Congratulations to Jack Power (aka SALAd) for his first FCC win after playing for a long, long time. His winning card, when challenged to create a common, is:
Skyscout Angel (Common) 1WW
Creature - Angel Scout
2/2
Flying
When Skyscout Angel deals combat damage to an opponent, mindshift 1 (To mindshift 1, put a card from your hand on the bottom of your library, then draw that many cards). Many a battle has been changed by the skyscout’s unique view of the world.
Congratulations, Jack Power! Very nice card. Definitely something I'd pick in a draft, and as a casual player, something I'd throw into a number of my decks.
Congrats! This is a really nice design and a solid card. Mindshift is a very creative mechanic. The "bottom of library" part fits nicely with white, but because of the card draw, I could see this card as UW as well. Still a really cool card that I would love to put into a WB or WR beatdown deck. nice work.

Personally, I would've preferred a 'comes-into-play' effect for a common creature as opposed to a repeatable one, though...
As for creature type, I think all creature types have the potential to be made for all rarities. There are good ways to do it, and there are not-so-good ways... I think this one is acceptable...
Still, do not let this take away from your limelight. I hope this changes your mind of having this FCC be your last one...
Wow. I actually didnt look through all the contestants (shame on me), but I stumbled upon this one and quickly moved on...there is so much that looks wrong with this card. Card Filter in white? Check. Angels as commons? Check. Created a keyword to dodge out-of-color or complexity questions? Check.
Seriously, has nobody entered a better entry than this? (And I'm not saying I did...my card just became too complex the moment I needed to remove regeneration and replace it with replacement effects...)
Aww, whatever, congratulations on winning this. While I do not agree that your card was good work, you still...uh...won?

Sometimes those with the most sin cast the first stones.
But I agree with Silver Seraph.... blue much?? Plus, the common angel thingy...
EDIT: Huge kudos for the Scout creature type - it's not used enough.
Anyways, what a way to end. Must be a sign that you should stick around.
As a catch-all for all complaints about mindshift: it isn't a card drawing mechanic; it's a card filtering mechanic. (If you have no cards in hand, you get no cards from mindshifting) My original idea was something along the lines of Credit Voucher. Discard had been done to death, and creating another mechanic that causes a shuffle was kinda boring, so I went with the bottom of the library. It fits with all colors, although the higher 'shift values would be in blue (forgetting the past to learn the future) and black (self-brainwashing), and I couldn't see white having any more than mindshift 1, possibly 2 (changing battle tactics); but I can certainly see mindshift having a place in all colors.
It's obvious that the idea of a common Angel is divisive, to say the least, so I won't add any more to it.
Aww man, I think it was a hard fought final round, and a challenging one. Congratulations! My only problem was the whole Vorthos "She's small for an Angel", but she is more of a messenger (Angelic Page-ish). Either way, I agree with the judges that this would be a great common, and a limited staple.
Sorry to hear it's your last FCC! You were very stiff competition. =)
Nice work. While I think overall this is a decent card (from a mechanical point of view)...the flavor irks me, somewhat. For one thing, I think Angels should really be at least 3/3 preferably higher (they are celestial beings made of pure mana, afterall. Give'em some credit here).
Perhaps if it were an Aven, a Faerie, or something, I'd like it alot more.
While I would personally enjoy it more as an uncommon or have mindshift changed to CIP, I'm in no position to object the voice of the people. Congratulations for the win!
I'd like to give some more supportive reasons why I think that way. The biggest reason is that this babe wrecks limited. A 2/2 flyer for 3 in limited is valuable already. Add in a card filter ability that goes along with damage and this is just about too much. The other reason is that she's an Angel.
Anyway, it hardly matters now that you win. Again, congratulations.
I really must point out that this challenge was extraordinarily hard. Everyone's cards were highly flawed in comparisson with the average final round because of the tension between making a card that feels right a common but also feels fresh/creative/potent/playable/exciting/etc. So please keep a little perspective when forming your opinion.
It's fine to discuss the flaws of the card, but don't anyone dare say it is undeserving of the win because of them. Any other card posted this round could and would easily be picked apart just as easily, if not moreso.
Sorry for the tone, but some of the comments have me cranky.

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
Congrats, J(Salad)P. I agree that this feels odd as a common Angel...an Aven would have hit this on the head, flavorfully. As for the ability, I would think a one-time CIP (as mentioned above) would be more fitting for common/white, while repeated useability would be uncommon/multi-color, perhaps?
That seems way too powerful for a common, but I enjoy the overall feel of this card. Its just the idea of a draft format with X-X-X or even X-X-Y makes me wary of this.
Also the ability would be pretty cool as a CIP or even if it was an option, since you don't always want to mindshift, and being forced to not attack with a flying 2/2 three drop in White Weenie seems really pointless.
It seems the creator was inspired by Hypnotic Specter. If a black card creates card advantage by harming your opponent, I think the idea is that a white card would create card advantage by benefiting you (since white is the opposite of black) Thats the only reason I can think of explaining the color, because white doesn't make sense at all (Mindshift sounds pure blue anyway) If it was common I would make it this in order to keep the mechanic:
1UU
Creature - Faerie
Flying
When CARD deals combat damage to an opponent, Mindshift 1
1/2
i like the common angel, i really like the mechanic here, in a block when all colors have it, it would be ok to be white. Also, a 2/2 flying for 1ww is not bad as a common (Diving Griffin, Cloudchaser Kestrel) but still i think because the mechanic power play testing would make it a 2/1 (moonwing moth)or 1/2 (kabuto moth)
As a catch-all for all complaints about mindshift: it isn't a card drawing mechanic; it's a card filtering mechanic. (If you have no cards in hand, you get no cards from mindshifting)
Actually, no. The way the ability is worded, you would draw the card whether you put a card from your hand on the bottom of your library or not. To work the way you want, it should be "Put a card from your hand on the bottom of your library. If you do, draw a card." But, solid card all around.
This is a very cool card, i would love to see it in a draft. but, it does seem a little overpowered at 3 mana. being a common, i would expect a 2/2 flyer with that mindshift 1 ability to be priced at 4 mana. a 1/2-flyer-mindshift at 3 mana seems more fair. besides, im really comparing it to theiving magpie (of wich I am a big fan). he has always been a 1/3 flyer for 4 mana. your angel would kick its ass in a damage race, for less mana?

"Wizards could put $100 bills in packs and people would complain about how they were folded."
Angel: Most likely NOT a common
2/2 FLIER ... AND a decent ability for 3 mana: DEFINATELY not a common
If this was JUST a scout, a ground critter, and keeping that ability ... then common works. Even if it had a lesser evasion like a -walk ability, I could see it as common. As is, DEFINATELY an uncommon!

i think JP's wording covers this: "... then draw that many cards... " so if you can't put a card on the bottom, you'll draw zero cards. you're wording seems better at first glance but what if Mindshift 2?
i think the final wording would be closer to "... then draw as many cards as you placed on the bottom of your library in this way."
and, i agree with the general sentiment that the type+filtering ability makes this an uncommon. which shows how difficult it is to both create and judge a good common.
