq of the Many? Do they play well together?
What format are you talking about? This probably belongs in that format's section.
EDIT: Just saw the bit about Modern. Reading is tech I guess. It should still be there though.

I use BOTH Angel and Rafiq in my Bant Exalted deck. And, as mentioned above, mana is only an issue of finances. I had the same issue with mana and invested in duals.

I find that they work well together (so far).
Kindly share your decklist? My manabase is under construction due to Cathedral of War which seems to be more hindering than useless. Reduce to 3 and still testing.
Usually when Rafiq lands and sticks, its GG. Sublime AA always seems to be a turn slow?!

I am not an authority on deck-building at all, but I love messing with the Bant colors. I am still play-testing this deck, but mana is not usually a problem. Adding the Cavern works nice since most of my friends like to counter Rafiq as soon as they see him (plus adding any color you may be missing).
Cathedral of war does not belong in multicolored decks.
Rafiq is better than Sublime angel in bant because of casting cost. However Sublime Angel is an overall better card as flying is very relavent. Also I believe a mono white deck with silverblade paladin and sublime angel is better than a bant deck with Rafiq.
Have you tried running Shorecrasher Mimic and/or Geist of Saint Traft? Mimic is crazy if it gets double exalted from Sublime, double strike from Rafiq, an extra combat phase from Finest Hour and becoming a 5/3 trampler if you play a green and blue spell that turn, and Saint Traft gets exalted because he's the only attacker declared, plus with Finest Hour you get the angel twice.
Usually, the deck is capable of generating lots of damage 1 turn with Finest Hour in play.
Eg. A 1/1 + FH = 8 damage!
Damage isnt an issue. Color screw is. Also, through playtesting, Sublime seems to be performing worse than Rafiq and i want to confirm this with Bant Exalted players out there.
My playtesting results:
1) Rafiq > Sublime
2) Cathedral of War isnt performing at all.
3) Knight of Glory is great!

I agree 100%. If you need flying, use Battlegrace Angel or just utilize some unblockables. Still, I think I like Sublime, just not in the number I like Rafiq.

Most of the time, yes. If it's in my opening hand it's usually worth a play, otherwise not great in multicolor, I agree. I thought a two-of was a decent amount.

I like it as well. This card and Sublime were my reasons for revisiting my old Shards Bant deck.
What happens if you don't have any other creatures (likely if you're playing a removal-heavy deck, or when your 4-drop comes right after a wrath) when you drop them. Rafiq swings in as a 4/4 double striker. Sublime swings in as a 5/4 flier. Sublime is great, IMO, but she requires you to have a lot of creatures in play. If you have a lot of creatures in play that all have exalted anyways, isn't she really just "win more"? Rafiq works well on his own, or if you have just one other creature, or if you have a big board presence. IMO the colors are much easier to get to play him and he should be included over the angel.

PS: Knight of Glory seems to be a great replacement for Aven Squire.
