Yeah, I know there's a picture, I know it says "special promo" or whatever, but does ANYONE out there actually have a physical copy, or has anyone even SEEN a physical copy? The description hints that they were given out in San Diego, but no one that I've talked to has actually seen or touched one, and I'd like to know if this card actually physically exists, since thus far there's no evidence that it does.
I didn't hear anything about the card at all but I know at San Diego they had writers from robot chicken there gunslinging. I wasn't judging near there that day though so I'm not really sure what was going on.
I was at PT San Diego, and participated in the "Giant Magic" game with the Robot Chicken writers. I did not see or hear of this card. Writers were gunslinging but the prizes for beating them were 1 booster of either Zendikar or Worldwake, and then an Ajani Goldmane mousepad. During the giant game of Magic the RC writers would ask magic/RC trivia and give out prizes which were DVD sets and a sweater/jacket. One of the trivia questions asked was about the number of cards that had "Chicken" in them, and this card was again not mentioned. I know that this doesn't really help but maybe gives some insight...
It was likely given to the Robot Chicken folk who attended the event, which is why no one else has had physical contact with the cards. I'm trying to find out more about this, and will post any info here if I find it. The fact that it is listed as a special guest promotion makes it the best possible guess right now.
@ Morphling: 100% sure no test print exists. Only a few sets exist in test print form.
@ Jahstice: If you have definite info on the Robot Chicken being an oversized card, could you post some here or PM me about it? Thanks.
@ Immortality: I'm guessing you'd have quite a bit of competition there. I think I'd be in the mix too, as would the OP.

I'm one of the RC guys who was at the show. They sent them to us afterward as gifts, in nice sealed cases. Really nice of them, we were all flattered to see our chicken on a Magic card.
They're real cards, or they look like real cards from outside the case, anyway.
As far as I know, there are only six in existence. At least, six people in our crew each got one. I'd be pretty surprised if any of them ever turn up on the aftermarket. It'd be like selling a personal gift. But we got really nice scans of them up, so anyone can proxy them or whatever.

If this is true, which honestly I don't think it is, could you show us a scan or picture of the card?
It does totally come up under Gatherer if that means anything. Or is that something that was available from the start.
On a side note, I did totally see the card mentioned on Hugh's page. It didn't seem to be a scan, but it's there.
Also, does anyone know what the collector number on the bottom means 42/1138? Are the numbers referring to something that's like totally over my head or some such?

From the picture I've seen on his page (not a real scan like I've asked for, is it gold back?) it has the Unglued symbol. I think the number is a fake, making fun of some of the bigger sets that are out there (in the unglued humor way).
LOL I was just trying to be nice and explain it and now I find myself having to prove something to you. Such is life I guess.
Here's the card in the case in my hand. It has the unglued logo, the back is just like any other Magic card, and look up the numbers if they don't seem familiar to you. I'm surprised 1138 doesn't ring a bell.

That's pretty awesome Hugh, congrats on a unique collectable. Wanna sell it? (just a joke on the selling part, I know I wouldn't part with it) =p

42 is the meaning of life. 1138 is an obscure reference to one of George Lucas' films. He sneaks the number into tons of his products (movies and games).

Everyone knows that good luck and good game are such insincere terms that any man who does not connect his right hook with the offender's jaw on the very utterance of such a phrase is no man I would consider as such.
Thanks for the info. You've saved quite a few people the argument of whether the card was actually produced by Wizards or whether it was a hoax. Hopefully it wasn't too much trouble.

42 is from H2G2, the answer to the ultimate question. 1138 is a well-known number from Star Wars and George Lucas' works.

Does H2G2 refer to Hitcher's Guide to the Galaxy? I know there is some number in there that is the meaning of life or something? Also, I did not the Star Wars number reference, so thank you. I was way off base.
I freaking loved PT San Diego, but it was my first trip to that kind of event. 'Til then, I'd only ever done some FNMs and the WWK pre-release. I just started playing last summer with the Xbox 360 game. It was a little intimidating and a couple vets expected everyone to be able to play at lightspeed, but for the most part I had a blast.
I wish there were more frequent big events like that in the So Cal area.

And yeah, 42 is from Hitchhiker's Guide.
If you loved PT.. there are a few events throughout the year that come close to that. Gen-Con in Indy has a huge magic presence and I'd say is "comparable" to the scope of a PT. Also, both PAX west/east have a huge magic presence as well, easily comparable to what a PT offers, in terms of public events.
as for the card.. it's nice to know they are out there in the world.

I just want people who redraft to admit this:
"I can't draft objectively unless I am able to guarantee that I receive at least 3 rares. I am also better than most average/new players so I want to make sure that I get the best rares and they end up with worse ones. I care more about the monetary value of cards than actually playing the game for decent prizes."

Look me up on Facebook under "Hugh Sterbakov." Scroll down on my fan page and you'll see my iPhone's picture of the card.
Hmmm, tried that, and I saw no picture of a MTG card.
Why not just post it here?

I'm more surprised about people not getting the reference 42. I mean, what self-respecting gamer/nerd/sci-fi dork/LARPer hasn't read the holy trilogy?
