In recent years, MTG has been working hard to build up its cast of characters. You've been drafted to do just this. You'll be building a new planeswalker character from the ground up. Every card you make for this month's CCL will relate to this character in some way.
Challenge
Design a planeswalker card for a new character. Include in your post the race and planar origin of your planeswalker character
Make sure to include a rarity.
Your card can be colorless or multicolor.
Your planeswalker must be of a race that exists in MTG.
Your planeswalker's origin plane must be a canonical plane; any plane that's on a card (including Planechase cards) is fair game.
Your planeswalker is an original character, not a character that exists in any capacity in canon.
Stay tuned for October's CCL Final Poll. Anyone who votes will receive 2 bonus points for November's CCL!
PLEASE NOTE: This month will continue the trial use of the "Mandatory Top 3 Rule." For this month, you must submit a Top 3 during a round's critique period in order to receive any points for the round. Submitting critiques as well will be worth 2 bonus points in the round.
Your submissions are due Sunday, November 5, 23:59 CET (UTC+01:00). Please note that your host is in European time, so round closings and postings will be based on that this month.

Thanks everyone for participating in Round 1! The round is now closed and critiques may begin. Please find your name on the list below and do a top 3 with, and optionally critique, the entry of the 6 users below you.
Antiantiserum - Jökull, the Glacier Sage: Using a keyword action that isn't evergreen usually isn't done, but this uses both mechanics well. The whole package is quite cohesive.
Legend - Beura, Heir of Azor: A strong stabilizing toolset leading into a Stasis ult. Makes sense and invokes flavor through mechanics. Potentially scary, but probably alright.
RaikouRider - Shalin, Wandering Wrangler: It uses a keyword action that isn't evergreen, which is generally not done in Magic. Otherwise, a pretty straightforward Naya-walker.
IcariiFA - Portost, of the Lost Future: An interesting recycling-based planeswalker. Fits the colors well and the abilties fit together.
picnic_bomber - Mandria, The Gentle Storm: Non-evergreen keywords are generally not used, and the fact that it makes your planeswalker attacking is problematic (pretty sure rules-wise it'd just ignore that part, but it'd confuse players). The ult is way too weak.
void_nothing - Temidon, Renewer of Valor: Produces a lot of counters fast, and has decent synergies.
mirrodin71 - I like all the concepts here, but the the +1 ability is way too oppressive - there gets to be a point where you just can't attack into multiple Bladetraps. The 0 ability feels great, especially for a defensive, white-black walker, and the -X is... well, it'd play interestingly. I don't ordinarily like "no ultimate" planeswalkers but this is a great design, development issues aside. However, flavorwise there's one problem - "Albus Corvus" just doesn't fit with the vaguely Middle Eastern names of Zendikari Kor, like Ayli, Munda, and Akiri.
Hemlock - #throwback! I love Enchantress (the deck archetype) so there's obvious appeal for me here. The "can be your commander" line is a bit odd, not being required, but she's so build-around that it kind of makes sense. I particularly like the minus abilities; the Yavimaya Enchantress token thing is a standout.
netn10 - This doesn't really feel like a five-color 'walker; I know that not every five-color card has to represent all colors mechanically (sup, Child of Alara) but with a planeswalker it just feels like there should be more going on. There's no true plus ability, and the ult is literally "win the game", which just feels like lazy design.
Koopa - That is probably the most low-impact plus ability ever outside of Gideon, Champion of Justice's. 1 starting loyalty is a nice touch to make this feel like a Fae of Lorwyn, which the +2 and 0 abilities also accomplish very well. The ultimate needs development - as-is it's an auto-mill-to-death - but otherwise great concept.
Sheoldred - Love her. You captured me straight away with the flavor - with a name like that, I have to imagine a captive of Phyrexia who got away before being compleated properly (thus retaining her planeswalker spark) but after being severely ****ed up. Her being a Neurok is a little odd with no blue in the cost - there seems to be nothing wrong in the flavor with her being an ex-Moriok or Vulshok - but otherwise I love the "masochism" +1 ability and the quick and cheap but all-or-nothing ultimate.
Subject16 - "Milandra Aton" is just not a Ravnican name, and especially not an Izzet name, although flavorwise I guess you could say she could have gone back to her birth name after leaving the League. This card is I guess serviceable, although the plus ability would probably whiff quite a bit, which feels bad; all in all the card feels like a Chandra without that much differentiation.
Jimmy Groove: I like the idea of using creatures to add loyalty counters instead of an ability, but I feel like it should be a 0 ability rather than an upkeep trigger for it to be a bit cleaner. I also get the feeling that the ultimate might be a bit too powerful and/or easy to attain.
Antiantiserum: Combining keywords from different blocks (detain and exert) puts me off in terms of simplicity of reading, especially considering exerting a creature/permanent you don't control doesn't actually do anything.
Legend: I feel like she's a lot more powerful that people might think. Her + ability alone I think is stupidly good considering Scry 4 in a control-esque deck that would run this is the bees knees, with added bonus of life gain and 4 loyalty means she's a massive sponge. I think at +3/gain3/scry 3 would still be really strong. The 0 ability is good, but also quite sponge-y, and her ultimate is very silly but balanced at -14.
RaikouRider: A few wording issues are present here and there, but it's not a bad card overall. Exerting won't work like how you want it to however, and the ultimate is really interesting, but it's a shame it doesn't interact with your planeswalker more (an ability that made some tokens would have made the ability so much more potent.)
IcariiFA: The two +1 abilities seem really fun and synergistic, but I feel that the ultimate needs a bit of polish. Casting from the library seems more like a jeskai/temur thing than an Abzan so I'd change it to put onto the battlefield instead. Also I don't know if X being twice the number of cards in the library is overkill or not. With 10 cards in the grave (very easily obtainable) then you can get a huge amount of creatures out which might be a bit too massive an ultimate for a turn 5.
picnic_bomber: Ninjutsu on a planeswalker doesn't functionally make sense but I understand what you were trying to do with it. The abilities themselves are very limited to the Ninja class, it's a lot like Nissa Revane only there are a lot less Ninjas and Nissa's ultimate was devastatingly strong whereas your one is just a bit "eh".
