Sadly, one of my very good friends is a sore loser, but mostly only when he loses to me. He's been playing since Onslaught, while I started in Besieged, so he feels he should be better than me. I beat him in every Limited game we've ever played, and frequently enough in standard and EDH, to the point that he targets only me in EDH. It really is disappointing, as I don't know a way to resolve it out of refusing to play with him, which I couldn't do even if I wanted to, due to us playing against each other so much at our LGS. Its come to the point that he gets mad the second he figures out we've been matched at FNM or Saturday Night Draft. It's not fun for either of us, but I don't know what to do.
I'd flip the table too if my opponent quoted that rule at me verbatim but didn't bother to read the very next one:So in other words your opponent was totally wrong.
I knew he was completely wrong. What is the purpose of giving my creatures 'trample' if a 1/1 can neutralize it. Nonsense, isnt? But he stubbornly defended his argument. I even told him to read the rulings and not whats printed on the cards.

2-headed Giant! Or what i like to call it 2-headed Dragon! In my fantasy point of view, a 2-headed Dragon sounds way cooler than 2-headed Giant.
While I do enjoy me some two headed elder dragon games, it's not really an option in standard or limited. Besides he and I on a team against our other friends is a little unfair.

Cant help you much now.. Maybe be the Archenemy till his rage subsides?

It's possible the player was confused becuase without trample a double strike creature will deal all of it's damage to the blocked creature, even if it dies from the first strike. There is a nonzero amount of players who believes that means the second strike doesn't happen when the first strike kills the blocker. All you really have to do is tell them that they are incorrect and all damage is assigned no matter what.
My buddy told me about this great new format and about how there were preconstructed decks that were supposed to be pretty decent. It looked fun so I picked one up.
He then invited me to play an introduction match using my precon, so I thought: hey that sounds like fun.
The prick, and two other jerks all played ridiculously broken combo decks when htey knew I only had a precon that I hadn't monkeyed around with at all. If stupid combo decks is what EDH is all about, screw that. It's not fun, so I'm not going to bother with it anymore.
Wish I hadn't wasted $30 bucks on that deck though.
it's round 4
i'm 3-0
my opponent is 3-0. i know him well, always thought of him to be a cool guy, a nice dude. i'm playing a birthing pod variant, he's playing an esper-miracle-planeswalker deck.
round one, i take hastily
round two, he drags it out, entreats the angels for 7, and i concede
round three is long and grueling. i ramp into a turn 3 acidic slime, turn 4 metamorph, turn 5 metamorph keeping him at 1 land. top decks a terminus. board wipe after board wipe. eventually i can stick a birds of paradise, and start pumping it up with Gavony Township. i topdeck an Inferno Titan, play it, deal 3 to him, next turn Township, deal 3 to him, and combat for exact lethal.
for the next 20 minutes all i could hear was 'oh yeah, way to luck sack me'. 'good job lucksacking'. 'maybe next time you can play with some skill instead of just getting lucky'
i respond with gems such as 'id rather have a lucky win than a loss'
and so on. and so on. ad infinitum.
it wouldn't bug me except for... the whole thing where.. his deck revolves around miracle cards. things that are only really effective if you get lucky.
Yeah, pricks that love to beat up on a precon deck with as close to a top-tier deck as they can manufacture are....well....pricks.
For that purpose, I tend to have a handful of precon decks around at any given time. You want me to play a precon, here's one for you to fiddle with, too. What, you want me to play a precon and you play your constructed? Uh, sorry, no, thank you. Find another person to just beat on. Have a nice day, by the way.

There's a couple people that show up to the shop I play at any time we do a legacy event, they're not good players and they rage easily. At the last legacy event we had a table (with 3 matches going on at it) flip after game 1 with the guy ranting about how I wasn't playing a real deck and how it shouldn't be allowed.
I played Spanish Inquisition and killed him on turn 1.
see that surprises me, legacy is the only widely played format where combo is not only good but actually requires skill to get the most out of it. If someone can build inquisition and beat me with it I find that impressive.
I deal with them by remembering it isn't my problem until I make it my problem, and I really don't need another problem.
I beat this guy once with my werewolf deck. He was playing pod. He got so pissed that I beat his "real deck" with my "stupid kid's deck" that he left the tournament on the spot. He even lied to the store owner and said he won. I still don't care. Again, it isn't my problem until I make it mine, and I don't need any more problems in my life. I have "real problems" that I need to focus on (like which box of pop tarts looks better, and whether I should wear the grey or blue shirt to work.)

Lycanthropy Awareness Day.
Hoping for a cure, or at least an outbreak.
My boyfriend and his friends are HUGE magic sore losers :/
Hes constantly complaining to me that me and my friend are jerks when it comes to playing. Hes been playing for about 2 years and quite frankly.. He sucks. Ive won every time we've played exept for once and complains the most about planeswalkers..
I usually just log off or walk away when he gets like this. I cant stand sore losers. Ive tried helping him, but he wont let me. so whatever lol.
I'm going on record right now and stating that before the end of 2012 we will see foil dual lands in booster packs (The real, Alpha dual lands). You can quote me on that.
if i win, i'll say something to make them feel better about themselves, cause i know losing sucks,
"Yea, that's game man. I know loosing sucks, but I am sure you are a gentle and satisfying lover."
I generally either ignore them and walk away, or stare them down until they walk away. I do the former much more often, but the latter comes out of me inadvertantly sometimes too, especially if they are 22+ years old and are acting like a 10 year old. I am not going to raise by voice, but my tone and body language are usually enough to make them leave and act like a ***** somewhere else.
And this is probably the reason why there are fewer girls playing Mtg..
If there weren't sore losers I wouldn't have to random hug them, thus alienating any females present. If you want more girls, first we need more random hugs to weed out the sore losers.
Who is going to rage if they know the only reaction they're going to get is a cheesy smile and open arms? And the whole not letting go until they hug back thing. I can't stress enough the importance of this.
I've never had to deal with a 'sore loser' in any meaningful way. I perish the thought, frankly. Yea, losing sucks, but how angry can you be for not drawing into a creature that was featured in Shaun of the Dead, or Legend?

I can't help but smirk when a player walks away mad. I know that I shouldn't be happy about it, but I just can't help it sometimes. Too many players winning and losing too seriously, without seriously understanding the game. They always chalk it up to luck, but much of the time it's the opponent's fault. Most of the sore losers that I've dealt with are ignorant of the fact that they made mistakes, so I don't really feel any sympathy for them.
Now when it's a younger player, a friend, or someone who is more sad than mad, I'm much nicer. I just try to talk to them about the game, what else was in their deck, what they thought about my plays, what they were thinking during their plays, etc. I'll either help them, or they'll explain to me what went wrong in the game. Talking through games is a great way to improve, for both players in the game.
