OK, So I came across a rather funny yet interesting convorsation online the other day about MTG coming out with a "Destroy Target Planeswalker" Card now obviously this is more than likely just a rumor but I wanted to ask your opinion about whether or not you would think that it would make magic more or less fun/appealing? Obviously this type of card would just be to tempting not to play.....or maybe not? What do you think??
It would be a wasted card. There's plenty of ways to deal with planeswalkers as is -- attacking, burn, oblivion ring, bounce, counter, vindicate, pithing needle, etc.

I don't have any hard numbers on this, but I'm targeted more often than a black guy driving a beat-up sedan with a broken tail-light and no license plate, and Cy's well aware of that.
Boring design, I'd rather not see that type of thing (and yes I know it's along the lines of every destroy target artifact, enchantment etc. but still it's different as it's printing one card for the existence of just a couple of PW's). And it would probably just be in every SB because that type of effect would be cheaply costed since it's so narrow.
And of course the same applies to the other effect people are talking about: Removing loyalty counters from a target: it's just so narrow and boring.
There was an article on mtg.com last week that talked about that topic. That's probably the reason people who didn't read properly think they're going to print that now.
Anyway, there's no need for that really. It'd be a pretty narrow card that wouldn't be played anyway. There's so many good ways to deal with them already and honestly, I'd rather have more cards like Rootgrapple than a plain 'destroy target planeswalker' card.
The article was far from saying, "We are going to print a 'Destroy Target Planeswalker' card". Magic was saying they would not do that for two reasons. First, it doesn't fit the flavor of Planeswalkers, since they are based on loyalty, not on life. From a game mechanic standpoint, it's too straight forward and bland. Instead, they said they would consider putting cards out that more or less destroy a Planeswalker, yet have other functions outside that scope.
One example being along the likes of, "deal X damage to target permanent where X is the number of counters on it". It would certainly hit the bull's eye on a Planeswalker, but it has a function outside of it.

That's why I said someone who didn't read properly, like only skimming through the article to see if it's interesting to him and deciding it's not. They'd still see the poll at the article's end asking if they should print "destroy target planeswalker" cards.
"Destroy target planeswalker" = lazy, inelegant, counter-flavor, downright stupid design and a transparent appeal to scrubs who are scared of Mythic Rares. If they ever made such a card, that would be cause for a boycott (and I have never considered anything else cause for a boycott).
I can't see something like that coming into the game unless planeswalkers were much more broken then they are currently. Such specific hate against a single card type especially since planeswalkers are slow and managable by other means doesnt seem plauseable. Even Bolas in all his mighty glory isnt gamebreaking enough to be a serious enough threat to have a card in the same set that kills him in one shot...
