Let me preface by saying I am mainly an EDH player, with a side of limited. I do enjoy the occasional FNM, but haven't been to one in several months due to an extremely busy schedule. As my internship is scheduled to end soon, and thus having more free time (specifically on Friday night) I have been contemplating building another standard deck (Recent FNM decks I've played: Mostly Pod, and a Wolf Run Ramp) With Titans and Pod about to rotate, the next logical deck to attempt to build is a Snapcaster variant. I sold the Snapcasters I pulled back in October, so would need to buy a playset.
My main trepidation for buying the Snapcasters is fear of them being banned, or if they will still be as relevant in RTR as they are now. Any advice or insights will be appreciated.
The only format Snapcaster could (and probably wont) banned in, is Legacy. It's not even seeing that much play right now. (Just in some Stoneblade lists)
After Ponder, Gitaxian Probe, Mana Leak, Vapor Snag, Dismember, Gut Shot rotate he loses a lot of his "unfairness" (even tho it's not unfair).
He's going to be a staple forever, so unless u rly need edh stuff I would grab them.

I was going to say 633 storm crows, but they apparently do not have that many in stock, even across all editions. Interestingly enough, there is an edition of storm crow that lists for $3, but they are sadly out of stock on that as well.

Onering's 4 simple steps that let you solve any problem with Magic's gameplay
Whether its blue players countering your spells, red players burning you out, or combo, if you have a problem with an aspect of Magic's gameplay, you can fix it!
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!
If you don't mind paying a little more, you can get judge foils of Sword of Light and Shadow, Thawing Glaciers, and Karmic Guide for $95.97, due to the 20% off Judge foils sale. I plan on buying those myself for EDH.

If Snapcaster is going to be banned in standard, it would be after it went up in price (and playability to the point of being busted), so worrying about banning isn't an issue.
I'd go for a dual for any EDH deck you have, depending on which general you play of course.

Either pick up snapcasters or staples? The only issue with snaps is that post rotation playability goes down (just my thoughts). The Issue with EDH staples that aren't also Legacy staples is that they are very difficult to trade. I would get good EDH cards that are also good legacy cards. Like someone said swords or dual lands maybe?
Spend it all on basic land. Theyll never get banned, theyre usable in every deck, all championship-winning decks have used them, and you can get a ton of them for 95$.
I would suggest Legacy Staples, especially if they happen to be on the Reserve List. To this end, I would suggest perhaps picking up a Tundra or Tropical / Volcanic Island, as those prices are not likely to ever fall.
Going by SCG prices, MP for any one of the three is 90, and SP is 100. Sadly, Underground Sea is about $30 more.

Honestly after reading your opening post..I'd but edh staples (though in your shoes I'd buy a goyf)
Investing 80 bucks in snaps only really make sense if you are a hard core standard format or play nonrotating formats (modern and legacy)
Since this doesn't fit you seemingly, I think you'll get more utility out of a few edh staples

My question is:
Should I,
1. Drop 80 bucks for a playset of Snapcasters?
2. Just buy EDH staples

EDH staples might be a Safer bet for the time being. Who knows what will happen with Snappy in the near future. Just my thoughts, though.
