Let's return to a classic theme this month - watching a legend progress.
Whether it's Shambhala, Avalon, or Tir na nOg, heroes of fantasy have some kind of iconic location that they either come from or that is their destination.
Main Challenge: Design a legendary land card that can produce mana of one or more of your round 2 legendary creature's colors.
Subchallenge 1: Your card does not have "enters the battlefield tapped" in its text. Subchallenge 2: Your card has a subtype.
Please message me about any questions you might have about the challenges. Other than that, have fun, and good luck!
Adding mana of any color will always pass the main challenge.
Design Deadline: All submissions are to be final and submitted by November 25th 11:59 PM EST
Judging Deadline: All Judgements are to be final and completed by November 28th 11:59 PM EST
Design - (X/3) Appeal: Do the different player psychographics (Timmy/Johhny/Spike) have a use for the card? (X/3) Elegance: Is the card easily understandable at a glance? Do all the flavor and mechanics combined as a whole make sense?
Development - (X/3) Viability: How well does the card fit into the color wheel? Does it break or bend the rules of the game? Is it the appropriate rarity? (X/3) Balance: Does the card have a power level appropriate for contemporary constructed/limited environments without breaking them? Does it play well in casual and multiplayer formats? Does it create or fit into a deck/archetype? Does it create an oppressive environment?
Creativity - (X/3) Uniqueness: Has a card like this ever been printed before? Does it use new mechanics, ideas, or design space? Does it combine old ideas in a new way? Overall, does it feel “fresh”? (X/3) Flavor: Does the name seem realistic for a card? Does the flavor text sound professional? Do all the flavor elements synch together to please Vorthos players?
Polish - (X/3) Quality: Points deducted for incorrect spelling, grammar, and templating. (X/2) *Main Challenge: Was the main challenge satisfied? Was it approached in a unique or interesting way? Does the card fit the intent of the challenge? (X/2) Subchallenges: One point awarded per satisfied subchallenge condition.
Total: X/25
*An entry with 0 points here is subject to disqualification.
A reminder to everyone: In the MCC, putting rarity on cards is mandatory! If you don't put a rarity on your card, expect huge deductions in both Viability AND Quality.
Also, you should format your text cards accordingly to the forum rules (see the "this formatting looks best" spoiler in the linked OP). Again, expect deductions in Quality otherwise.

Legendary Creature — Human Soldier (R)
First strike
Whenever a Human you control attacks, create a 1/1 white Spirit creature token with flying that is tapped and attacking. Exile that token at end of combat. "Fear not my brothers, for we do not fight alone, but with generations of our forefathers by our sides."
3/2
Linzah's Museum
Legendary Land — Structure (R) t: Add C to your mana pool.
As long as Linzah's Museum is on the battlefield, it has all activated abilities of all land cards in all graveyards. (This includes mana abilities.) "Linzah's historical displays are so detailed and lifelike. It's almost as if you were there!"

The Gods' Wine
Legendary Land - Inn T: Add C to your mana pool. T, Tap another Inn: Add R or G to your mana pool. If this mana is spent on a creature spell, it can't be countered by spells or abilities. All of the fables and legends you hear being sung are born here.
Design - (1.5/3) Appeal: Timmy and Spike like both like uncounterable spells, but Spike doesn't like having to tap 2 lands for only 1 mana. (3/3) Elegance: Clean and simple.
Development - (1.5/3) Viability: No rarity. This is a big one and it's gonna take a chunk out of Quality too. Red cares more about making spells uncounterable than creatures, but it's a bend that has precedence. (2/3) Balance: Parasitic. That's not always a bad thing, but in this case your card is a worse Wastes without another Inn and even then you need to tap both of them to make one mana with a situational upside.
Creativity - (2/3) Uniqueness:Cavern of Souls and Boseiju, Who Shelters All come to mind, but this has its own identity and mechanics. (3/3) Flavor: Gotta admit I love the flavor here. An Inn where legendary heroes begin their adventures.
Polish - (1.5/3) Quality: Rarity is mandatory for MCC(-1). Should be "that spell" instead of "it" (-0.5). (2/2) *Main Challenge: (2/2) Subchallenges:

Cathedral of Bliss
Legendary Land - Plains {M}
(T: Add W to your mana pool.) T: Add G or U to your mana pool. If you don't control an Angel, Cathedral of Bliss doesn't untap during your next untap step. 3GWU: Until end of turn, Cathedral of Bliss becomes a 6/6 legendary green, white, and blue Angel creature with flying and lifelink named Asha the Blissful. It's still a land.
Design - (3/3) Appeal: Timmy is 100% onboard with a 6/6 Angel with lifelink. Spike and Johnny are always interested in a multi-land with basic land types. The fact that it's a manland is just icing on the cake. (2.5/3) Elegance: 8 lines of text is acceptable for a mythic, but there's a lot going on here.
Development - (2.5/3) Viability: This feels more like a mono-white card with blue and green tacked on for flavor. (Yes, I know Wizards does that all the time.) Definitely mythic. (2.5/3) Balance: This seems fine, if pushed, on its own, but the fact that it's a tri-land that's fetchable might just push this into the danger zone. This card (or the cycle if there is one) could easily be the chase rare of a set.
Creativity - (2/3) Uniqueness: Manlands are nothing new, but Alaran shard manlands with basic land types are something else. (3/3) Flavor: Flavor seems great, even if I am picturing a cathedral transforming into a giant angel.
Polish - (3/3) Quality: I don't see any problems (2/2) *Main Challenge: (2/2) Subchallenges:

Linzah's Museum

As long as Linzah's Museum is on the battlefield, it has all activated abilities of all land cards in all graveyards. (This includes mana abilities.) "Linzah's historical displays are so detailed and lifelike. It's almost as if you were there!"
—Museum visitor
Design - (2/3) Appeal: Timmy doesn't care. Spike is intrigued. Johnny is drooling. (3/3) Elegance: Clear as crystal.
Development - (2.5/3) Viability: What's a structure and why should I care? (2/3) Balance: There's probably some combo that busts this wide open, but without a way to consistently put lands in the 'yard it's kinda underwhelming.
Creativity - (3/3) Uniqueness: There's been cards like this with creatures, but never with lands. (3/3) Flavor: I really like this one.
Polish - (3/3) Quality:Unless stated otherwise a card only has abilities while on the battlefield so you don't really have to specify that. (-0.5) I stand corrected by Necrotic Ooze. (1/2) *Main Challenge: Subtracting a point here because while it can potentially add colored mana, it won't without help. (2/2) Subchallenges:

The Ethernal Palace
Legendery Land - Relic (Mythic)
(Whenever a creature deals combat damage to you, its controller gains control of all your Relics and untaps them.)
When The Ethernal Palace enters the battlefield, you become the monarch. T: Add W or B to your mana pool.
Design - (2/3) Appeal: Timmy likes the potential politics. Johnny is intrigued. Spike doesn't like sharing his things. (3/3) Elegance: Looks good to me.
Development - (2.5/3) Viability: Power level says Mythic but it "feels" Rare. (1/3) Balance: Legendary and the possibility of your opponent stealing it isn't enough of a drawback for a dual land that enters untapped and has an upside. I'll admit it's a thin line to walk. Relic looks like it'll either be a blast to play with or a nightmare.
Creativity - (3/3) Uniqueness: Only other land that deals with the monarchy is Throne of the High City and that Relic mechanic looks interesting. (3/3) Flavor: I like how you tied the Relic ability to the Monarch ability, it captures the feel of getting run out of your own palace by the latest coup.
Polish - (1.5/3) Quality: I don't think ethernal is a word, at least in English (-0.5). Legendary is misspelled (0.5). Should be "gains control of each Relic you control." (-0.5) (2/2) *Main Challenge: (2/2) Subchallenges:
Total: 20/25
*An entry with 0 points here is subject to disqualification.
Design - (2.5/3) Appeal: Timmy likes the huge amounts of damage this will throw around. Johnny has plenty of ways to abuse this - Mirror Gallery, Vesuva, and Rune of Protection: Lands? Spike also likes the quantity of free damage, but dislikes how hard it is to rein in. (3/3) Elegance: Solidly elegant indeed.
Development - (3/3) Viability: Rare seems correct, and being associated with red/producing red mana is a no-brainer. (1.5/3) Balance: I'm glad you thought twice about making this a Mountain and thus fetchable. Even in this state this is an extremely strong aggro card. Might earn itself a Commander ban if people abused it very badly, but then again in 40-life Magic it's less dangerous.
Creativity - (3/3) Uniqueness: Really unique for a land, especially with the use of a unique subtype. The closest comparison is Shivan Gorge, which itself is very different. (3/3) Flavor: Great name that rolls off the tongue, sick flavor text. Altogether sweet.
Design - (1.5/3) Appeal: Timmy wants a Zombie army but doesn't want to have to deal with card disadvantage and a long wait on the way there. Johnny has quite a few ways to abuse this, death triggers being only the most obvious. Spike most likely sees how it's a Swamp with a significant drawback until you transform it and never looks back. (1.5/3) Elegance: Blah, there's quite a lot going on here, isn't there? Paying either life or sacrificing, getting counters if you sacrifice, having to track the counters to transform, keeping the counters on when you do transform, and then potentially transforming back if you should run out? This is a busywork-y card.
Development - (3/3) Viability: Black-related/Swamp is right, and yeah, mythic is where a card of this sheer complexity should go. (3/3) Balance: That is a pretty damn good transformed half, but is it too little too late for what you pay to get to that point? This is certainly not a strong card. Niche Commander use is where you'd find it.
Creativity - (3/3) Uniqueness: Definitely strongly unique. (2/3) Flavor: The names and effect have a great "bog bodies/ancient blasphemous ritual" flavor. No flavor text, and I question why the transformed half has no proper name, although on the flipside I kind of dig it - having a nameless "Disgorging Murk" be legendary feels old-school and sort of terrifying.
Polish - (2/3) Quality: Counter names aren't capitalized. You did this four times, but at least you were consistent, so only one point off. (2/2) *Main Challenge: Good. (2/2) Subchallenges: Done.
Total: 20/25
Design - (2/3) Appeal: Timmy likes his spells not to be countered. Johnny is the type of player who would build a deck with all the Inns. Spike doesn't ever want to pay mana to make mana, even if it's filtering, especially not mana he can only get from a specific nonbasic land type. (3/3) Elegance: Nothing wrong here.
Development - (2/3) Viability: No rarity. This could and should be uncommon. The red-green association is at least right. (2.5/3) Balance: Not knowing a single thing about the other Inns makes this way hard to evaluate. However, the sheer parasitism of the mechanic makes this seem very underpowered, enough to dock half a point for it.
Creativity - (1.5/3) Uniqueness:Boseiju, Who Shelters All is an obvious comparison. So is Cavern of Souls. (2.5/3) Flavor: Is there something I'm missing? There's a bit of a disconnect between the "Inn-of-Ancient-Minstrels-Singing-Ballads" thing and the uncounterability. Still, the name and flavor text are good.
Polish - (0.5/3) Quality: "Tap another untapped Inn you control:" Uncounterability clause is wrong - creature spells can't be countered by fizzling, so the "by spells or abilities" part is plain unnecessary. Also, no rarity. (2/2) *Main Challenge: Good. (2/2) Subchallenges: Done.
Total: 18/25
Design - (2.5/3) Appeal: Timmy loves legendary lands that can become legendary beaters. Johnny is slightly less interested but is intrigued by the flexibility. Spike loves it because it's a land that produces three different colors of mana, ETBuntapped, and can become a finisher creature. (2/3) Elegance: Three abilities - two different mana abilities, one of which is somewhat wordy, and a somewhat wordy become-creature ability.
Development - (3/3) Viability: Mythic is obvious, the color associations are also obvious because Bant. (2/3) Balance: This is probably quite a bit too good to be a Plains and therefore fetchable, if only for the flexibility of the mana it can produce, painlessly, right out of the gate. The manland ability is just gravy in that situation.
Creativity - (2.5/3) Uniqueness: Half a Murmuring Bosk, half a ZEN/BFZ block manland... unique in terms of being a package deal. The change of name when turning into the creature is also something of a unique touch. (2/3) Flavor: I sort of really wish the legend this became weren't actually named Asha. I think the supreme Angel of Bant deserves more than to "just" be a 6/6 French vanilla. No flavor text (but little room, but that doesn't count against you too badly.)
—Museum visitor
Design - (1,5/3) Appeal: Not 100% playable for Spike, not interesting for Timmy. Johnny is happy as usual. (2,5/3) Elegance: Structure is definetely a subtype, but what structure stands for?
Development - (3/3) Viability: A colorless rare land, what more can I say. (2,5/3) Balance: I don't know how to make underwhelming land (basic lands are 3/3 in balance section for me) but of cousre, it need to meet special condition which makes it a bit less desirable. Good thing - it doesn't enter the battlefield tapped.
Creativity - (2,5/3) Uniqueness: Don't remember lands copying abilities in graveyards, only clone lands but they were different enough. (3/3) Flavor: Museum portraying abilities of dead lands is an idea as good as Thespian's Stage, no less.
Polish - (3/3) Quality: No problems, then (2/2) *Main Challenge: As head judge said before, you card could pass it. (2/2) Subchallenges: Yes.
Total: 22/25
*An entry with 0 points here is subject to disqualification.
Design - (1,5/3) Appeal: All players like to draw additional cards, Timmy is not so happy about "gain control" part, so does Spike. (3/3) Elegance: Clear but see the Quality section.
Development - (3/3) Viability: Yep, this is Mythic. (2,5/3) Balance: Upside is strong but the downside is a disaster. Unlike Locus, each other Relic makes it only worse. Sure, you can take all you relics back later...
Creativity - (2,5/3) Uniqueness: Lots of cards featuring monarchy but this is a Throne of the High City done almost right. (3/3) Flavor: I don't really like it mechanically, but the flavor is flawless.
Polish - (2/3) Quality: The first mistake is the typo in "legendary" type, the second mistake in the mechanic - there is no such thing as "your" permanents. "You control" or "you own" are more known. (2/2) *Main Challenge: Yes. (2/2) Subchallenges: Yes.
Total: 21,5/25
*An entry with 0 points here is subject to disqualification.
Rakmor, Unquiet Volcano
Legendary Land — Volcano (R) T: Add R to your mana pool.
Whenever a player casts a spell, Rakmor, Unquiet Volcano deals damage to each player equal to the number of Volcanoes on the battlefield. “The most malleable metal comes from the most restless of places.”
—Kovan, master blacksmith
Design - (2,5/3) Appeal: I guess this appeals to all players but not players like to take damage back. Some can abuse it but still. (3/3) Elegance: As clear as it can be.
Development - (2,5/3) Viability: Strong enough to be a mythic. (2,5/3) Balance: I don't see problems here since the sword is double-edged. Of course building around it is required.
Creativity - (2,5/3) Uniqueness: Unique enough but I know plenty of damaging lands. (2,5/3) Flavor: Name reminds me of Rushmore but why not. Flavor text is kinda plain but okay.
Total: 22,5/25

Gluah, the Convulsing Swamp
Legendary Land - Swamp (M) (T: Add B to your mana pool.)
Whenever you tap Gluah, the Convulsing Swamp for mana, you lose 2 life unless you sacrifice a creature. If you do, put X Corpse counters on Gluah, where X is the sacrificed creature’s converted mana cost.
At the beginning of the end step, if there are six or more Corpse counters on Gluah, transform it.
//
Disgorging Murk
Legendary Land - Swamp (M) (T: Add B to your mana pool.)
Whenever you tap Disgorging Murk for mana, remove a Corpse counter from it. If you do, create a tapped 2/2 black Zombie creature token.
At the beginning of the end step, if there are no Corpse counters on Disgorging Murk, transform it.
Design - (2,5/3) Appeal: Not all players like to sacrifice creatures but the effect worth it. (2/3) Elegance: Wordy.
Development - (3/3) Viability: Mythic no less. (2,5/3) Balance: I like how it interacts with tokens. Zombie making is quite strong here but this is not no-brainer.
Creativity - (3/3) Uniqueness: More unique than any Ixalan transform land. (3/3) Flavor: No problems here.
Polish - (1,5/3) Quality: Capitalized counters. Also you forgot "Transforms from ..." part - see Ixalan transform lands. (2/2) *Main Challenge: Yes. (2/2) Subchallenges: Yes.

Legendary Land - Inn
T: Add C to your mana pool.
T, Tap another Inn: Add R or G to your mana pool. If this mana is spent on a creature spell, it can't be countered by spells or abilities.
All of the fables and legends you hear being sung are born here.
Design -
(1.5/3) Appeal: Timmy and Spike like both like uncounterable spells, but Spike doesn't like having to tap 2 lands for only 1 mana.
(3/3) Elegance: Clean and simple.
Development -
(1.5/3) Viability: No rarity.
Creativity -
(2/3) Uniqueness: Cavern of Souls and Boseiju, Who Shelters All come to mind, but this has its own identity and mechanics.
(3/3) Flavor: Gotta admit I love the flavor here. An Inn where legendary heroes begin their adventures.
Polish -
(1.5/3) Quality: Rarity is mandatory for MCC(-1). Should be "that spell" instead of "it" (-0.5).

3GWU: Until end of turn, Cathedral of Bliss becomes a 6/6 legendary green, white, and blue Angel creature with flying and lifelink named Asha the Blissful. It's still a land.
Design -
(3/3) Appeal: Timmy is 100% onboard with a 6/6 Angel with lifelink. Spike and Johnny are always interested in a multi-land with basic land types. The fact that it's a manland is just icing on the cake.
(2.5/3) Elegance: 8 lines of text is acceptable for a mythic, but there's a lot going on here.
Development -
(2.5/3) Viability: This feels more like a mono-white card with blue and green tacked on for flavor.
Creativity -
(2/3) Uniqueness: Manlands are nothing new, but Alaran shard manlands with basic land types are something else.
(3/3) Flavor: Flavor seems great, even if I am picturing a cathedral transforming into a giant angel.
Polish -
(3/3) Quality: I don't see any problems

Design -
(2/3) Appeal: Timmy doesn't care. Spike is intrigued. Johnny is drooling.
(3/3) Elegance: Clear as crystal.
Development -
(2.5/3) Viability: What's a structure and why should I care?
(2/3) Balance: There's probably some combo that busts this wide open, but without a way to consistently put lands in the 'yard it's kinda underwhelming.
Creativity -
(3/3) Uniqueness: There's been cards like this with creatures, but never with lands.
(3/3) Flavor: I really like this one.
Polish -
(3/3) Quality:
Unless stated otherwise a card only has abilities while on the battlefield so you don't really have to specify that. (-0.5)I stand corrected by Necrotic Ooze.(1/2) *Main Challenge: Subtracting a point here because while it can potentially add colored mana, it won't without help.

Legendery Land - Relic (Mythic)
(Whenever a creature deals combat damage to you, its controller gains control of all your Relics and untaps them.)
When The Ethernal Palace enters the battlefield, you become the monarch.
T: Add W or B to your mana pool.
Design -
(2/3) Appeal: Timmy likes the potential politics. Johnny is intrigued. Spike doesn't like sharing his things.
(3/3) Elegance: Looks good to me.
Development -
(2.5/3) Viability: Power level says Mythic but it "feels" Rare.
(1/3) Balance: Legendary and the possibility of your opponent stealing it isn't enough of a drawback for a dual land that enters untapped and has an upside. I'll admit it's a thin line to walk. Relic looks like it'll either be a blast to play with or a nightmare.
Creativity -
(3/3) Uniqueness: Only other land that deals with the monarchy is Throne of the High City and that Relic mechanic looks interesting.
(3/3) Flavor: I like how you tied the Relic ability to the Monarch ability, it captures the feel of getting run out of your own palace by the latest coup.
Polish -
(1.5/3) Quality: I don't think ethernal is a word, at least in English (-0.5). Legendary is misspelled (0.5). Should be "gains control of each Relic you control." (-0.5)

Design -
(2.5/3) Appeal: Timmy likes the huge amounts of damage this will throw around. Johnny has plenty of ways to abuse this - Mirror Gallery, Vesuva, and Rune of Protection: Lands? Spike also likes the quantity of free damage, but dislikes how hard it is to rein in.
(3/3) Elegance: Solidly elegant indeed.
Development -
(3/3) Viability: Rare seems correct, and being associated with red/producing red mana is a no-brainer.
(1.5/3) Balance: I'm glad you thought twice about making this a Mountain and thus fetchable. Even in this state this is an extremely strong aggro card. Might earn itself a Commander ban if people abused it very badly, but then again in 40-life Magic it's less dangerous.
Creativity -
(3/3) Uniqueness: Really unique for a land, especially with the use of a unique subtype. The closest comparison is Shivan Gorge, which itself is very different.
(3/3) Flavor: Great name that rolls off the tongue, sick flavor text. Altogether sweet.
Polish -
(3/3) Quality: Good.
(2/2) *Main Challenge: Done.
(2/2) Subchallenges: And done.
Total: 23/25
Design -
(1.5/3) Appeal: Timmy wants a Zombie army but doesn't want to have to deal with card disadvantage and a long wait on the way there.
Development -
(3/3) Viability: Black-related/Swamp is right, and yeah, mythic is where a card of this sheer complexity should go.
(3/3) Balance: That is a pretty damn good transformed half, but is it too little too late for what you pay to get to that point? This is certainly not a strong card. Niche Commander use is where you'd find it.
Creativity -
(3/3) Uniqueness: Definitely strongly unique.
Polish -
(2/3) Quality: Counter names aren't capitalized. You did this four times, but at least you were consistent, so only one point off.
(2/2) *Main Challenge: Good.
(2/2) Subchallenges: Done.
Total: 20/25
Design -
(2/3) Appeal: Timmy likes his spells not to be countered. Johnny is the type of player who would build a deck with all the Inns. Spike doesn't ever want to pay mana to make mana, even if it's filtering, especially not mana he can only get from a specific nonbasic land type.
(3/3) Elegance: Nothing wrong here.
Development -
(2/3) Viability: No rarity. This could and should be uncommon. The red-green association is at least right.
(2.5/3) Balance: Not knowing a single thing about the other Inns makes this way hard to evaluate. However, the sheer parasitism of the mechanic makes this seem very underpowered, enough to dock half a point for it.
Creativity -
(1.5/3) Uniqueness: Boseiju, Who Shelters All is an obvious comparison. So is Cavern of Souls.
(2.5/3) Flavor: Is there something I'm missing? There's a bit of a disconnect between the "Inn-of-Ancient-Minstrels-Singing-Ballads" thing and the uncounterability. Still, the name and flavor text are good.
Polish -
(0.5/3) Quality: "Tap another untapped Inn you control:" Uncounterability clause is wrong - creature spells can't be countered by fizzling, so the "by spells or abilities" part is plain unnecessary. Also, no rarity.
(2/2) *Main Challenge: Good.
(2/2) Subchallenges: Done.
Total: 18/25
Design -
(2.5/3) Appeal: Timmy loves legendary lands that can become legendary beaters.
Development -
(3/3) Viability: Mythic is obvious, the color associations are also obvious because Bant.
(2/3) Balance: This is probably quite a bit too good to be a Plains and therefore fetchable, if only for the flexibility of the mana it can produce, painlessly, right out of the gate. The manland ability is just gravy in that situation.
Creativity -
(2.5/3) Uniqueness: Half a Murmuring Bosk, half a ZEN/BFZ block manland... unique in terms of being a package deal.
Polish -
(2/3) Quality: Failed to italicize reminder text.
(2/2) *Main Challenge: Done.

At the beginning of the end step, if there are six or more Corpse counters on Gluah, transform it.

Disgorging Murk
Legendary Land - Swamp (M)
(T: Add B to your mana pool.)
Whenever you tap Disgorging Murk for mana, remove a Corpse counter from it. If you do, create a tapped 2/2 black Zombie creature token.
At the beginning of the end step, if there are no Corpse counters on Disgorging Murk, transform it.
Design -
(2,5/3) Appeal: Not all players like to sacrifice creatures but the effect worth it.
(2/3) Elegance: Wordy.
Development -
(3/3) Viability: Mythic no less.
(2,5/3) Balance: I like how it interacts with tokens. Zombie making is quite strong here but this is not no-brainer.
Creativity -
(3/3) Uniqueness: More unique than any Ixalan transform land.
(3/3) Flavor: No problems here.
Polish -
(1,5/3) Quality: Capitalized counters. Also you forgot "Transforms from ..." part - see Ixalan transform lands.
(2/2) *Main Challenge: Yes.
(2/2) Subchallenges: Yes.
Total: 21,5/25
