I have to clarify this issue: Tappedout USED to have an OCTGN export feature, but Wizards recently had a cease-and-desist blitz on all the MTG sites and the owner took down export options for ALL MTG programs (MWS, Apprentice, OCTGN, etc.) just in case he was targeted.
You'll have to export as MTGO (magic online) then use the deck converter to get your decks.
MTG Game Definition version 1.0.2 has just been released, get it here!
What's new in this update:
* Cycle card - same as "discard from hand" but announces that you want to cycle the card instead of discarding it
* F1 (Untap All) now removes the red Attack highlight and the yellow Block highlight. The white "does not untap" highlight will still remain.
* Add ____ Counters are now nested in a submenu
* "Add a Counter" moved from CTRL+Z to CTRL+0
* OCTGN no longer crashes when a player doesn't have the Markers file installed (it just adds a default marker instead).
* Go To ___ Phases are now nested in a submenu
* "Activate Card Ability" makes a return, hotkey is CTRL+Z
1) Would it be possible to be able to add a function (similar to the mibbit website and Skype) that allows each other player in the game screen to be able to "see" when another person is in the process of typing something? For example, in mibbit the users name appears red so you know they are typing something and on Skype you can see the word 'typing...'. This might alleviate some written conversation confusion i have experienced and seen others experience.
2) It would be great to be able to manipulate cards in the "Look at the top x cards of library". For example, in this screen be able to right click on the card and;
*Move card to the top/bottom of owners library
*Move card to hand
*Discard card
etc
Also is there anyway to manipulate the screen size and by this i dont mean mouse scroll as this makes the cards/screen appear bigger but then some cards get "lost" below the border of the screen. If an opponent moves cards away fom their "middle battlefield" it can cause the screen to shrink and then "mouse scrolling" to make it larger causes some of the cards to disappear below the horizon - so to speak. I hope this all makes sense, it is hard to explain but the issue can be frustrating especially with multiple opponents who are bringing tokens into play (and they appear randomly in places, sometimes causing this "shrinkage" to occur) and more and more land and/or creatures/artifacts etc etc and the screen gets smaller and smaller.......
It would be good to be able to CRTL+mouse scroll and enable the icons to become larger but still fit into the screen, if this is possible....
You can find all downloads for MTG (as well as other games such as VS System and WoWTCG, more games are being added soon) here: https://sites.google.com/site/octgnsets/

It's not entirely obvious, but each "zone" has a pre-defined hotkey that works anywhere in the program - in play, in your hand, and in the "view pile" window. If you right-click a card, and go to the "move to" submenu, you can see these hotkeys as well.
Move card to:
Library - CTRL+Y
Hand - CTRL+H
Graveyard - DEL
Exile Zone - CTRL+E
In addition, if you hold ALT as you do these actions, it will put the card on the BOTTOM of that pile.
yeah I have to update that, not much has changed in terms of hotkeys though since that image was made. The Move-To shortcuts I mentioned earlier are at the bottom-right of that image, BTW.
- "Add a Counter..." (opens up the counter window) moved from CTRL+Z to CTRL+0
- "Activate Card Ability" was added, hotkey is now CTRL+Z
- "Move To Library" was a typo on that image, it should be CTRL+Y instead of CTRL+I
Not sure if this is the right forum for these but ive tried to join the octg.net forum and still waiting approval.
Ive noticed recently (since downloading and installing v1.0.2) that some cards are not "appearing" to opponents despite whether they have the set installed or not - all my oppoents have v1.0.2. Have even experienced situations where the same card will appear in one game and then be blank the next.
its not the game definition that determines how the cards show up. The most likely reason is that somebody either has an old SET definition or one from a torrent, or that somebody doesn't have a particular promo set installed which the card came from. Both players may have a particular set installed, but if they're not the EXACT same version then there's going to be compatibility issues.
There's also been a few reported cases where a card will randomly show up in one game then disappear for the next. I think the general consensus was that it was a lag issue, and from what I remember its being looked at.
There weren't any significant changes in the game definitions between 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 that would cause this sort of problem
When you drag the card to your library, if you hover it to the bottom half of the pile a white arrow shows up, indicating when you let go the card will go to the bottom.
Just started testing OCTGN, and think it's great so far. However, I did want to throw $0.02 in here and say I found this very slightly confusing. The arrow shows up no matter where on the card you position the pointer. Therefore, I thought I was doing it wrong.
I discovered that that the arrow shows up no matter where you position the mouse over the deck; if you let go while the mouse is above the arrow (but still on the deck), it'll drop the card on top, and if you release the mouse while on the actual arrow, it'll go to the bottom of the deck.
From a UI standpoint, I think that the arrow should only show up if the card is definitely headed to the bottom. So if you're towards the top of the deck, there's no arrow, and releasing the card will place it on top; and if you move the mouse down, the arrow appears, indicating this is definitely where the card will go.
Just a humble opinion, but did find that confusing initially.
dunno about the second point, but to morph a card you can hold shift as you drag the card to the table.
When I did this, the card appeared face-down; however, the card name was still displayed openly in the Chat Area (e.g. "Player moves 'Brine Elemental' to table".)
Additionally, if I morph a face-down card on the table (right-flick, Morph), the chat area says "player morphs 'Brine Elemental' face-up", but the card doesn't actually display; it's still face-down. Same with a face-up card already on the table: Morph doesn't seem to actually flip it face-down.
And finally: if a card is face-down, shouldn't there be a way for the controlling player to peek at the card? Maybe the zoom-in detail view when you mouse over should actually show it face-up no matter what for the controlling player, but perhaps with a "morphed" overlay on it or something.
The face-down card's name is only revealed to the player who normally could see the card. So to your opponent, it will say "Player moves "Card" to table". This works for any case: If the player can't normally see their card, then it will show up as "card" to them (such as moving a card from your deck to your hand, moving a card face-down to the table, or moving a face-down card ON the table to another pile).
I haven't heard of any issues with the morph action yet, that's very strange. It seems to work fine for me, and there's certainly nothing wrong with the morph script to cause it to not flip over. I'll check our chatroom to see if anyone else has this problem, maybe there's a lag issue that's messing up the script. Are you using version 1.0.2?
"Peek" is a highly-requested feature right now, currently there's no way to see a face-down card with the current scripting of OCTGN. I'm hoping that its included in the next couple of updates, as its one of only a few MWS features currently missing.
Alternatively, you could move the card to another pile (such as the Command Zone or Sideboard if you're not using it) and view it from there. As long as you change visibility of that pile so that only you can see it (you can do that with the right-click menu on the pile), it will show up as "card" for your opponent and it wont reveal the card to them.
UPDATE: OCTGN was updated a few hours ago to include card peeking, which can be accessed with CTRL+P. No update to the MTG game definition is necessary to use this feature.

Hey brine, is there any interest in a file downloader that we were talking about a while back. Because I've been tinkering with the html code and I think i can do it, if your interested. I don't want to start such a endeavor without support. PS with my current knowledge it would have to be a small exe they would have to dl.
we've been waiting for either dropbox or sugarsync to allow users to sync to the server files but NOT be able to edit/delete them, I have no idea when they plan on actually implementing it.
The thing I really like about the sync option is that once a player has downloaded all the sets, they won't have to ever worry about downloading set updates again. If we make a change -- even a small one such as fixing a typo, that change will automatically send out to every user that's connected and update it for them. To make things even better, the clients will ONLY send the data that was modified, so if for example I change a single card image, only that image will be downloaded by the users (they won't have to redownload the whole set). This means that the bandwidth usage is very low once you have all the sets.
Just curious, does this thing have the capability of being able to generate a draft based on a singleton cube format? Like a normal draft you can pull multiples becuase you are pulling from boosters, cube would be the same except you'd pull no more than 1 of each.
right now OCTGN only has built-in sealed pool generators, there isn't any drafting. However, tappedout.net's draft simulator (which I've previously promoted for OCTGN drafting) does support cube drafting exactly like you'd expect it to.
To reiterate, you can get all your draft buddies to connect to the website's simulator, fill in any remaining empty seats with bots, do the draft as usual, build your deck (all still on the website, don't forget to put the rest of the cards into your sideboard). Once your done you'll have to export as a MTGO deck, which can be converted to OCTGN format using Nigol's Deck Converter.
More detailed instructions, and a link to the deck converter, can be found here.
@brine i know seriously! thats why i have been trying to push for that in the forums at dropbox. until that time we could set up a program to do it atleast until dropbox does something. thoughts?
It's strange that so many people choose to be stupid...

I used to get the short cuts from;

However these seem out of date given the suggestions below and in reference to the above web page. Is there an updated list?
- "Add a Counter..." (opens up the counter window) moved from CTRL+Z to CTRL+0
- "Activate Card Ability" was added, hotkey is now CTRL+Z

this website may help, its currently got all the file names listed and will always be auto-updated when future sets get added.
