I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in making a custom set intended to be drafted with the intention of being used to bridge any two other sets used in the draft (used as a third pack in the draft) irreguardless of what the other sets are.
This would help when friends just want to draft 2 random sets or draft piles of random cards by giving support for particular keywords and abilities (such as arcane and allies) that just don't work very well, or work too well, without a decent number of other support cards.
In a way its a lot like time spiral/planar chaos, with multiple keywords from different sets/blocks interacting with one another. Rarities of cards are decided based on power and the feasibility of playing more than one or two of that card in a draft deck (i.e. normal rarities) as well as the secondary market price of the sets (so there's likely going to be less support for Horsemanship and Kobolds than Slivers and -1/-1 counters, as Legends and Three Kingdoms Packs are less likely to be used than any set with Slivers or Shadowmoor/Eventide).
I really don't want to do this product alone...any other suggestions?
Random thought: the name "Sigil" comes from the location in the planescape campaign setting; essentially its a city that has access through a number of doors to any plane in the multiverse. A reasonable setting idea if no one else has anything better. And an excuse to make a "Lady of Blades" planeswalker card
EDIT: Cards supported will never themselves only work with other mechanics. Since those would be "dead cards" without drafting other sets. So don't expect to see a card that's only worthwhile when Spliced.
So, for example:
Sliven Rallier 2WW
Creature - Sliver Rebel Ally
When Sliven Assassin comes into the battlefield, choose a creature type. Creatures of that type get +1/+1 for each other creature of that type in the battlefield until end of turn.
2/2 Although they have broken free of the hive mind's control, the sliven's affinity for cooperation remains unfettered.
((In an attempt to make a "half-sliver" sort of creature.))
Channel the New Guardian 3W/W/
Sorcery - Arcane
Splice onto Arcane - W/W/
Affinity for Spirits
Choose a creature type. Until the end of the turn, all you control creatures in all zones are considered that type in addition to their normal type.
((If someone can teach me hybrid symbols, I'll love you forever. The original purpose of this appears to be a way to help Spirit "when you play a spirit or arcane spell..." effects. The affinity is a testamant to that. But outside Kamigawa, there's a plethora of uses for this one-turn Conspiracy. From Rebels and Mercenaries to Slivers and Elves. The idea is your channeling the power of the new guardian of Kamigawa. ERr...minor spoilers there.))
Also this set seems like a pretty cool idea. I would suggest to either include changelings, or something like the Mistforms from Onslaught, but better. Also hybrid I think works pretty well with this idea, as versatility means more playability, right?

Custom Set: Pokemon: Generation 1
My mind numbing DC-10 stack!
