Darkslick Shores used to follow me around when SoM first came out. I think I had about five or six at one point. Not that that's a bad thing, but considering I didn't get as many SoM packs as I did, say, ZEN, M10, or M11, I found it a little weird. I also didn't run a lot of black and blue back then, so at the time, they made pretty good trade bait.
On a slightly related note, I've unknowingly amassed a fairly large collection of Lightning Bolts. I always have a playset in my trade binder and I'm using 4 in Kuldotha Red and either 2 or 4 in my ping deck. For a while, I didn't think I had any more until I went through a box of commons and uncommons to find I have an extra 11, 5 of which are from Revised. Suddently realizing you have over 20 of a good common feels kind of cool. Especially if you've only been playing for about a year and half.

I had upwards of 40-50 copies of those things. Got rid of them along with my entire common/uncommon collection and I'm still finding them in my one drawer that I keep Magic cards in. It's like Narnia in my dresser except it's super lame.
Got the person whos collection Im joined with to trade for them to make a deck with a playset of each, found a bunch in a random pile of cards, open them all the time and have them in multiple edh decks.
Made a joke I was going to pull temple bell to someone, open the pack and got a ☺☺☺☺in little jace. IT DOES THE SAME THING! -.-

You use a pain land? Okay, I am now "winning" DEAL WITH THAT
If you cant kill a planeswalker, you are not playing magic.
One out of five M10 and M12 packs I open has a Mesa Enchantress in the rare spot.
Traded some away, built a deck with some more, and still have some left.
This is why I'm not buying Planar Chaos boosters.

Enchantment - Aura
Enchant Creature
Enchanted creature gets +2/+2, has Defender, and can’t @#$% you or a planeswalker you control.

Skirsdag High Priest. I pulled two, one foil, and it could have been a foil Snapcaster Mage. Off by three cards. Then it beats me in two games at the release party. Then my friend pulled two today, one foil. I hate this card.
Common and uncommon wise, I'll find both Qasali Pridemages and Madblind Mountains all over my house, put them in a deck box or the dresser that all the Magic cards go into and they still end up everywhere. Rare wise, Din of the Fireherd, Sangromancer, and Terra Stomper, we had 26 Din of the Fireherds at one point and still have 13-14 after giving the rest away, Sangromancer decided that after we cracked one it would show up in every Besieged pack we open, we have six after trading away four or five of them. We ended up with ten Terra Stompers because my friend wanted some, took them home, forgot to put them into a deck, then needed more because he lost the ones at home.

About any "subpar" mechanics or cards: Context is king.
If I make a templating or grammar error, let me know.
The franchise MtG most resembles is Battlestar Galactica. Why? Its players exist in, at most, a dozen different models at any given point in time, with perhaps up to 3% variation, 5% if you're lucky.
I have Rampant Growths everywhere. Don't even know why, but I'll find them under couch cushions and behind the TV and just about any place where you're not expecting to find them they'll show up.
Selective memory. I opened 4 in the first ~12 boosters I opened of WWK then kept getting more. Luckily a "legacy player" in my area wanted some so I unloaded a playset to him and still have 3 in my binder plus a foil one I think

3 of the 8 packs in the ROE Fat Pack I bought had that as the rare.
2 out of 4 packs I got out of a random FNM that season had it that as the rare as well.

Oh, and Zombie Outlander even though I know I have precisely three of them.
Oh, and for the guy who keeps finding Prickly Boggarts. The art is cool, and I wouldn't mind building a prowl deck, give 'em to me!

i dont even remember their names or what exactly they do - but it's like the 4 drop and 3 drop instant/sorcery that do irrelevant card manipulations

Hahaha, I came into this thread to post the same thing. It's so damn cruel. I have two playsets and counting.
