1) Regular Vintage tournies that draw a good crowd
2) Efficient computer system to look up singles for sale rather than thumb through binders
3) Great loyalty program (billed $x/per month and receive $x in store credit with x>=10), scaling additional rewards based on x, but they are pretty sweet even at the minimum level.
4) If you are a member of bullet 3), you can use store credit won in tournies to enter tournies
5) Free to trade store credit to other players (no cash allowed to change hands though which is understandable)
1) EDH, all days all times
2) We're a group of friendly but unrepentant bastards that have a great time giving each other ****, and the store's fine with that
3) $5 drafts with prize support if you supply the packs
4) Fridge full of Coke

Smile your day could be worse, so I did smile and it was worse.
Undiscovered Realm in Hartsdale, NY (shameless plug)
1. The owners aren't just people running a business. They're players, and they do their best to cater to the player base. They will run any type of event if there is demand.
2. Nightly drafts. You can go to the store any night and there will be a draft firing. They also run older block drafts if there is demand. A few weeks ago they did an Invasion block draft.
3. Late hours. On the weekends, they're open into the AM. They always start drafts after FNM finishes (and all the kids leave), and sometimes another one after that. This past Friday I left at 2:30AM, and when I woke up the next day I saw someone had posted pictures to our FB group of people playing EDH until 5AM.
4. Location. It's literally a 10 minute drive from where I live. Before they opened, I had to either drove across my county to a tiny store that ran drafts once a week, or into the next county which has a very nice store, but much farther away.
5. Food, I guess? I don't usually eat while playing Magic so this isn't that big a deal to me, but there are a lot of takeout places nearby that a lot of the other players go to.
Sci Fi Genre, Durham NC
1. Competent judges & staff
2. Typical prize distribution is to top 50% of the field. (1st/2nd gets less than some other places, but since I'm usually in that 3rd to whatever section, this is great.)
3. Deli is both literally next door and better than most fast-food joints.
4. Somewhat competitive metagame. No true "pro" players and most people play more for fun than focus on winning. But when an SCG tourney or GP nearby the place empties out and a few locals finish well on the larger scene.
5. Weekly legacy tourneys. (Only store in the area that regularly and reliably fires that format.)
Legendary Heights: Salem,Oh
(not in order)
1. Mostly adult (18-40) players
2. Huge and organized selection of commons and uncommons
3. Cases for Standard, Modern, and Eternal formats
4. They buy bulk
5. Friendly staff
I could keep going, but those are the top 5. The downfall is it's in the basement so the cell phone reception is terrible. That might even be a downside actually
1) Very Polite and Gracious (Store Owner always thanks me for paying in cash)
2) Multiple Magic Events Per Week (Both Free and with Entry Fee)
3) Organized; Can fetch you a single in under a minute.
4) Tons of clean space; Store recently expanded into the room next door (strip mall) and now has a great number of tables
5) Easy to work with; Recently agreed to keep the store open a few extra hours each week so my friends and I can meetup and test - it's the most central location.
1. FNM prizes for the top 10 include a free FNM pass for the next week. (There are always over 40 players each FNM, I have been in an 8 free FNM streak lol)
2. All the free lands you want. (With minimum purchase of $5)
3. Great Staff. Very friendly and they always give away stuff.
4. Huge card inventory.
5. Players are very helpful to new players.
1. Store owner is a friend and is very fair
2. The atmosphere and people who go are extremely friendly and fun to be around..even more so than a lot of the other local shops
3. Prices are fair for boosters and prize handouts are on par with WotC's guidelines
4. Pre-releases are always the best time and have a nice turnout (usually 30+)
5. Good selection of drinks, snacks, and table space
Cool Stuff Games (Inc.) - Winter Park, FL location
1) Large FNM's (and tournaments in general)
2) Friendly(er) staff
3) Lots of happy players
4) Large Inventory
5) Big location (it's about to get bigger, hint-hint, nudge-nudge, spoiler-spoiler)
I use to HATE that store when they first opened up. The players were rude and it's where a lot of foul players ended up. Over the years, they've expanded, grown and gone through a LARGE batch of employees. Recently I started going there more often and have become a quick resident of their store.
Everything I once knew about them isn't true anymore. The staff is pretty much excellent at this point, and the players are diverse and friendly. If you're ever in Orlando FL, they're the store to check out on Friday for Standard OR Draft FNM's.
I have the good fortune of having several LGSs to choose from, so I'll do my two favorites:
TJ Collectables (Milford, MA)
1. Friendly, gergarious atmosphere that is welcoming to all players of all ages
2. Wide variety of skill levels present, which means that I'll always face reasonable competition at some point in the night but I also have the opportunity to mentor less epxerienced players
3. Online store has great prices and offers free in-store pickup
4. FNM always gives the option of playing for free and playing for foils only as prize support
5. All drafts and FNMs pay out by record if you choose to buy in, so players don't get screwed on breakers or resort to shenanigans to get prizes
That's Entertainment! (Worcester, MA)
1. The store itself is amazing. It's an old warehouse that's stocked to the brim with records, comics, DVDs, figures, sports collectables, used videogames (Atari era to present), etc.
2. Good prices on singles
3. Prize payout is always store credit (see #1 and #2 above for why this is awesome).
4. Experienced and highly competitive FNM crowd helps me hone my playskill
5. Legacy tourament every Sunday that isn't pre-empted by a Prerelease/Launch/Gameday. I don't play Legacy, but it's nice to know that the option is there for me.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
1-Good Players
2-Nice Staff
3-Good inventory
4-Cheap events (for Australia)
5-It's over a Pizza joint and a Pie Shop. And a sushi shop around the corner.
Cape Fear Games
1. Great Staff - I cannot stress enough that the people working here are helpful, knowledgeable, and pleasant.
2. There's always someone to play with - the store allows people to play whatever games they want, and there's always people there to play with.
3. Great Selection - CFG has always had almost all the cards I needed in stock, and when they haven't, there was probably someone to trade with.
4. Frequent, Competitive events - I think they have some sort of tournament every other day... Monday pauper, Wednesday draft, FNM, free tournaments on the weekend.
5. It's not just Magic - the store also has board games, yu-gi-oh, pokemon cards, some of the more obscure games, minis games... as someone who plays a ton of different games (though few competitively), I appreciate having easy access at good prices.
Comments/Honorable Mention: They are next to a Chinese place, a sub place, and a shopping mall. I can always find a meal if I'm hungry there.

Please do not have food at the tables. We do not need a messy play area. No, you can not use a Sierra Mist-ic to fetch a Batterspill.

Pandemonium Books and Games (Cambridge, MA)
1) Good community of competent players with decent personal hygiene and who are generally pleasant to be around.
2) Prize payouts in store credit rather than packs.
3) Tournaments for all non-vintage formats (Monday legacy/draft, Tuesday sealed, Wednesday standard, FNM standard/draft, Sunday modern)
4) Discounted in-store side drafts.
5) Convenient location for people who don't drive in Boston such as myself (on a corner with a major bus stop and red line T station).
