Why do people keep saying Sakura Tribe Elder? Before the rule change it was awesome, now it serves no purpose as a blocker.
For me:
Guard Gomazoa
Trap Runner- block the unblockable
Commander Eesha
Soul of the Faultless
Sakura Tribe Elder still blocks just fine before sacrificing. It just doesn't deal damage. Seeing as this thread is about chumpblocking, that doesn't matter at all.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
One of my personal favorites (that apparently hasn't been mentioned yet, for shame) is Carven Caryatid.
Not only does it cantrip but it has a very admirable toughness, and with it's two power it can make opponents think twice before swinging at you.
When combined with Unearth lulz ensue.

I was going to mention it, but the others are higher on my list. I used to play Caryatd in several green based combo decks and it works well. That an Traproot Kami were my go-to blockers for a while.
It seems like half the people here are talking about chump blocking and the other half are talking about blocking in general. For example, deathtouch creatures don't chump block, they trade. Wall of Denial rarely chump blocks...it just blocks. Good chump blockers are cards like Solemn Simulacrum that give you a benefit when they chump block (ie. block a creature and die while the attacking creature lives).

What makes a block a chump block? I assumed it was that the creature dies afterwards....
That would mean that every trade is a "chump block." As long as I've ever heard the term used, "chump block" refers to the blocker dying while the attacking creature still lives.

yeah. thus the moniker "chump".
sakura-tribe elder is and will always be the best option in green for a pure chump blocker. he blocks, saving you some life, gets you a land... and he's impossible to remove without giving you some kind of advantage. he's good in a deck with garruk wildspeaker because he protects him while providing mana fixing into other colours.
other colours have their champs. i always liked wall of omens because it stalls their early turns, then buys you a whole turn by chumping against a large bomb in the later turns.

How is sakura-tribe elder the best option? Viridian Emissary looks better to me than it, considering it can open up a Titan to a Dismember (in an ideal situation)
While not a chump blocker by any means, a great card to block with is Serene Master. He turns a creature's power against it (yes, literally), giving it his power (zero) instead. This also makes attack bonuses like infect or double strike that the creature had insignificant because the creature will put zero -1/-1 counters on him or hit him for zero twice. And Serene Master can kill the attacking creature if its power is greater than or equal to its toughness because he temporarily stole its attack power.

I think the new black 1/1 deathtouch does pretty well.
