TheDrB- Blurry seeks to take care of not getting two-for-oned, as many aura-detractors love to point. The way this is worded makes it useful for instants and sorceries, too. It's a bit too similar to split second to be exciting, but this could counter spells and abilities when at instant speed.
Jimmy Groove: My main issue with the hock mechanic is that it can appear in any type of permanent, and that kin of goeas against the spirit of the challenge. The mechanic itself is interesting and it can be very valuable in things that get outclassed as the game goes. Still, it needs some balancing.
Netn10;/Neat idea. I don't know if theway it's worded makes it stop having an equip ability, as nothing seems to.prevent the equip ability from being used on an Aura.
Sheoldred- While this mechanic on auras is fairly undramatic, I think it works wonders with equipments. Reducing equip costs is a very good ability and and the design for this mechanic should be more blatantly equipment-oriented as to make it a bit more exciting.
Willows: Panoply is kind of interesting, but I don't see this as a keyworded mechanic at all, but rather a cool effect to appear in one or two creatures.
Kjsharp: After Clues and tresures, swords looks like something very likely to happen. Of course this is intresting if it geta enough support and submitting such a Legend goes in that direction
Jimmy Groove - Hock is very flavorful, but I seen no reason it couldn't be found on any artifact, which kinda goes against the spirit of the challenge a bit. The ability itself seems like a mish-mash of other abilities, which isn't my favorite thing. There is an awful lot going on in just one ability. I just don't really see any scenario in which Heirloom Plate isn't immediately hocked. It's basically a free cantrip. At the end of the day, I think this card generally just turns into a Howling Mine, with players passing it back and forth just to draw a card.
Sheoldred - This card has many templating mistakes. It lacks spaces, punctuation, and italics. I generally overlook a typo or two in the CCL, but your card has many such issues. With that aside, the first ever custom set I tried to make was a Return to Innistrad set (before that actually happened), and in that set, creatures had an ability called faith, which was just like beacon, but was on the creature itself. I think the ability plays a lot better on a creature. I could see an aura or two that granted beacon (or faith), but I just don't think it would be very good if it was on auras exclusively.
Hemlock - I rather like the afterlife ability. It reminds me of Elephant Guide and the like. Like totem armor, it really helps make auras more playable by eliminating the unfavorable two for ones that come with playing them. I feel like the ability would need to mention something about returning the aura from the graveyard, but I could be mistaken. Although Inner Valor seems a bit weak at first glance, it is deceptively powerful. A 2/1 vigilant flyer for 1 is no joke, especially when it essentially comes for free.
netn10 - Hmmm, an equipment that can be an aura, interesting, but I'm not sure that's actually necessary. I'm confused as to whether or not the equip ability still works when it's an aura. I think it would be better to word bind like this (If you cast this card for its bind cost, it loses equip and is an Aura with enchant creature.) I'm not even sure that's correct. Also, bind has memory issues. Maybe it would've seemed more worthwhile if it was represented on a more interesting card. This card is about as vanilla as it gets beyond the bind ability. It seems like it would be much more powerful as an early enchantment than an equipment with an over-costed equip.
TheDrB - Blurry could just as easily be found on an instant or sorcery spell as it could an aura. I feel like this goes against the spirit of the challenge a bit. It seems a bit boring if you are intending to print it only on auras. Although it ensures your aura finds its mark, it doesn't really do anything beyond that. Once the aura finds its mark, it can still end up getting you 2-for-1'ed. Your particular card most likely prevents this by giving your creature protection, but most auras don't grant such an ability. Blurry is a bit more interesting when printed on something with instant speed. It acts as a kind of counter spell against spells and abilities that target. If someone tries to Terminate your guy, you just cast an instant with blurry that targets your creature and Terminate is basically countered. I think you could only get away with printing instant speed spells with blurry in gwu. It even seems weird in green and white since you could potentially cast a spell targeting an opponent's creature to counter something powerful that might be targeting that creature. Last but not least, I'm not really a fan of the name "blurry".
kjsharp - Arm seems like a natural progression for investigate/treasure-type abilities, and Rothchesa seems like a nice, balanced lord for the ability. Good stuff.
I had a very difficult time picking third place here....

Sorry folks, I'm struggling on mobile here so my feedback is going to be abbreviated.

Feedback:
Ruggley: I'm not sold on the high degree of complexity that imbue has nor on the way that it weirds Equipment functionality.
mirrodin71: I'm not sure whether this actually meets the challenge.
void_nothing: I'm not sure that this card is a good candidate for graduate but I actually like the mechanic.
Subject16: I just kinda don't know why this is not living weapon? It's fine but not new.
Flatline: I stand by my judgement that implant needs to be an ability. Nonbasic subtypes do not have implicit rules attached.
Anti: no-show
Raikou: no-show
Hemlock: "With flying" is a weird component of this ability, I'd rather that were broken out.
re:other feedback:
- It's reminder text, it doesn't have to be phrased like rules text. That's like 30% of the benefit of reminder text (the other 70 being, actually reminding us about things)
- I am not sure what would make this part of a miserable limited, but tbh I hate limited because you can't build constructed-quality decks in it and I always feel like I'm playing babby magic so I don't especially design for it. Panoply is designed to make Auras and Equipment more valuable by making them hit much harder, and to create that dream of building your own Emrakul.
also re:setting, I just found an image I liked and the dudes were riding these wolf lookin creatures so I went to old Norse so as to avoid just calling them wolf-riders which is hopelessly prosaic
Quite a few people where kicked out/lost points for lack of top three and/or critiques.
Each round was scored independently, then averaged together.
There was one round of critiques where one critiqued the wrong individuals. While I gave them credit for doing crits/top 3 to avoid disqualification, I did not count whom they would of awarded points to.
Next round will be up shortly!
