So I picked up a couple copies for friends that I'm trying to get into the game. I'm noticing that there seem to be different rules though. Take for instance exhume. I asked on here if I could cast this guy even if there wasn't a creature in my opponents graveyard and was told that the card would fizzle because of an illegal target. The way peel from reality works if opponent doesn't have any creature to bounce; it fizzles.
However DotP lets me cast exhume and put my creatures out when there aren't any creatures in opponents graveyard. I can also play activated abilities of my creatures with summoning sickness it just won't let me use those abilities if it has to tap... Like putrid imp. It'll let me summon him and then use his ability, but if my opponent attacks with a flier it won't let me use his ability to give him flying UNLESS I activate it BEFORE the declare attackers. =/
Other than that I've always liked prebuilt decks and playing against friends with those so this is pretty cool. Just wish I didn't have to unlock all those decks through campaign =/
Exhume doesn't target anything in a graveyard, so regardless you can play it whenever you want. So what you described is true even in paper magic and is a basis of most reanimation decks in general.
With the purtid imp thing, his activiated ability does not require him to tap, so you can do it on the turn he comes into play. I am not sure why the game is not letting you use his ability at instant speed tho.
For some reason I had always thought that you can't use activated abilities of creatures even if they didn't require it to tap. Today I learned, eh? Thanks.
