Lets all share our tales of old.....What was your first deck? That first one
that you sat down at the table with, took out a bunch of cards, and assembled them, thinking you'de totally own all of your loser friends with them the next day.
Mine was an affinity deck which i built randomly and i actually got pwn so of my friends which after that they got mad figured how to stop it and never won again with that deck lolz
An inordinately unfocused green stompy deck that my uncle helped me build. Of course I eventually learned the value of things like tempo and card advantage, and after that it became much better. I think I may still have it lying around somewhere...
Mine was the Nuts and Bolts precon deck. I bought like 4 of them to ensure I had 4 of's all the best cards from it. My best friend got 4 of the Orochi deck from Kamigawa. He still has it somewhere.

every black card i owned from 4th edition, fallen empires, homelands, ice age, and chronicles that got 3 stars or more according to the rating system at the back of inquest magazine. it was a 100 card deck, and it actually won 2 of 3 games.
clearly this was back when these sets were new, before alliances even came out, or maybe around the same time? i don't remember if homelands was before or after alliances. either way the deck blew ass.
The oldest deck I remember playing was something that ran an amount of blue, and layed the beat down with Breezekeeper. I think my first precon was the UG deck from Urza's Legacy.

I love when I can reply to stuff with "trust me, I know goats"
Oldest deck i can remember playing was a blue green homarid deck. Man i love my early crab lobster thingys. It was chalk full of good a/b/u stuff to break the game(no power though). After that i got back in during urza's saga in high school then stopped after prophecy and came back when shards came out. My second oldest deck i made was all walls and just made games take FOREVER. it was great.
My first deck was the Mortal Coil theme deck from Shadowmoor. Sadly, being a new player, I wasn’t familiar enough with the rules (or the intricacies of the combat phase) to make effective use of cards like Leech Bonder.
The first deck i bought was the U/G Threshold deck from Odessy, then I got the GBW Deck from Planar Chaos, then the fist deck i built was a R/G snow deck, then a W/U snow deck.
However, in today's culture of Justin Bieber, Jersey Shore, and Twilight, where every song on the radio, every program on television and every site on the internet is just another monument to the pinnacle of human stupidity, it's certainly not the worst thing that people could be watching.
my first ever precon of magic was the Legion expansion precon Sliver Shivers.
From that precon i evolved it into my first deck, 5 color slivers.
it was mostly singleton with winged, toxin, talon, brood, essance, and shifting sliver, 2 sliver overlords and harrows. There were other cards but Its been about 7 years since i had that deck so I only remember the important ones.
ahhhh, sliver decks the "noobtube" of magic

Currently Playing Standard : Mono Black Control
Pauper : Mostly U/R Post but also every deck except infect, mono green aggro and tortured existence.
Back during Invasion I had a several hundred card 5 color deck, that was essentially just every card I owned in a pile. When I built it, I thought to myself, "There isn't any reason NOT to run this card." and I just put it in. Took it to school and got stomped fast.
Then I cut it down to a 120 card Green/White stall deck, that just gained life, dropped fatties, and threw auras on everything. I eventually started going to FNM and found that even after cutting so many cards it was still too many. So I went home and cut it down to 75 which is where it stood until I gave up Magic until something like Time Spiral came out.
Unfortunately every try hard from Sacramento to Shanghai preaches from the top of their 27 lands + Mana Reflection that Tooth and Nail and Time Stretch are fine to play in the same turn but Armageddon is unfair.
My first first deck was around the release of Mirrodin and it was a mono black jank deck built for me by the guy that taught me, I don't have a clue what was in it but I loved that deck because he made sure to put some neat stuff in it... I'll have to ask him what was in it.
The first deck I built however was a white Samurai deck that was terrible and bloated, I used some really weird cards like that which was taken (which is still one of my favorite cards to bust out of the vaults and play on my buddies).
A black snake basket deck with Wicked Reward when Visions came out. The deck was so awsome till I realized I was a big cheat. I was sacking multiple snakes to it to get the +4 +2 with each sac. Its almost as bad as attacking with walls lol.

Mine was a crappy artifact deck from mirrodin

I've adapted it enough to call it my own, and I still run it.
It's been changed about a million times and now has almost none of the original cards in it (except Megrim of course) and has splashed blue.
Oh, the memories.

Force of Nature and a lot of other huge green creatures...I used to only play green back in the day.
