I live in San Antonio, TX and all of the local card shops such as Heroes & Fantasies are selling FTV:Exiled for $90+ or another like Gamelot and are using it as prize support with a $10 entry fee.
This is BS! Wasn't the point of only allowing B&M stores to sell them is to avoid ebay dealers and now the store owners turned into them, with tax added on top!
Is there anyway to rat these crooked dealers out to Wizards in the hopes of forcing them to price accordingly?

My LGS is selling it for 99.99 because that is what star city games is buying it for.
the FTV sets are somewhat "gifts" to shop owners, as wizards creates a very limited supply, and the demand is obscenely high. shop owners can charge ~$100 if they want to, because people are willing to pay it.

You should suggest they drop their price then, SCG is now buying it for $60.

My B&M sells it for $99, and we had people remarking on how good the price was. They had a couple left at last check though. Another local place had it for $80 and it flew off the shelves.
I picked up one copy for 5000 yen (~$50) and passed on one at another store for 6800 yen (~$68). About half the stores I went to just told me they were sold out, meaning they are probably hanging on to their 22 for certain customers or resale at a later date.
I think it's really good of WotC to throw their B&M supporters a bone like this. If they make a little extra scratch from a set like this, I'm cool with it. After all, most of them organize tournaments and/or provide gaming space for us.
Understand, Dredge is not really a Magic: The Gathering deck. When a card is playable in it, it doesn't mean it's a tournament playable card. It means it's playable in whatever crazy fantasy world that Dredge operates in.
The B&M I go to sold it at MSRP. This is most likely the smartest move in this day and age, really. B&M stores operate with more costs of being in business than online retailers and as such can't provide as many discounts as online retailers. While this might indicate to some that marking up products is the best plan, that plan would tend to push customers towards online retailers. Stores that instead sell things AT MSRP will still be more expensive to shop at than online, but customers wouldn't be able to cite obvious gouging as a reason for no longer shopping there. B&M game stores have to put a strong emphasis on customer service and foster the gaming community in order to keep customers coming back (and bringing friends). Kinda hard to do that when the store owners are quick to take advantage of any situation in which they have their customers over a barrel.
Cards with the post 8th Edition, color shifted and future shifted templates as well as the timeshifted and Coldsnap reprint ones tastes a little sweeter. Any gold cards with the old faces are a little saltier. European foreign (except Russian) cards with the mentioned templates above are not as sweet as their English counterparts and has a wierd after taste. All taste tests were done from fresh packs and all cards tasted are not foil cards. I have yet to taste Asian and Russian cards.
Selling them at MSRP just means that half the buyers will flip them on ebay. I don't understand Wizards' reluctance to price these realistically.
Well, there is where your wrong. Wizards CANNOT price anything. (Unless they sell it themselves). This is called Price fixing, and is illegal. Read up on it at wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price_fixing) and also pay special attention to the Sherman anti-trust laws.
With that said, MSRP stands for "Manufacture's Suggested Retail Price". They cannot set the price, hence the "way around" this is Suggestion. Yes, many stores follow that MSRP. But, when you look at M10, it goes higher than MSRP right now due to demand.
Besides, this is a bone to the Physical stores. Some want to make their customers happy (like my local one, who sold them at MSRP, 1 per loyal customer, they held on to them for us) and others who will charge through the nose for profit.

I actually feel this is a serious problem, the E-bay thing I mean. This is product meant to go to customers in B&M stores, not meant to be E-bayed to the highest bidder while those who walk into stores are told "Nope, we're not selling it".
I mean, imagine what would happen if a chain store had been E-baying it's PS3's and Wii's instead of selling them in the store. Nintendo and Sony would cut them off.
Something's *really* wrong when a limited edition set is withheld for E-baying instead of being sold in B&M stores when the intent was for it to be sold in B&M stores and not online.
As far as being prize support goes, I can actually get behind that. It's a damn fine prize, worth competing for.
Well, it was actually sold in store here with a special preorder price for loyal customers. Of course, it was basically free to most of us that come often due to the massive accumulation of store credit from all the events. I actually paid less than a fat pack for it.

They're just helping out the B&M stores by doing this. One of our shops was selling it at MSRP and sold out immediately, I preordered it and am paying more than MSRP, but not a whole lot. I don't mind paying a bit more, the local shops are competing with each other for business, and that keeps their profit margin lower than they'd like, so these things coming through every once in a while really helps them out. I'm all for it.

Wizards can still set MSRP at $100 and offer them to stores at $20 if they want, right? And yes, I understand Wizards isn't technically setting the price, because legally they can't; I'm not stupid.
My local stores also sold them at $100 a piece due to the fact that star city was buying them. But at the same time most of them sold out anyways. In my honest opinion, stores selling them at MSRP were stupid. Think about it, if you could earn an extra $65 to help keep your store running would u not.
I like how most people have no qualms about buying booster boxes 60-70% of retail off of sites like eBay, but then whine about enforcing MSRP on other products. You can't have it both ways, buddy. This is how the B&Ms can recoup some losses that eBay takes from them.

B&M stores can price however they want. They can price it above MSRP, or below MSRP, or at MSRP.
Selling above MSRP will result in greater revenue. Every business wants to make money, and this is how they do it.

I think WOTC should release more. Not tons, but more. Or raise the MSRP. Just make stuff make sense.

Welcome to the Market place =)
Wizards prices them so low so that the stores can jack up the price IMO. Its kinda like a gift to the stores that keep them in business.
EDIT: and its not like $35 for 15 cards is such a great price.
