As of late, My interest in magic has been slowly decreasing. I didnt enjoy alara, and i really didn't like zendikar at all.
Another reason, is my school schedule changed a lot, so i rarely have time with my friends to play casual games. And the tournament environment at my Local Gaming Store is very competitive. So I cant play my weaker decks i built for fun. there (there is no FNM, and i cant afford to play Standered, so the only deck i have available is legacy goblins, and i cant afford to build another legacy deck).
I've been playing since 6th edition and i do enjoy playing the game a lot.
So basically what I'm wanting to know, are there any methods you guys can suggest to restore my interest in magic?
Well if you are sick of playing the same deck, the only real solution is to get a new deck... and you say you cant afford Standard... there are budget friendly standard decks RDH for example.. WW
You also have to consider that is part of life. And maybe it is time for a break until things shift again, which they will. A lot of players go through it. I stoped playing from Urza's Leagacy to Onslought, and even now, I usually just play Legacy and draft. Just don't get rid of your collection and maybe just buy maintance packs. You will finish school, and life will change once more.
DO you have enough old stuff to build a semi functioning cube? Cube is a great way to play magic that is different all the time and is a one time cost.
How does cube work? ive never really heard of it and i have a decent collection (not that many rares, alot of them are in decks) and im sure my friends and i can combine our collections.
Edit: also, we already play EDH, but since my friend built a sliver EDH I've stopped playing it because his deck is too broken for the game to be fun
really. Actually I'm addicted to MtG and I haven't even been playing with anyone. I'm spending hours, besides this board, tweaking decklists and browsing cards for ways to tweak the Planechase decks I play with a family member. (as well as ideas for further decks to go with them) All to be rewarded with the potential prospect of buying the needed cards off SCG.
as has been previously said = there are plenty of budget decks you can build that are quite competitive.
i immediately think of a Pestilence deck that can be built for $6.00 (assuming ten cents per common).

(about the English language) It's kinda like a raft that was cobbled together from parts of three different boats and since then has been kept barely afloat with crude repairs every time a leak appeared.
Get together with some friends for casual tuesdays. Make it a weekly thing. Thats what I did anyway and its really increased my interest in the game again. We tend to rotate between draft, pauper, league, constructed with the ocational multiplayer EDH game thrown in. The first the first two ensure we always see new decks without spending a lot of money. League and constructed give us some consistancy. Really nothing has increased my desire to play competitive magic then devoting a night a week to non competitive.

If you're having a problem with Slivers, you might want to try Jaya Ballard as your general; she can take them out pretty easily. Or Mageta the Lion.

Have you tried Limited? Me and my friends do a casual draft fairly frequently. It guarantees that you're not facing the exact same decks, and while it's got some investment required, it also builds up a new card pool to build different decks from.

There two problems there,1 i dont know anywhere where i can play Limited, and 2, i cant really afford it. right now im trying to biuld up an army for warhammer, and thats eating up my cash.
Building a cube would be your best bet. You can build it with whatever cards you already have so you don't have to go out and buy new cards. And you can build it as you go. Then get together with your play group and draft. You can do 2-headed giant drafts or Emperor drafts. If you guys want a prize pool everyone could throw in some junk rares for prize support.
For a very low amount of $ you could build several new decks. Also try building stuff you don't have experience with, don't play often, or don't play against often. Might make you a better player.
Always play aggro? Make a control deck. Don't have any combo decks? Try one. Don't play much of color X? Build something with that color. Always play new stuff? Dig around really old blocks.
Then, if you like a new pauper build you can always invest more $ to make it better / more interesting / more complicated / more interesting based on how much play time you get.
You might just need a break. I've had stretches in which I hardly play at all and don't buy any new cards for months to a year at a time. Just keep all the cards you like using, few people quit for good.
if you're sick of the same-old-same-old, then get into the other formats. Extended right now is practically Lorwyn standard with all the new stuff. there's sure to be some quirky build-around-me interactions that can reignite some interest.
the casual formats like EDH, and things like Pauper and Peasant offer interesting challenges. hell, even dropping Standard and drafting for a while can get you back into the proper swing.
Take your monoblack deck, then set aside 14 swamps. Add 4 Creeping Tar Pits, 4 Darkslick Shores, 4 Drowned Catacombs, and 2 Jwar isle Refuge and add 4 Jace, the Mindsculptors. Your monoblack deck is instantly better. Better yet, drop those refuges, throw in some islands and some mana leaks, and lo and behold, you're now playing a real deck. Congratulations. Welcome to the world of competitive M:TG.

Basically, you put a bunch of cards into a box, and those cards are all anyone is allowed to use. They can be any rarity, any set, and any quantity. If you have a total of 2000 cards, you can put them all in or half of them in or whatever you want.
When you play with the cube, each player randomly selects 3 groups of 15 cards, then you draft those as if they were packs. I've also played where you get 6 groups of 15 cards and play like it is a sealed deck format. (The only cards anyone is allowed to add are basic lands.)
The nice thing is that you have control of what's in the cube. If you don't like slivers, don't include any, or just include a few so they don't dominate. If a card proves to be too good or too bad, you can remove it.
Cube is what you want it to be and gives you a great reason to use those stacks of cards you never thought you would use. It leads to different decks every single time you play, and it doesn't cost you anything at all if you already have the cards. It could be what you're looking for.
You can always go pauper on MTGO. Also, one thing I like doing too is playing 100-card singleton on MTGO. It's really cheap; I limit myself to maximum $1 per card (some exceptions obviously), and I still win pretty often. The great thing is that most cards that you want can be from 5 cents to 60 cents and still be pretty playable. Since you only have to buy 1 of each card, it makes it a little bit cheaper as well.
