I wouldn't get too excited, the Vikings punter, Chris Kluwe, actually does play and he got AD to pose for the pic. Still cool that it happened and there is a Vikings player that plays MTG.

of all players on a football team why am I not surprised that the punter.... the stereotypical loner of the football team is the MTG player....
Wizards should take advantage of this marketing opportunity ASAP. Maybe put AP in a commercial dressed up as Koth. Sort of like what Blizzard did with Chuck Norris, and what Assassin's Creed did with different celeberties dressed up as Ezio.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
Kluwe was on the YoMTG Taps podcast recently. He used to play 10+ years ago, but recently started playing causally again when WOTC sent him some commander decks.
Good to see more people bridging the social gap between "nerd" and "jock".
If only we can see more attractive girls bridging the social gap on the same criteria as well. Why do you think that only 5% of Americans are female gamers? I could be wrong but yeah you see where I'm getting at right?

I don't see what's so nerdy with MTG, though when I was younger, it was pretty nerdy in High School. I played Basketball for my School and sporadically through University and I got it pretty bad when I brought the topic up. The stigma was still there. Nowadays, it's gone though, because gaming has become an everyday thing. Every teenager plays at least one kind of game, either TCGs, Shooters, RPGs, Strategy games etc.
Nowadays, I have buddies who play Magic that are normal, decent people, though a vast majority are still geeks/socially awkward etc. I find MTG a much better game than say WOW or SC2, because you actually go out and meet people in real life. The socializing is what makes MTG different from computer games.
Obviously this doesn't apply to MTGO Grinders. I'm really against that unless you are an ultra competitive pro.

Mila Kunis is apparently a pretty heavy WoW player.

i would be 100% behind this, if even as a not-so-serious promotion. AP as Koth (he was actually in that assassin's creed commercial in case you didn't notice), Troy Polamalu as Sarkhan (just straighten his hair for it), Nick Mangold as Garruk, Peyton Manning or Brett Favre as Sorin (since they're both old as hell?). wouldn't be able to do it just with NFL players, since we would need a chandra, liliana, nissa, and non-human walkers like ajani and bolas. i just think that would be a pretty funny idea.

total casual player, I love being able to swing in with a Stonehewer Giant equipped with a Sword of Vengeance, Sword of Light/Shadow, Lightning Greaves, and Argentum Armor. That's not gonna happen anywhere but casual play.

There was a thread last year about this when someone pondered if Stephen King played MTG - http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=225995&highlight=celebrities+play+magic&page=2
"Notables" that people speculated/mentioned were Seth Rogan, Jason Alexander and Wil Wheaton (if you consider him a notable).
Chris Kluwe in particular is nortorious for having nerdy hobbies. His Twitter handle is a Starcraft reference, and he loves Sci-Fi.
Lights claims she plays MTG, but it's up for debate how much of her nerd culture obsession is just marketing.
"ChrisWarcraft" is not a Starcraft reference. He's really into WOW.

Ah, that's right. Warcraft, not Starcraft. I don't actually follow him; I just remember reading something about it on Deadspin.
