[Official] Cockatrice Thread

  • #1
Starting today, this thread is to be the one and only, official support thread for Cockatrice on MTGSalvation. All questions about its use should go here. If you know the answer to a question, please answer it and help out your fellow user.

Patches may be announced here, but can have their own threads as well.

Hopefully, in time we'll be able to assemble a list of FAQ and their answers, and add other useful content to this thread/OP.

    Cockatrice Links:

    Cockatrice - Main site.

Woogerworks - Where Cockatrice is now hosted.

Cockatrice Game Finder - In this thread you can post your game of Trice so other people can join you.

Having trouble with Cockatrice and DKA cards...

On the main website it says to just run oracle and download dka. Well ive done that about 7 times now and i have downloaded cockatrice again. I have every other card in mtg just not DKA cards...

Reading some of the cockatrice forum posts i see that other MAC users are having some of the same problems...could that be the reason why im not getting anything?
  • #3
only problem Ive had was tragic slip... and thats just a weird card image. anyone else have that (like 2 cards squished together?)

Also Im really happy cockatrice got its own thread finally!

It likey has to do with the firewall of the school. Happens to me too here at scad. Had the same problem with my gf's connection, but when I actually went into the wireless, then changed some settings, its worked fine.

could you tell me exactly what it is you changed?
  • #7
not for the life of me. It was more trial and and error than anything else

This may or not belong in the support page, but could be useful to others. I have a good idea on tappedout's drafting, but is there a similar way you could practice sealed play?

Hey guys. Is there any way to play on cockatrice through lan (not going through one of their servers)? We tried changing the 'host' on both to the same ip hoping it would go through our network but it didn't seem to work. Any experience here?

Curious if you anyone knows why some tokens are supported - i.e. you get a Spirit Token when you type in Spirit and why some tokens are not supported i.e. you type in Soldier?

That's might be to do with the images you have saved in your pictures folder, and what you name them. Try looking in the picture directory, and maybe checking for a folder named "Tokens" or "TK" or something similar.

Cockatrice doesn't support limited at all.
They recommend you go to another site that supports drafting and import your deck after you have drafted.

That's entirely subjective, but from what I can tell Cockatrice routinely has more players/games going on at any one time than MWS has.

It depends what type of crowd youd rather. MWS as more "serious" players testing, while cockatrices base is more varied and out going. That being said, cockatrice has been gaining more and more steam, and in the single year its really been out, has managed to rival workstation. Personally I just think cockatrice's program is built way way better, and has a tendancy to listen to their users more.

(Note: double post due to the above being me answering a question, and this post due to me asking one many days later)

So I have the updated Oracle for new AVR cards, but they still have some odd pictures. For example Cathedral Sanctifier appears as a page of cards. How do I update pictures?

Is there a portable version of Cockatrice? The only computer available to me is my brothers, with that annoying admin stuff. I want to get around it by placing the files on a USB, but I just can't find a version that works. I know one is kicking around, but I just can't find it again. Anyone have a link, or a workaround?
