It's Tokens Month! For this top 8 round we'll take a look at a classic and versatile use of tokens...
Challenge
Design a card that creates one or more token copies.
Make sure to include a rarity.
PLEASE NOTE: This month will NO LONGER use the "mandatory top 3" rule. Critiques and top 3s will each be worth one bonus point per round but it will be possible to score points and advance even without submitting a top 3. This will also be done on a trial basis; future months may once again require top 3s from contestants.
This month's schedule has been slightly modified owing to its late start. Your submissions are due Wednesday, January 23rd, 23:59 EST.

Hemlock - This is a very fun card. I think it is balanced but strong, definitely makes players play around the chance that you have it, flavorful, the whole nine yards. My only objection is that is does not necessarily feel, flavorfully, like the angel itself IS an illusion. But it’s not immersion-breaking for me. Love it.
picnic_bomber - So, can simic get an oblivion ring on a stick for frilled mystic mana? I guess I don’t see why not, though it is a little weird. But with phyrexian ingester and other blue cards existing, I can see the blue half of it justifying it, while the green half justifies making the tokens. This is a pretty cool card overall. I have no sense of how strong it is, given that being a 2/2 that will be tapped a lot makes it fragile to almost any removal in the game. It’s a cool idea, though, no matter what, and a fun allusion to Progenitor Mimic.
TheDrB - Boy can this take over a game if it’s allowed to stick around, especially in limited. Being able to use the fight ability multiple times a turn is a lot, but there is such a mana investment here that it might not be as powerful as it first sounded. Overall, very fun combination of effects, but also easy to break in the right formats/matchups
RaikouRider - I know this card is very, very flexible, but it somehow still seems like it could cost 1 less. Still, a fun variety of effects including some very unique ones. I’m into it.
Gateways - This seems way too strong, at least in certain formats. Dump some stuff in the bin and then on turn four just unleash an army of amazing tokens. It also feels a little off-flavor that it can create tokens that are noncreature permanents, even lands!
Cardz5000 - Reproof is very expensive for what it does, but it’s on a split card, so that sort of comes with the territory. Replace is just sort of weird. Yes it plays with ETB and can be “wrath protection” but for five mana I feel like I want to increase my board state, not just swap one out for a token. Both halves of this are interesting, but feel overcosted even for a split card to me.
Willows - I feel this should say non-Aura enchantment so as to not create rules nightmares, but this is interesting that the token isn’t even an enchantment creature. Being able to copy enchantments is something I really wish Magic had more ways to do, and this feels like a super cool way to do it.
Lots of good entries, so this is tough, but:

The fact that the Angel token is a 3/3 instead of 4/4 bugs me beyond belief. Other than that, it's a nice, clean and interesting design, a bit too safe for my taste but that's ok. Just ok.

Create a token that’s a copy of target creature. Exile that creature until the token leaves the battlefield.
It's a well balanced card, with great versatility and would definitely see play if ever printed. Thing is, it's just two effects already existing stapled on a single card. Great, not exciting sadly.
Necrotic Deluge3UUBB
Sorcery (M)
Delve (Each card you exile from your graveyard while casting this spell pays for 1.)
Create a token that’s a copy of target creature.
For each permanent card exiled with Necrotic Deluge’s delve ability, create a token that’s a copy of that permanent. The poisons of the Marang have an interesting effect on the dead.
This is a very interesting card with a cool flavor and concept but it's just too powerful. Delve is a busted ability on its own and you're pushing it even further beyond that by getting insane value out of the exiled cards. I see how you tried to balance it with a harsh mana cost and a maximum of 3 discount, but it's not enough. I really like it overall, though.
Copy target instant or sorcery spell. You may choose new targets for the copy.
Copy target activated or triggered ability. You may choose new targets for the copy. (Mana abilities can't be targeted.)
Create a token that's a copy of the card target permanent spell would become as it resolves.
Nice concept with a lot of utilities, I love the idea of copying an activated or triggered ability a lot. I feel the third choice is overcomplicated though, I guess you were trying to play around hexproof/shroud but I don't see the need, honestly. I appreciate the effort of making something new nonetheless.

Enchantment - Aura (R)
Enchant player or permanent
At the beginning of your end step, for each other Aura attached to enchanted player or permanent, create a token that's a copy of that Aura attached to enchanted player or permanent.
Jeez, Bogles are annoying already! It's a fine design, but this shouldn't be able to copy token Auras.

I feel this card should have B somewhere, somehow. I also would have liked this at 5 cmc and just as a rare, doesn't really stands out as mythic to me. It's a good and clean design overall, just a bit too safe.

I like this a lot. Surprise flying blocker plus a second body the same turn it comes out. Really powerful but completely fair, with a cool flavor attached. It just has nothing wrong honestly, good job!
When I first looked at this card, my immediate first thought was "Welp, I can't do anything better than that." This is a really simple yet really interesting and flavorful way to make both make an enchantment's function more interesting, as it's much more interactive, and a creature card with a variable and interesting ability.
This is a simple and flexible design, my only gripe with it is that the last ability is a lot better than the first one.
This is another really flexible card, and an interesting combination of abilities that match it's three colors. I like this card a lot!
I like this card a lot, but I feel like it has the potential to be incredibly powerful when equipped to a hexproof threat, and I don't know much about Modern but I think it might be a little too good in Bogles.
This feels more like a black card than anything else, but I do really like the activated abilities interaction with the rest of the card.
This is an interesting card, but I feel like it might get too good too fast.
I like this, as it feels like a type of Ghostly-Prison effect, putting a limit on how much your opponents can attack, but also working in the reverse direction, making it a lot better to attack with a lot of creatures rather than a few. Nice card!

This has a cool application of delve in it. I like your thinking.

Copy target activated or triggered ability. You may choose new targets for the copy. (Mana abilities can't be targeted.)
Create a token that's a copy of the card target permanent spell would become as it resolves.
This is an ok idea but I think the execution is messy and the fact that it can only clone on the stack makes its wording more technical and annoying at a cost to functionality.

The fact that this doesn't do anything by itself, and goes crazy with 2 copies of itself, are both concerning minus points to me.

This is a J puzzle waiting to be solved! I like it/
Cardz5000 - This feels pretty solid, but the halves are so close in cost that it feels off somehow.
RaikouRider - The token ability should match the others better. Maybe just regular clone effect so that you could start that line with 'Copy' as well?
willows - Confused. So, you make a copy of an enchantment, and then make it not an enchantment?
JamBlock - This seems explosive in the right deck, but I would hate to have this go off in a real-world game. It would be crazy to keep track of everything. I am totally picturing it getting out of hand and then my creature getting Arrested. I'd end up with infinite auras on a creature that can't attack!
picnic_bomber - This seems really good. Does it seem like it should have white in it for the effect?
Gateways7 - Oof. This feels odd without some kind of 'X' in there to mitigate it. 4 mana for a copy of the best creature in play and 3 additional permanents seems way over the top.
Hemlock - Feels production ready. And like a card that I would flash in at end of turn because I wasn't paying attention.. lol
picnicbomber: Strange Ecile effect for the colors but Colossal Whale exists. The name is fun.
TheDrB: This is very powerful if set right. I don't quite feel it in colorz tho.
Jamblock: I really like this, tho it might need some.balancing. Being Legendary might help, and shouldn't copy the tokens it create.
Raikouraider: I don't know if copying a permanent from the stack would work. Morph sounds problematic in that regard. Other than that, this has a good dose of flexibility
Gateways7: Well, the chance of creating 4 tokens for 4 mama is annit too much.
willows: So putting the enchantment text on legs? Good idea, althought for this challenge I'm not thrilled at having the copy change so much that you can barely call it a copy.
Cardx5000: I tbink tjis id fine but Replace shoulg havr been the Adorius half given the history of Oring effect in that color combination
Willows: This is a very cool concept that could have an entire mechanic based around it. I came up with a very similar mechanic for a collaborative custom set years back (I think it's the reverse of what you made) but this seems like a casual player's dream. Trostani players would love you.
Cards5000: I think Reproof should probably cost 1WU even though it's a split card (would not feel good playing this for four), but other than that it seems balanced enough. I wonder if you went back and forth on your cost like I did for my entry. Replace being able to be used both offensively and defensively is cool, to reuse an etb (twice!) or just kind of steal a guy.
Gateways7: I appreciate the creativity in rewarding delve use, but this seems like it could do a crazy amount of work for four mana. The only shred of balance I'm seeing is from the color-intensive mana cost, plus the card being the two colors that care least about creatures. Ironically, I think decreasing the CMC of this card to six would actually make it more balanced.
JamBlock: Enchantress players love you! This looks pretty obviously designed with singleton formats in mind, as it would get extremely messy if you copy this, since the two copies would produce more copies of each other. I do like exploring the design space of noncreature tokens, which is something that needs to be done more officially.
TheDrB: This is out of color pie. I think this kind of effect needs to be Simic or maybe even Temur. The concept is good, but I can't give you a top 3 spot because this is a pie break. Sorry.
picnic_bomber: Your flavor text made me laugh pretty hard. This design looks like a Duplicant that can copy the thing it clones. I think this is correctly costed, but it could use one or two extra points of toughness because it costs four colored mana.
Hemlock: Man this is quite the attack deterrent. Seems overly strong until you realize the creature actually has to hit you first in order to copy it. I especially like the 4 toughness.
1) JamBlock
2) Willows
3) picnic_bomber

Hemlock - Feels production ready. And like a card that I would flash in at end of turn because I wasn't paying attention.. lol
