In recent years, MTG has been working hard to build up its cast of characters. You've been drafted to do just this. You'll be building a new planeswalker character from the ground up. Every card you make for this month's CCL will relate to this character in some way.
The most prominent thing about planeswalkers is that they're able to travel across planes, but sometimes the most important thing about a journey is not the destination, it's the friends we made along the way. Challenge
Design a common or uncommon, non-legendary creature card. This creature is a retainer or ally of your planeswalker from Round 1 and is the same color or colors.
Make sure to include a rarity.
Your card is exactly the same colors as your round 1 card.
PLEASE NOTE: This month will continue the trial use of the "Mandatory Top 3 Rule." For this month, you must submit a Top 3 during a round's critique period in order to receive any points for the round. Submitting critiques as well will be worth 2 bonus points in the round.
Your submissions are due Friday, November 10, 23:59 CET (UTC+01:00). Please note that your host is in European time, so round closings and postings will be based on that this month.

Great entries, everyone! Round 2 is now closed. I can't wait to see what you come up with next, but for now, it is time for ratings and critiques. Please find your name on the list below and do a top 3 with, and optionally critique, the entry of the 6 users above you.
Jimmy Groove - Not the most original design, as a big Night Market Lookout, but definitely has amazing flavor and seems like it'd play well. I love interactive, somewhat-pushed uncommons like this.
Antiantiserum - No entry.
Legend - Effective, comboriffic, build-around, perfect for uncommon. I much preferred the Parliament Owl flavor rather than the current more generic flavor.
RaikouRider - Nice name and flavor text. Could maybe stand to be a 2/4? Effect's fairly strong but won't accelerate anything out too fast considering it's a three-drop. Compare Dragonspeaker Shaman.
IcariiFA - Solid stuff. Probably would have to be rare in a real situation but I could see it possibly justified at uncommon. Usually these cards have the "Can't block" clause but this is multicolor and expensive so I guess it can be a worthy exception. I like how it works with Portost. Also, flavor's pretty good.
picnic_bomber - Now this is a build-around uncommon! Much like Icarii's card, the effect seems more appropriate for rare, but I'll excuse it just because the flavor of the Ninja leaving an afterimage is so good. Seems like it'd play quite interestingly but the costs and situationality are all enough that it's not easily breakable.
Femeref Griot WG
Creature - Human Cleric (U)
Enchantment spells you cast cost 1 mana less to cast. It is said that a griot can read ancient stories in the sun beams and in the flight of birds, and can listen to the ancient incantations of the rustling leaves and the rushing rivers
2/2
Outwordly Guardian 1WU
Creature - Illusion (Rare)
You may cast Outwordly Guardian from exile.
Exile Outwordly from your graveyard or your hand: Prevent all damage that would be dealt to target legendary creature or planeswalker you control.
3/3
Sinergica, I see potential to play in many decks of edh, part of the challenge was that the card was uncomun points less (3)
-------------
Conclave Miscreant 2UB
Creature - Faerie Rogue (U)
Flash
Flying
When Conclave Miscreant enters the battlefield, target creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn. Xyli has taught me new tricks she learned from outside the Conclave.
2/2
Very weak, I do not see synergy, versatile as a non-direct removal, if you lower the cost to UB it could be considered as a better card, since it does not impact much the state of the game.
-------------
Gerula's Tormentor 2BR
Creature-Nightmare Horror (U)
Whenever you pay life, Gerula's Tormenter deal 1 damage to each opponent
Pay 2 life: Gerula's Tormentor gains lifelink until end of turn. Activate this ability only once each turn. You will become what you have fled. So run, and leave a trail of oil shining in your wake. -Azax-Azog
3/4
Woow, if your card is good, I have in mind several decks that could be rotated around it with either one or several cards. For its writing I consider that you forced the rarity to cover the requirements of the event because I would make it rare. (2)
-------------
Mindblitz Familiar 1R (U)
Creature - Elemental Bird
Flying
Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, put a +1/+1 counter on Mindblitz Familiar. "It feeds off my lightning and I have something to blast when I'm angry. We both win."
- Misandra, Ruin Maniac
Lots of flavor with the first entry, it could even be used with other decks of thematic storm.
-------------
Collector of Breath WUB
Creature - Zombie Wizard(U)
Flying
Whenever Collector of Breath becomes tapped, target opponent loses 3 life and you gain 3 life. When Breaker's spark ignited and he pulled Innistrad into the Lost Shoud, he brought an era of three centuries of peace and tranquility. All it cost the citizens was a portion of their souls.
0/4
It feels that the objectives of the challenge are met, but it is still a broken card, since by itself it takes 3 lives without the need to attack (say an Opposition or Azami, Lady of Scrolls, to mention a few), it is outside the range of damages to remove the card.
Koopa: Probably could cost two mana. This is absolutely how WotC would design the card, though. Have we even seen a remotely playable Faerie since Quickling?
Sheoldred: Probably should be rare. This is a two-card combo with any card that allows you to pay life 1 at a time. This is probably fine for big formats, but would be heavily restrict what could be printed in smaller constructed formats.
Subject16: Missing p/t? I think for this to be red it has to be 0/1. Reminds me of Storm Entity. Cool alternate win condition for prowess-based decks. Could get big quickly.
Jimmy Groove: A six life swing every turn for three mana seems a little bit much for three mana. It doesn't even need to hit the player - just needs to attack. I think this would be fine if it drained 2 life, but 3 is a bit much.
Antiantiserum: NCNS
Legend: Solid draft pick. Nothing terribly exciting about it - just overall solid.
Sheoldred Not bad, though the trade off between the two abilities is the distraction here. It's an easy two card combo with another card that pays life.
Subject16 Super prowess, but it's not very original.
Jimmy Groove Quite the perfect little card.. Perhaps 4 toughness is high, but it depends on the environment and what else is around in a tricolored set.
Antiantiserum N/A
Legend This is a good card, probably a rare. Deserves flavor text.
RaikouRider Solid naya entry. It might be narrow enough to justify how strong it is. Untapping with this is scary.
Beura, Heir of Azor (Mythic) 4WU
Legendary Planeswalker - Beura

[+4]: You gain 4 life and scry 4.

Flying
Whenever you gain life, you may choose a counter on target permanent. If you do, put another of those counters on it.
Fine, as your planeswalker doesn't actually do much with counters, the interaction is a bit limited, but you can get the ulti one turn later out of this. 2/2 flying for two is a nice body and the ability can come handy but you need both a source of lifegain and something caring about counters to make this shine.

I take this is an uncommon, but wityhout the deathtouch it could have assed as a nice common. I don't think deathtouch mixed with a sacrifice ability caring about attacking creature fit well. The synergy is a bit weak, apart from hosing attackers a bit more.
Mandria, The Gentle Storm2UU
Legendary Planeswalker - Mandria (M)
Ninjutsu UU (UU, Return an unblocked attacker you control to hand: Put this card onto the battlefield from your hand tapped and attacking.)
[+2]: Create a 1/1 blue Ninja creature token that's unblockable.
[-1]: Search your library for a Ninja card and put it into your hand. Shuffle your library.
[-8]: You get an emblem with "You may pay 0 rather than pay Ninjutsu costs for Ninjas you control"
{3}
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Planar Origin: Kamigawa
Shadowmist Shinobi3U
Creature - Human Ninja (U)
Ninjutsu 1U (1U, Return an unblocked attacker you control to hand: Put this card onto the battlefield from your hand tapped and attacking.)
Whenever a Ninja you control is returned to your hand, you may pay 1. If you do, create a token that's a copy of that creature, except it's an Illusion in addition to its other creature types and has "Whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability, sacrifice it."
2/2
I don't think this is an uncommon. Making copies is a rare effect, outside myriad and populate I can't think of instances of creature copies being created at uncommon. It's very powerful, specially because this kind of removes the cost of returning. Also, I'm not that sure but as long as you have the mana you can put copy after copy and exploit triggers, which is something I'm not sure you meant and that doesn't help to balance it.
Temidon, Renewer of Valor1GW
Legendary Planeswalker - Temidon (M)
+1: Until your next turn, whenever a creature you control is dealt damage, put a +1/+1 counter on it.
-2: Return up to two target creature cards with converted mana cost 1 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield.
-6: Put three +1/+1 counters on target creature, then double the number of +1/+1 counters on each creature you control.

Pasturequeen Ewe1GW
Creature - Sheep (U) G, T: For each kind of counter on target permanent, put two counters of that kind on it. W, T: Creature spells you cast cost 2 less to cast until end of turn.
2/2
I think you almost hit the nail with this one: Two counters on something is just too much. think that you can get the ulti of your planeswalker in the next turn it came into play. Once counter might has been safer. Anyway, while I think the ammount of counters is a bit pushed, i do feel that the rarity is right and all around a nice design. Another thing to point is that white feels a bit slapped in there, but fine.
Shalin, Wandering Wrangler2RGW
Legendary Planeswalker - Shalin {M}
[+1]: Target creature you control gets +2/+2 and gains first strike and trample until end of turn. It must be blocked this turn if able.
[-1]: Gain control of target creature until end of turn. Untap and exert that creature. It gains trample and haste until end of turn.

Creature - Elf Shaman {U}
Creature spells with power 5 or greater you cast cost 2 less to cast. Inspired by the God-Hydra's Hymn, the Gargantuan let out a victorious bellow, its tusks goring the charging dragon out of the sky.
2/3
A nice design but it fails to synergize with your planeswalker. I don't know what you meant, but a trigger on 5/5's doing something might have worked better. That aside, I think it's a very nice cost reduced very fit for the colors.
Portost, of the Lost FutureWBG
Legendary Planeswalker - Portost (M)

This one is very powerful and works very well with your planeswalker. I do feel there's room for polemizing abount its rarity, but being three colors and having a triggered ability keeps it within boudaries I guess.

If Forgotten Mentor would be put into your graveyard from anywhere, you may pay 1WBG. If you do, return it to the battlefield tapped.

Creature - Human Cleric (U)
Enchantment spells you cast cost 1 mana less to cast.
It is said that a griot can read ancient stories in the sun beams and in the flight of birds, and can listen to the ancient incantations of the rustling leaves and the rushing rivers
2/2
Synergistic, but it's a less powerful Herald of the Pantheon
----------
Creature - Illusion (Rare)
You may cast Outwordly Guardian from exile.
Exile Outwordly from your graveyard or your hand: Prevent all damage that would be dealt to target legendary creature or planeswalker you control.
3/3
Sinergica, I see potential to play in many decks of edh, part of the challenge was that the card was uncomun points less (3)
-------------
Creature - Faerie Rogue (U)
Flash
-------------
Creature-Nightmare Horror (U)
Whenever you pay life, Gerula's Tormenter deal 1 damage to each opponent
Pay 2 life: Gerula's Tormentor gains lifelink until end of turn. Activate this ability only once each turn.
You will become what you have fled. So run, and leave a trail of oil shining in your wake. -Azax-Azog
3/4
Woow, if your card is good, I have in mind several decks that could be rotated around it with either one or several cards. For its writing I consider that you forced the rarity to cover the requirements of the event because I would make it rare. (2)
-------------
Creature - Elemental Bird
-------------
Creature - Zombie Wizard(U)

Emille, Seven-Sting Dancer Shalin Nariya
Subject16 Super prowess, but it's not very original.
Jimmy Groove Quite the perfect little card.. Perhaps 4 toughness is high, but it depends on the environment and what else is around in a tricolored set.
Antiantiserum N/A
Legend This is a good card, probably a rare. Deserves flavor text.
RaikouRider Solid naya entry. It might be narrow enough to justify how strong it is. Untapping with this is scary.

A nice design but it fails to synergize with your planeswalker. I don't know what you meant, but a trigger on 5/5's doing something might have worked better. That aside, I think it's a very nice cost reduced very fit for the colors.
This one is very powerful and works very well with your planeswalker. I do feel there's room for polemizing abount its rarity, but being three colors and having a triggered ability keeps it within boudaries I guess.
