Specifically for Cockatrice, I want to customize the artworks for some of my cards because:
1.) I'd like to add Vintage Masters artworks for my Vintage cards
2.) Ever since the Oracle was restored, it's skipped out on some important artworks, including [card]Lightning Bolt[card].
I've done some online research, and most of the information comes across as dated because I can't find the folders I'm asked to find. Any help is appreciated.
First way:
- Click Card Database > Edit sets.
- Rearrange the sets by dragging and dropping, so that the ones on the top have priority when requesting the picture for the first time. I usually keep Zendikar on the top so I can get the full artwork lands and, then organize the other editions chronologically. Tip: When searching for a set, for example, Zendikar, click "Z". You'll jump right to that set and don't need to manually find it - it saves a lot of time.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you use this method, make sure you go to your picture database and delete all of the pictures so that the Cockatrice client needs to download them again. If you did not change the default settings, you can access your Picture database opening Finder and then Go > Go to Folder and insert ~/Library/Application Support/Cockatrice/Pics
Second way (the manual, hardworking way):
- Click Cockatrice > Preferences.
- Check where your pictures directory is. If you selected another location other than default, ignore the next 3 steps.
- Open Finder
- On the Menubar, click Go > Go to Folder.
- Insert ~/Library/Application Support/Cockatrice/Pics
- Locate the picture of the card you want (keep in mind the card is in the subfolder of the set it was printing and, if it was printed multiple times, in the folder of the set that appears closer to the top on your card database (explained in the first way).
- Go to any website where you can download the picture of the card you want (I use magiccards.info).
- Drag the desired picture to the folder the picture assigned by Cockatrice is.
- Make sure you delete the old picture and rename the new one with the same name the old picture had. It should be something like this:
CARDNAME.full or CARDNAME.full.rpg
PS: I did this in Mountain Lion. If you use any post-Lion OSX, it should be the same default folder. If it is not, try /Library/Application Support/Cockatrice/Pics (without the ~).
If you need anything else or any help, don't be afraid to ask me
