Obsianus Golem, taken from EchoMTG, by Jesper Myrfors and Wizards of the Coast
Welcome to the Card Creation League! Everyone is free to participate in either or both of the first two rounds. Come join us!
Theme
As is CCL tradition, December is winter celebrations month. Since Hanukkah just started, let's use the first round to design something that fantasy
borrowed from Jewish legends.
Challenge
Design a Golem creature card.
The card doesn't have to be colorless or an artifact but must be a creature.
Make sure to include a rarity.
Stay tuned for November's CCL Final Poll. Anyone who votes will receive 2 bonus points for December's CCL!
PLEASE NOTE: This month will NO LONGER use the "mandatory top 3" rule. Critiques and top 3s will each be worth one bonus point per round but it will be possible to score points and advance even without submitting a top 3. This will also be done on a trial basis; future months may once again require top 3s from contestants.
This month's schedule has been slightly modified owing to its late start. Your submissions are due Saturday, December 8th, 23:59 EST.
Schedule
Round 1 — Open to Everyone (December 3rd-8th)
Round 2 — Open to Everyone (December 9th–14th)
Rounds 1 and 2 Critiques (Due December 17th)
Top 8 — Open to top 8 finishers (December 18th–21st)
Top 8 Critiques (Due December 23rd)
Top 4 — Open to top 4 finishers from last round (December 24th–28th)
Top 4 Critiques (Due December 30th)
Final (End of month, winner determined by public poll)

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
Antediluvian Witness5
Artifact Creature - Golem (u)

Ok, quick nitpick : *...put a completion counter on Singletask Golem. It gains defender as long as it has a completion counter on it*
Other than that, I like the fact that it has that *goal in mind* feel to it.
Chrome Sentinel2

So... colorless mana YAY
I mean sucks lots in color oriented sets, but I like it for the memes.
I love it even more with effects like *pay any color of mana to cast*
Ok that wasn't the best way to put it.
Antediluvian Witness5

I think it's fair enough. I *might* make it 7 for having flash.
Vessel of Will4
Artifact creature - Golem (Rare) 1W: If Vessel of Will becomes a 4/4 Golem Artificer. 2GB: If Vessel of Will is an artificer, put two +1/+1 counters on it and it becomes a Human Golem Artificer. 3RU: If Vessel of Will is a Human Golem, create two tokens that are a copy of it and it becomes a Human Artificer creature with lifelink and "This creature gets +1/+0 for each artifact you control." (It's no longer an artifact)
3/3
Wait, wait. lets break this down:
1W: If Vessel of Will becomes a 4/4 Golem Artificer.
How do you keep track of this?
2GB: If Vessel of Will is an artificer, put two +1/+1 counters on it and it becomes a Human Golem Artificer.
Ok... more power...
3RU: If Vessel of Will is a Human Golem, create two tokens that are a copy of it and it becomes a Human Artificer creature with lifelink and "This creature gets +1/+0 for each artifact you control." (It's no longer an artifact)
Ok, so they get bigger for each artifact, including vessel of will.
So I mean, overall, 11 mana for the first set of tokens, then 9 for the rest. It's a confusing process too, It took me a few readthroughs to try to understand.
Golem Sentry(2/W)
Artifact Creature - Golem (U)
Multikicker (2/W)

Dust, Ash's Creation x
Legendary Artifact Creature - Golem (M)
Dust enters the battlefield with X +1/+1 counters on it
If W was paid to cast ~, ~ has vigilance. The same is true for U and flying, B and wither, R and haste, and G and trample.
0/0Nitpick time: Bold you names, and don't use "~" for final entries.
Actual notes: wither stands out here as the only non-evergreen keyword, I would have opted for lifelink or menace (haste also stands out as it basically does nothing after the first turn, so it might be better to go with menace in lue of haste.) Balance wise, I think this is viable at almost every casting cost, which means it's probably too efficient for the flexibility it provides.
Singletask Golem4
Artifact Creature - Golem (R)
Trample
As Singletask Golem enters the battlefield, choose a creature an opponent controls. If you can't, sacrifice Singletask Golem.
When the chosen creature leaves the battlefield, put a completion counter on Singletask Golem. It gains defender.
6/5Name feels like a playtest placeholder. This has some obvious synergies with arrest/pacify effects, but the reliance on them in order to mostly negate its drawback is fine. Overall this is a really unique card that I feel really needs a better name.
Chrome Sentinel2
Artifact Creature - Golem {R}
Defender
All lands have "T: Add C."
Whenever a permament is tapped for mana other than C, that permanent doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step.
0/4*permanent
This reads like it would slow the game down much more than it actually would as most cards only require one or two colored mana regardless of CMC. It mostly shuts down heavily multicolored decks, and decks that use repeatable activated abilities like fire breathing. I could see this finding a home is colorless or mono-colored EDH decks.
Antediluvian Witness5
Artifact Creature - Golem (u)
Anteeiluvian Witness costs 2 less to cast and has flash as long as there are no creatures on the battlefield.
If a spell or ability would cause Antediluvian Witness to be returned to its owner's hand, it remains on the battlefield instead.
4/4Name misspelled in card texts
Antediluvian is not text I ever expect to see on a magic card, but is does make some fun flavor when played after wrath of god. I don't think the second ability should be templated as a replacement effect. Maybe "Antediluvian Witness cannot be returned to its owner's hand from the battlefield."?
Viskopa Guardian6
Creature - Golem (Rare)
Flash
Defender
If an opponent would gain life, instead you gain that much life. Simply reading the fine print of an Orzhov contract isn't enough; you must also watch your back while you leave Viskopa.
4/10This body probably has a bit too much staying power for the cost and abilities.
3/3 I really like the Figure of Destiny vibe here and it tells a cool story, I just wish the colors used were more integrated into that story.
rkhon: Pretty cool cvborgy seek-and-destroy vibe to it, the name could have reflected that a bit better.
InfinityDie: I think you nailed it in Golem-creation flavor. The choices for Bilities might not be optimal, but the concept of each color contributing to the creation of a more perfect Golem is very solid.
Subject16: I feel rhis is a bit messy. The fact that the second ability can be used one and again might have been overlooked, but everything seems harder to remember than a Figure-of-destiny-like organization. It's also confusing: You have put two effects with such a complex interaction (changing and copying) in one card. This is an interaction that appears in jugding exercises.
netn10- Interesting life-straling powers coupled with a huge toughnesd to keep protecting your life. Might look too big but if your opponent is not gainibg life this is just a very good blocker. Of course, you may make your opponent gain life and reap some reward but I don't tjink this comes fawt enought or impacts enough to be an irreplaceable cog in such a strategy.
Cardz5000- Reminiscent of scroll rack, but I figure manipulation of the bottom of the library is more limited (Most effects ask for a random order) and less exploitable. Grenzo can have fun with this.
mirrodin71: This Hydra-like effwct feels a bit out of color for white, and if you pair it with first strike, it can get annoying. No p/t.
Hemlock - I don't think we've seen anti-bounce effects before. Surprised something like this doesn't exist.
netn10 - Dunno if this effect can be colorless. This feels like it at least has to be white.
Subject16 - Extra "if" in the first ability. Rainbow Figure of Destiny? Haven't seen anything like this in a long time.
mirrodin71 - No P/T? I'm guessing this is 1/1. Uncommon is right for this kind of thing. Seems strong in a monocolor-focused draft environment.
Cardz5000 - T symbol comes after other mana symbols in costs. Other than that I like it a lot. Reminds me of Scroll Rack.
InfinityDie - Tribal Golem but for colors instead of creature types. Not necessarily sure this needs to be mythic?

2) Hemlock

Of course, you may make your opponent gain life and reap some reward but I don't tjink this comes fawt enought or impacts enough to be an irreplaceable cog in such a strategy.
Cardz5000- Reminiscent of scroll rack, but I figure manipulation of the bottom of the library is more limited (Most effects ask for a random order) and less exploitable. Grenzo can have fun with this.
mirrodin71: This Hydra-like effwct feels a bit out of color for white, and if you pair it with first strike, it can get annoying. No p/t.
1. Infinitydie
2. cardz5000
3. rkhon
netn10 - Dunno if this effect can be colorless.
1) cardz5000
2) Hemlock
3) InfinityDie
