Between the two of them, which is better; Slaughter Pact or Snuff Out. Just kind of curious, I have a Pestilence-Stuffy Doll combo on modo in which I run the Slaughter Pacts, but I've started to wonder about using Snuff Out instead(since it was in the GvL duel deck, it's now on modo).
I agree - definitely snuff out in just about all situations.
But if you have 4 life or less, you can't use snuff out. Late game, you are most likley going to be able to pay the Slaughter Pact cost instead of the Snuff Out cost.
Hmm...so maybe like a 2/2 or 3/1 split? Life is kind of an issue in a combo deck like mine(tho I can go off and combo out as long as I have 1 more life than them), unless I can land the Vampiric Link combo on the Doll. Pestilence deals 1 to me, Doll, an opponent, Link triggers when Doll deals 1 to opponent, I gain that 1 back.
It's actually Withering Wisps since Pestilence isn't on modo, but it's functionally the same since I run all snow swamps for it(and it's cmc is actually 1 less than the former).

Hence my qualification.
Late gate I'd argue that the mana cost becomes far less relevant.
Further, I'd argue Snuff out gets even better comparatively because you can pay the actual Snuff Out cost on an opponent's turn, thus not committing any mana during your turn. not so with slaughter pact.

Well, that's the point of life. Life is a resource just like mana. As long as you have enough to combo off, then it's all gravy.
Think about it this way, hypothetical. turn 4 pestilence. done. opponent: Some scary creature. you want to drop stuffy doll turn 5. You can kill the creature now and pay 4 life or pay 3 your next upkeep. Snuff out lets you cast stuffy doll the next turn, slaughter pact does not.
Also, unless I am daft your math is funky. Pestilence with Stuffy Doll out deals 1 to you and 2 to you opponent (via stuffy doll), no? So that means you need 1/2 your opponent's current life total + 1 to win. (aka, they're at 8, you're at 5, pestilence for 4, you win). Of course this is ignoring the fact you could tap stuffy doll in the event like "they're at 9, you're at 5" and still finish off your opponent. Wait, that's a 4 point life spread.....(snuff out, what?)
Either way, slaughter pact (and all pacts) open you up to scary stuff on your end and also force you to spend mana during your turn, which is something you'd prefer not to do if possible.

If you have 4 life or less, you're at a later stage in the game. You can just cast Snuff Out for its actual cost.... and it only costs 1 more than Slaughter Pact.
Snuff Out can be cast early game or late game with minimal drawback; Slaughter Pact can only be cast T2 or 3, and only safely T4 or so. Also, you have to commit mana to Slaughter Pact on your turn... which kinda sucks...
Unless you're playing BW with Angel's Grace or some nonsense like that... Snuff Out will generally be the better choice.
Alright, so the general consensus here is that Snuff Out > Slaughter Pact. I was kind of leaning towards this direction myself, but this discussion has cleared it up. Thanks guys.
Slaughter pact is better in slower decks because by the time you need to cast the spell, you already have enough mana to pay for it. And on slower decks, your life might already be too low to pay for snuff out.
On the other hand, in a combo deck that goes of on turn 2 or 3, you will likely have plenty of life to spend, so snuff out works. The exception would be ANT decks, which should use slaughter pact, because snuff out's life cost is just too much.
In pestilence+stuff doll, use slaughter pact. Not only is it a slow combo deck, you are shaving your own life via pestilence. There's a very big chance that snuff out's alternate cost will hurt you more than you intended.

By the time you could pay for Slaughter Pact, you'd be one mana away from playing Snuff Out. Also, Combo decks don't like wasting mana on their turn unless it helps them combo out. Thus, for Pesti+Stuffy, SO > SP.
