So with the new Garruk vs Liliana Dual Deck being released, I just wanted to see how the rest of you make use of dual decks. Do you try to keep them together to play games with the decks as they are? Do you modify them with existing cards? Do you just break them apart and use the cards for other decks in various formats?
The only dual decks I've ever bought were Divine vs Demonic. I found that with that one the Demonic deck was stronger than the Divine deck, so I modified them to make them more evenly matched and also added some other things to give both of them a boost. I keep those two decks separated from all my other stuff. I basically will break them out for a fun game here and there. They are also great if you want to play a game and have someone else who doesn't have a deck on them.
My friends and I break out the duel decks now and then for kicks. I try to keep them together (same with the Planechase decks) unless I've stolen stuff for other decks, usually EDH.

I always try to upgrade the decks, because I can't stand a deck being purposefully cut off from its potential. This comes from an old habit when I barely played of taking a precon and using it as a base for my latest deck.

Wow. I think you're the only one who came to this decision. I along with everyone I know finds the Divine easier to win with (in duels between the two.)
As far as the question, I have kept my Elves/Goblins decks together, One set of two of the Divine/Demonic decks together, and I bought a Jace/Chandra set which, aside from the two foils, contained two Chandra decks. I ripped those apart. I have three Garruk/Liliana decks coming, and I don't know if I'll keep a set together or not, but two of them are being cannibalized.
Question: How much do these cost? (Where can you get them also with a deck list?)
With decks/duel decks, I normally keep them together a bit and after playtesting with them, take cards out and then put them into one of my many decks. (For Garruk/Lilliana I'll use them for my green deck and black deck (that is, if there are any use-worthy cards))
I bough the G vs L one yesterday to cannibalize for EDH decks, there's some good commons and uncommons I needed to unproxy. Plus, having another garruk never hurt, even if he is butt ugly with the new art :/

MSRP $20, and that's basically what it's going for. Comes with a decklist, if you want to see the decklist without buying the item, google it.
I'm keeping the Garruk deck together because I don't need any of the cards from it for my decks. I'm cannibalizing the Liliana deck for my Casual Vampires deck (I took the Liliana, the Hideous End, the Bad Moon and the Doom Blade. The Moon and the Hideous End might end up being taken out, though.)
Cards with the post 8th Edition, color shifted and future shifted templates as well as the timeshifted and Coldsnap reprint ones tastes a little sweeter. Any gold cards with the old faces are a little saltier. European foreign (except Russian) cards with the mentioned templates above are not as sweet as their English counterparts and has a wierd after taste. All taste tests were done from fresh packs and all cards tasted are not foil cards. I have yet to taste Asian and Russian cards.
Whenever I buy precon decks of any sort, I keep them together in their original form. Other people I know usually just customize them with their own cards to make them play smoother.

"...because without beer, things do not seem to go as well."
I have cannibalized 1 jace/ chandra and 3 divine / demonic decks. That D vs. D had to many good cards!
I still have one deck of each that I keep stock. My group played with them once and they haven't been touched since...
As for Planechase, I bought the artifact and R/W decks and have drastically improved them. Basically taking out any 1 offs and making them legacy format decent.
After looking at the decklist for Lilliana/ Garruk I think I'll only buy to play stock at some point. The only valuable cards in there are the planeswalkers themselves. I'll proxy them and take them out.
Current decks:
Legacy: Zoo, Aggro Elves, The Gate, White Weenie, Red Deck Wins, and Merfolk. Currently building Solidarity.
Casual: Warp World Revolution and Old School Red-Green.
Standard: Ob-Nixilis Wave and Elves.

"In another life, in another dream,
By a different name,
Gave it all away for a memory and a quiet lie.
But I felt the face of a cold tonight,
Still don't know the score,
But I know the pain of leaving everything very far behind.
And if I could cry,
And if I could live,
What truth I did then take me there,
Heaven Goodbye."
