Ruandih is shocked. "Sorry Ma'am" says Ruandih/the assistant the assistant takes a step back and then the glow fades from her eyes. The assistant picks up where she left off before Ruandih cast the spell. "--We need a new stock of Verdant Spellglobes. The gremlins crashed the wedding in Sector 17. Why are you staring at me Madam?"
Ruandih decides this is a good time to leave. Ruandih walks the streets for a place where he can get a good night's sleep. At one point as he walks, Ruandih tries to say something. He opens his mouth. Nothing comes out. "Oh, well." he thinks. "I have other ways of communicating."
"Oh, glorp." Miswik says, peering down at the water all around the city. Miswik is not a particularly strong swimmer. "Oh well, I suppose I wasn't expecting anything all that good anyway."
Miswik slumps his way into the city, choosing one of the spiral wings pretty much at random and walking up, seeing what there is to see, hoping pessimistically that maybe he might find some bastion of religion, faith, or healing in this city where there might be friends.
OOC: All disappointment Miswik expresses at the world is just character stuff, not my actual judgment. I'm into this.

Summon a Ride Balance:Darklit Gargoyle says this should be fine, with losing the "artifact creature in a block where artifacts matter" and gaining a point of toughness. You have it at the wrong rarity, though, as this could easily be a common, since it doesn't exhibit any particularly complex ideas. 8/10 Flavor: The scenario you describe in the flavor text doesn't seem all that chaotic. Sure, storms are chaotic, but a storm can be expected to have lightning and wind, often simultaneously. Find an Elemental Balance: So, this is Flamekin Harbinger, but dealing 1 damage instead of giving a 1/1 body. That is awesome. I want to say that it's too similar to Flamekin Harbinger, but it's really not. This design should be fine. Only thing is that tutors are usually kept at uncommon or rare in modern design, so, point there. 8/10 Flavor: So it's like a drop of blood drawing in more sharks. Very nice flavor. The only gripe I have is that it categorizes all elementals into a single group. Why do water elementals draw air elementals using their flames? 9/10 Polish: Good man. 5/5 Overall Score: 22 (Success, Mana Spent, 2 exp gained)
After a long time flying about the sky of Morkla, casting a few spells, and even summoning a storm elemental to help keep your search going, you're finally rewarded: Far below, directly where you sculpted your runes, a shape emerges…
But continues to emerge…
Holy crap you summoned a big one…
After about a full minute, the colossus of lava looks down upon you, towering at least half a mile tall, and made of lava of a kind unlike the other lava around you, sleeker, and seeming to flow more quickly, just looking at it hurts you eyes.
After a few seconds of glowering, the elemental speaks. It's language is strange, but similar to the storm elementals you conversed with at great length back home. You miss a few words as it roars, molten spittle flying at you from it's gigantic maw, "Why have you called, ???. Your runes ??? strange. ??? do not call ??? ones. Not before. You are first, ???. Why have you called, ???."
When you explain that you want to be taught, the giant throws back it's head in laughter, "Teach ???. What ??? want to learn? How to melt?! I can teach ??? how to melt!"
Though, you have to give it one last chance, and request a task to earn it's tutelage. At this, the giant tilts his head at you, "Prove to ??? That you deserve to learn, that ??? can learn, that ??? has something more than ??? has."
Your proximity to the lava awards you another R, and, presuming you don't move next round, will deal you 1 damage.
Xenaris was awed at the great colossus of lava. It was on a completely different level from the elementals he had met before. His friend Uzurai was one of the most powerful elementals in Fiona but was absolutely no match for what lay before him.
His resolve wavered for a moment but his determination kept him from despair. He would prove himself to this lordly lava elemental. Conveniently, how to prove himself was simple. The lava would melt him soon if he did nothing. Simply surviving would be a task all its own.
However, he also had to prove he could learn and he had potential to grow. With some effort he calmed his nerves and simply let himself be. The answer came to him as if it had been there all along. He channeled his mana around himself and attempted to transform himself.

Enchant creature
Enchanted creature gets +2/+0, has protection from red, and is a red Elemental in addition to its other colors and types. This effect doesn't remove Be the Flame. Why fight fire when one can become it?
Rather than fighting against the lava and its heat, he embraced it and took it all into himself. His body began to become similar to the lava elemental, his skin becoming orange-black and burning with orange flame. In place of hair he sprouted a long streak of bluish-green flames, making himself quite distinct from any other Morklan elemental.
(OOC: He's becoming a flame-kin rather than a lava elemental or some such.)
Attempting to maintain his form, he looked the giant, colossal elemental in the eye. "Does this prove I can learn? Does this prove I can become something more than I am?" he asked. He fought to control his flames as he did so, trying not to cause harm to either his mount or himself.

It takes a little while to find a passage into the wrecked tower which was both large enough to admit you and relatively light on traffic, but, after about an hour of searching, you find one that is actually completely devoid of traffic. Dropping inside, you find yourself in what seems to be a ruptured ventilation shaft, and figure out why there's been no foot traffic to here: It's dark, and no one should be storing things in a ventilation shaft, but as you thing about it, you discern that you could likely make it to any location in the tower using these shafts as avenues, and after only a few minutes walking, you've already found a few locations:
A busted-up laboratory with lots of shattered tools.
Several large apartments, plants and dishes shattered about everywhere. Three of which seem to still have movement in them.
A room with a safe which some scavengers have already found.
A recreation center with the pool draining into the hallway.
A bar with two figures visible beneath the overturned bar.
A garden currently being crushed beneath the weight of all the metal above it.
The shaft seems to be getting more and more unsteady as you go. You could investigate these locations you've already found, or press further on, into the ventilation shaft, but that might require you to crawl for a ways.
Creeping and crawling through the ventilation shaft, Joran surveyed his options. The lab might have some good stuff, but would probably be hard to sell on unless they were in that particular field. The bar, probably wasn't going to have anything useful. The safe was tempting, but after his encounter with the guards earlier, he wasn't in the mood for another fight over what might be only semi-valuable.
He continued to ruminate for a while before coming upon a strange but promising thought. if this recreation center had lockers of some sort, then there might be easy money and valuables waiting, and given the leaking state of it, it was doubtful he'd run into to many scavengers there. It was as good a place to start as any as he found the entrance, and popped the grate opened and lowered himself into the recreation center to begin his search.

OOC: Sure
Weni is very talkative, always chattering away, if you seem interested. When you ask her about the Civil Mages of Asha-Ho, she'll explain that, while not feared, they are quite respected, and that becoming a civil mage is not easily, but people aim for it just the same. She then goes on to tell you about her time serving in Asha-Ho's public gardens, where she initially learned their trade. You get the jist that they're about at journeyman level, on average. Delshomoru and Erudra are closer to expert level magicians, however, Erudra from experience and Delshomoru from elemental affinity. You also learn that Weni is slightly jealous of Delshomoru having a natural edge over other civil mages.
If you comment on the location of Ma-Vershei, Erudra will enlighten you that, while, yes, Ma-Vershei is located in a good place for water, Foru-Foru is far better off, being entire supported by a large lake that it's built next to.
You learn of the seven cities of Uhumha, as you travel. Cellim-Del, Fa-Halloum, and Ir-Ren are the three southernmost, and Asha-Ho is the northernmost. Foru-Foru, Ma-Vershei, and Jun-Irkrat lie along the middle of the sphere. Cellim-Del is the first of the three southern cities you will travel to, but there is no pressure yet, considering those from Asha-Ho are welcome in it's streets, and the city has it's corps of falcon-riders to defend people, should they be attacked.

With a little quick magic on your part, you easily baffle the guards bracing for Lumpin's charge, resulting in them getting thrown aside like rag dolls by the Loxodon's mighty fists. Just behind him come a flood of slaves, who quickly pummel the few guards who have not scattered, into unconsciousness.
You all cause quite a bit of commotion, and now, you can hear a good many shouts and running footsteps coming your way through the streets. You feel you've likely exhausted all the mana you're going to get, barring magical radiation, so you had best figure out a way forward from here.
The alleyways the guards had occupied are now empty, so you could go that way, then again, they might be able to predict that. As you debate, Lumpin looks to you, still sitting on his shoulder, and then points to the bridge once more. Meanwhile the other slaves are hastily picking up swords and putting on armor too big for them as another slave unlocks the remaining cages.

Slip a Fortified Door Balance: Bit of a stretch for black, considering that only one card, Tormented Soul, is unblockable in black. Should be balanced, considering Gruesome Deformity. As far as complexity goes, it is more common than uncommon, and instant seems an odd choice as well. 4/10 Flavor: No flavor text, when you have plenty of room. Flavor seems mostly based off Gruesome Deformity, which is good. 6/10 Polish: Good man. 5/5 Overall Score: 15 (Failure, Mana Spent)
You try and shift through the door, but find it a little too thick for your ghostly form. However, your attempt does manage to garner you some new information: the door is not locked, but melted to it's frame.
Chesphon Mindtunneler
Lodus nods his consent, and you two proceed to settle down behind a large boulder for the rest of the night and the following day. You don't see anything pass by during all that time, but it does give you quite some time to converse (It's really up to you what you converse about. He's perfectly fine with awkward silence for the next 18 hours). It also refills your mana stores a bit more, as you gain your choice of BR or RG.
However, at sunset the next day, you manage to spot another line of Ackma marching off into the mountains, in the distance. Time to make your move.
OOC: Also, you need to put forward some effort to acquire sustenance over the course of this time or take -1 to your next card critique, due to hunger. By effort, I mean "card" or "find a restaurant".
Urion Calimenaliphorn
As you attempt to repair the mine cart, you notice that there are several wheelbarrows in the cave as well. None have quite the volume of the mine cart, but they could perhaps carry a single person, or a small load of gems. As you tinker with the cart, though, you also notice that it's particularly heavy, and you'll need to modify it in some way if you intend to be pushing it around these tunnels.
OOC: You'll need to make a card in order to get the cart functional, but it will certainly give you a larger inventory as long as you have it. You can have a wheelbarrow instead, if all you want is a place to put your bindle. I'll let you decide this first, before I move on, so as to not give you information that would change your decision here.
Ruandih
OOC: Two words: sign language. Find a place to learn it. Or learn to read and write and carry around a sign post.
This city is almost completely devoid of good places for a nap, you soon find as you explore the streets. You manage to get a few drinks of cool water when wandering the rich district, leaning out underneath the waterfalls, though soon a guard chases you off. After a while more of walking, you manage to steal into an aviary full of those giant riding falcons. It doesn't take much to convince them that you're nice, and after nibbling a bit on some of the raw meat that they have been given to munch on, you fall asleep in a straw nest, a rather frighteningly large bird cuddled up against you.
Awakening at dawn the next day, you feel you've gained WW from the night, and quickly make it out of the aviary, and back to the streets.
OOC: Sorry if that seemed a little but on autopilot, but you have survivor and you were looking for a place to rest, so I automatically have you the best place to rest and had nothing interrupt your sleep.
Miswik Bagump
After a while of walking, you pass across several different seeming places of faith: a shrine containing a flaming figure, a chapel with nine statues standing in a circle around a spiral staircase leading up to some place you can't see, a small, cloth tent labelled "free healing", manned by a blonde human girl, a large cathedral which is still clearly under construction, and a boat with some holy symbol painted all across it's sides and sails.
You also pass hundreds of other locations, the ones of which stick out in your mind are a man peddling fried squid, a glassblower's shop, and a large shipyard where they seem to be selling, of all things, ships.
Salve
OOC: You hacked my computer and looked at my notes, didn't you? Also, I've understood you so far, no need to explain.
As you look about the forge area, you notice that the whimper you heard earlier is coming from in here, as well as the majority of the molten material. As you carefully examine the place, you finally notice that it wasn't as empty as you once believed. Chained to an anvil on the far side of the room is a short humanoid figure with visibly burned and disfigured flesh, holding it's hands close to it's body as it trembles. You can't tell much about it due to the damage to it's body, but you can tell that it's eyes glow green in all the red light.
Do you proceed?

Survive the Heat Balance: The closest thing I can find to this is Dust Corona, and that indicates that you've gone a little overboard. Instead of evasion, this gives protection from a color, which is far more brutal. Not only that, but you gain a plethora of additional benefits which would only be useful in the correct set, but in the correct set, would be very useful. Sure, Dust Corona isn't the most balanced card in the world, but it was useful in limited, and this certainly would swing games in your favor, given the correct limited environment. Negate the Witches Attack Balance: Okay, yes, you are correct, however, there is no distinction between countering an ability and exiling an ability, thus, "exile target activated or triggered ability" is still wrong. Also, what is the deal with this card? It cancels abilities, then destroys artifacts without targeting or deals damage to creatures without targeting. After much struggling and sweating, Urion managed to move the mine cart a few feet. Its front axle seemed to have been damaged in the fall, and as difficult as it was to push now, loaded with...whatever Urion happened to find, it would be all but impossible.
A more mechanically-minded person would have simply turned the cart over, repaired its axle, then proceed onward with a serviceable minecart to his name. However, Urion was not a mechanically-minded person.
He was a magically-minded one.
Back at the university, classic board-and-wheel gurneys had been outlawed long ago, after the umpteenth time a pair of hapless interns, while transporting an immobile patient, dropped him down a stairwell because the elevators were under repair due to an arcane incident. A more sorcerous solution was adopted, wherein the gurneys were enchanted to levitate of their own accord, and all human effort was reduced to walking and pushing--no lifting required. Urion seemed to recall a weight limit on the spell, but considering the mass of some of the patients that got wheeled...er, floated, into his operating room, he guessed that even carrying a decent amount of gems the cart would clock in well under that mark.

OOC: Urion spends U to get the minecart to float, and pushes it in front of him if successful. Since he is not using the minecart to help himself "fly", only his stuff, I don't think he would need to pay the Equip cost. If you rule otherwise, however, consider it paid.

I hope you didn't get turned around, I know the sign specifies a magic shop, but it was a typo. It wasn't the basement of a magic shop, it meant the magic basement of a shop. You see, I'm not sure where the creature came from, I just came in the other day, and tada, evil jaguar. The basement is magic because the previous owners left some coffin from Fa-Halloum down there when they moved out. Sat down there for years before I bought the place, soaking it up with black mana and spirits. Got rid of the coffin, but the magic stayed. It's okay most of the time, it'll just spook you out, but now it's drawn in, or maybe summoned up, this beast," he rambles off, not even giving you a chance to introduce yourself.

Ivan normally loved cats, but this one had been transformed into a shadow-beast somehow. Almost soulless, the snarling, hissing creature was in a sad state--the Life-Church could not save it as it was. He called on the assistance of a priest that would be able to guide the cat to salvation, though likely not in its current form.

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
"Hell's bells," she voices out in her mind, scrolling quickly through her mind as the energies force their way at her.
"...I've got this.... I hope," she murmurs to herself, exhausting her mana and natural energies to grant a throwback at the witch.

You step out of the shaft, into the tilted recreation center. It's a bit of a struggle to maintain your footing, but after a while, you make it across to the locker room and find that it's halfway collapsed, resulting in all the locker doors having popped open. You proceed to scour the room for as much loot as you can. You manage to find the following items as you go:
62 silver pieces (6.2 gold, or $620)
A set of fine woman's garments
A briefcase (extra inventory)
A broken pair of glasses
A copy of A Guide to Uhumha by Fenwi Di Opirun Kallas
A journal
A damaged wand which you cannot get to function (Still, wands are a big deal)
Though, as you go, you eventually come across a thin piece of sheet metal with an odd set of symbols engraved into it. Curiously, it hasn't been damaged in the chaos:
3 271 41°
90 117 271°
281 2 17°
HÆSi§-Y
Joran looked at the odd thin piece of metal, as he puzzled over the numbers on them. What were the numbers, and what did they mean? Were they coordinates of some kind? If that was the case then what did letters below mean? Joran was broken out of his reverie however, as he realized that this was probably not the best place to be lost in thought.
Snapping out of it, he tucked to coins into a pocket, while putting the metal strip, along with his other recovered items into the briefcase and made his way back to the ventilation shaft, and barring any unforeseen complications started crawling his way back to the outside.

Having said that, I believe you have the correct rarity, considering complexity, just not the correct power level. 5/10 Flavor: Very good flavor. 10/10 Polish: Good man. 5/5 Overall Score: 20 (Failure, Secondary Success, Mana Spent, 1 exp gained)
The colossus roars with laughter as he witnesses your transformation into a Flamekin, "Foolish ???. I do not wish to ??? what ??? can do, but why ??? deserves to learn. Only the strong deserve to learn. Prove your strength! Survive! ???!"
With that, a gargantuan fist of sleek lava begins streaking through the air towards your head, burning you even as you feel the mana flood the world around you, suffusing your body with (B/R)RR.
The colossus just cast:
Atmospheric Ignition3RRR
Instant M
Atmospheric Ignition deals 5 damage to target player and each creature that player controls. This damage can't be prevented. That player can't gain life this turn. Those creatures can't block this turn.
Xenaris felt the great energy behind the elemental's attack. He let the energy suffuse himself. With this energy he could easily survive the attack. However, that wasn't enough for Xenaris. He didn't just want to beat the test by merely surviving. He wanted to meet the strength of the monumental colossus with a strength of his own and best it. But first he would make sure his summoned elemental didn't come to permanent harm. He channeled his mana into a spell of rebirth.
Rise from the AshesB
Instant (C)
Regenerate target red or black creature. When it regenerates this way, put a +1/+1 counter on it. For the flame-kin, death is merely a way to come back stronger than they were before.
The spell would channel the power of the attack from the colossus to reform the elemental stronger and better than ever... in theory anyway. Xenaris was running purely on instincts at this point. Next, he prepared to meet the attack of the colossus. He had a vision of an elemental of both fire and lightning. Whether a creation of his own mind, or something elses he did not know but he knew this was the path he needed to take.
Fury of MalignusR
Sorcery (U)
Target creature gets +3/+0 until end of turn. Damage that would be dealt by that creature can't be prevented this turn. Wherever the great storm went, its rage and anger lingered. The elements continued to batter the land for days and weeks so that all would know its wrath.
I made this uncommon because Unstable Footing was uncommon. "can't be prevented" effects overhwhelming are uncommon/rare effects. Power level wise its a common however.
He used his skill with lightning to draw the magma from the ocean beneath him. The amount of strength he had was enormous but couldn't be held for long. Instead of using it for attack however he would use the magma for defense.
Mannichi's ManueverR
Instant (U)
Switch target creature's power and toughness.
Overload 2R Might from mischief.
Xenaris channeled a great gout of magma at the oncoming fist intending to overwhelm it and push it back if he could.
Xenaris is a 3/1 from Be the Flame. Fury of Malignus makes Xenaris 6/1. Mannichi's Mania switches the power and toughness to make Xenaris 1/6 and survive. I just flavored it as him attacking the fist with an attack of his own.

You hunker down against the marble of the fortified building, some distance away from the hot, metal door, and see about getting some more rest.

Gain Sustenance Balance: So, the life gain seems a little tacked on, and with this being a sorcery and costing 2, it's almost strictly worse than Hunger of the Howlpack, yet is an uncommon. Having more than five lands is about on-par with having a creature die as far as difficulty goes. 5/10 Flavor: I can see the no flavor text, here, as it's got a lot of rules text and is an uncommon. Based on the name, however, I'd have guessed it would have interacted with lands, not creatures and +1/+1 counters. Also, which part is the "food", in-game? The counter or the life gain? Not really vital, just curious. 5/10 Polish: Good man. 5/5 Overall Score: 15 (Success, Mana Spent, 1 exp gained)
As you ask Lodus if he's ready, he'll look at you with that same scowl, but not say anything. You get the message though: I'm a machine and have been sitting here for 18 hours waiting for this moment. OF COURSE I'M READY.
Ereld Nacul
Erudra let's you know that they'll be staying here for at least a week, but you should check back each morning after that. They'll be in the caravan staging area exclusively.
On a sphere like Uhumha, where commerce is everything, every city is essentially a giant bazaar. As you walk, you find food shops with everything from scrambled eggs for 3 coppers a plate, to steamed fillet of hydra neck, for 1 gold a pound. You see clothing and fabric shops selling everything from enchanted cloaks to socks made of a fabric that, once woven, is as hard as diamonds. One clothing shop seems to have a fair bit of commotion coming out of the basement. You spot one wand shop, spread across three layers of the city and made of marble, and dozens of aviaries, often occupying towers and selling giant falcons as riding mount at prices from 5 silver to 10 gold. You see gardens selling sentient mosses and potted plants, forges selling nails and teleporting axes, and even a few lumber yards selling everything from maple to "Mirror Sheen Bark", and all this is only after thirty minutes of strolling the streets. You've already managed to identify three or four large complexes which you believe to be universities, one of which seems to be teaching people to ride the falcons you saw earlier. You'll have to get what your looking for sorted out before you can sort though all this info (either that, or you could make me list everything for sale in the entire metropolis).
On the account of taverns, those take a little longer, but the first one you happen across is a two-layer-spanning complex of bars and basements with a few dozen entrances. You can tell this is a pretty rowdy place, with a loud band, and considering it's getting late in the afternoon, you can already see people halfway to getting drunk.
Salve
At the sudden sound of your voice, the figure tries to leap away with a strangled cry, but only manages to collapse against the anvil, terrified, but, after a moment, confused, as it looks over you.
You notice that the figure is female, and has not been given any clothing. She has a stocky build, like a dwarf, but she is clearly too short to be a dwarf, not to mention her eyes are glowing with green energy. Her right side is clearly far more muscular and toned than her left, suggesting that she's been being forced to work in this forge, likely on the anvil she's chained to.
After a dragging second, she speaks, her voice low and shaky, almost as though she is afraid to speak, "W-who?" It's just the one word.
As you stand there, the heat in the forge grants you another R.

OOC: Lumpin clearly thinks, since you killed the slave salesman for mentioning slaves, that you'd be wanting to free the slaves simply on principle, and not as a debt… though on accounts of debt, he could have intentionally squished you in his hands, but didn't, and even gave you some food, so there. Also,
With a nod towards the other slaves, Lumpin begins to run along behind you. From your aerial viewpoint, you can see that this is going to be a gauntlet. Going through the alleys will require the slaves to walk, at most, three abreast, and there are dozens of them, meaning that, when you pass over the two patrolled lanes on the way to the bridge, the procession will be vulnerable for some time. Then there's also the matter of these foreigners navigating these streets with guards who know them well chasing them down. You can also spot a few homeless people gathering in the alleys, not to mention that there is still the bridge itself to mess with, and how you are uncertain what waits on the other side.

Levitate the Minecart Balance: Convoluted, and considering Shimmering Wings, underpowered. Not only does it only work on creatures with power three or less, but it costs 1 extra and requires a non-Equipment, noncreature artifact in order to affect nonartifact creatures. I suppose it might be feasible as an uncommon, considering how complex it is. Also, microtext. 2/10 Flavor: Nothing too spectacular, but nothing too dismal either. 9/10 Polish: Good man 5/5 Overall Score: 16 (Success, Mana Spent, 1 exp gained)
OOC: Also, you don't have to equip it yet, but once you start transporting people and gemstones, you do.
After getting the minecart mobile once more, you proceed to explore down the shafts, towards the "target" cavern. The one you pick has a gentle slope, but switches back and forth quite often, almost spiraling downward towards the target room. The blockage, when you reach it, appears to be a geological event. A large vein of unrefined Maugnatium ore, likely having been affected by the massive Proteum explosion up above, has been shunting into the tunnel. Too bad it's not a simply cave-in, as, given this construction, it would be easier to solve than "sudden wall of highly dense, magical ore in your path".

Follow Stealthily Balance: This is a very strange card. A rare that reads "1BB, Sacrifice a creature: put a -1/-1 counter on target creature if you have a full graveyard." and "B: Return the sacrificed creature to the battlefield." This is strictly worse than Murder, which is horrendous itself. It's a rare?! Why is it a rare?! Why is the -1/-1 counter conditional? Why do you have to sacrifice a creature? You do realize that the card put into the graveyard is not connected to the creature you sacrificed? Thus returning it at the next upkeep is impossible. 1/10 Flavor: I'm not sure I get your flavor, but you do relate to the effects nicely enough in the flavor text. Also, in-story, are you equating being underground to being in the graveyard? If so, then what is being dead equated to? 4/10 Polish: "in" and "all" (you only sacrificed a single creature) 3/5 Overall Score: 8 (Failure, Mana Spent)
You attempt to cast a spell, but it seems to not be working the way it does back home, and all that happens is a fairly noisy shifting of the ground, at which the fire-eyed man stops, and slowly begins turning around…

OOC: Not big on roleplaying, are you? I thought my silly clothe salesman would at least inspire a comment. For example, you might have convinced him to allow you to trap the cat so you could later train it as a mount. Though, before we progress here, I'll have to ask you how you proceed. You quickly pack up your newly acquired materials and head on back towards the ventilation shaft. However, as you're half-walking, half-climbing across the room with the pool in it, you hear what sounds like the structure groaning, preparing to collapse. Spending up, you make it into the shaft after another moment, and then attempt to start running down the shaft as the groaning progresses and you feel the metal under your feet shift. You get as far as to spot the opening you came in though before the creaking reaches a crescendo and, with a tremendous snap, the floor drops out from under you.
You come to to the sounds of distant metal creaking and continuing to settle. It's dark here, though, you seem to be laying on something soft, but wet. It's not flesh, you know how that feels. More like soaked laundry. Looking about, you can barely make out a few glimmers in the dark. You must have been lucky, and been on the edge of the part of the tower which caved-in, as a wall of twisted metal is smack-dab in front of you, and none of it is on top of you. The briefcase seems to be on your chest, and you think whatever place you're in must be very large.

Be the Flame R
Enchantment - Aura (U)

Stepping inside, you hear a growl and some rattling below your feet just before a bald Kithkin man with a pinc nez comes waddling up to you, "Hello? You here to help root out that damned Beast?

Also, to hide, you need a card, but I'm not going to make 2 players wait 2 days to see if your card works, so…

Slip a Fortified Door
Balance: Bit of a stretch for black, considering that only one card, Tormented Soul, is unblockable in black. Should be balanced, considering Gruesome Deformity. As far as complexity goes, it is more common than uncommon, and instant seems an odd choice as well. 4/10
Flavor: No flavor text, when you have plenty of room. Flavor seems mostly based off Gruesome Deformity, which is good. 6/10
Polish: Good man. 5/5

Sure, Dust Corona isn't the most balanced card in the world, but it was useful in limited, and this certainly would swing games in your favor, given the correct limited environment.

Survive the Heat
Balance: The closest thing I can find to this is Dust Corona, and that indicates that you've gone a little overboard. Having said that, I believe you have the correct rarity, considering complexity, just not the correct power level. 5/10
Flavor: Very good flavor. 10/10
Polish: Good man. 5/5

Atmospheric Ignition 3RRR
Rise from the Ashes B
Fury of Malignus R
Sorcery (U)
Target creature gets +3/+0 until end of turn. Damage that would be dealt by that creature can't be prevented this turn.
Wherever the great storm went, its rage and anger lingered. The elements continued to batter the land for days and weeks so that all would know its wrath.
He used his skill with lightning to draw the magma from the ocean beneath him. The amount of strength he had was enormous but couldn't be held for long. Instead of using it for attack however he would use the magma for defense.
Mannichi's Manuever R
Instant (U)
Switch target creature's power and toughness.
Overload 2R
Might from mischief.
Xenaris channeled a great gout of magma at the oncoming fist intending to overwhelm it and push it back if he could.
Creature - Elf Wizard Archer
:symu:, : Target creature gains flying until end of turn.
:symg:, : Xenaris Stormwind deals 1 damage to target creature with flying.

OOC: You still have GG, so you know, but whatever.
You hunker down against the marble of the fortified building, some distance away from the hot, metal door, and see about getting some more rest.
However, when you wake, a few hours later, you're starving and barely rested at all. The small amount of sustenance the bird blood had given you has worn off, and now you need to feed, or you will begin weakening, until you die.
The rest has granted you G, however.
OOC: Your take -1 to all card critiques until you feed.

Gain Sustenance
Balance: So, the life gain seems a little tacked on, and with this being a sorcery and costing 2, it's almost strictly worse than Hunger of the Howlpack, yet is an uncommon. Having more than five lands is about on-par with having a creature die as far as difficulty goes. 5/10
Flavor: I can see the no flavor text, here, as it's got a lot of rules text and is an uncommon. Based on the name, however, I'd have guessed it would have interacted with lands, not creatures and +1/+1 counters. Also, which part is the "food", in-game? The counter or the life gain? Not really vital, just curious. 5/10
Polish: Good man. 5/5

Allisandae
The adrenaline of the situation grants you 1R. (Use it wisely, as I'm not going to hand out any more this night)

Levitate the Minecart
Balance: Convoluted, and considering Shimmering Wings, underpowered. Not only does it only work on creatures with power three or less, but it costs 1 extra and requires a non-Equipment, noncreature artifact in order to affect nonartifact creatures. I suppose it might be feasible as an uncommon, considering how complex it is. Also, microtext. 2/10
Flavor: Nothing too spectacular, but nothing too dismal either. 9/10
Polish: Good man 5/5
Overall Score: 16 (Success, Mana Spent, 1 exp gained)

Follow Stealthily
Balance: This is a very strange card. 1/10
Flavor: I'm not sure I get your flavor, but you do relate to the effects nicely enough in the flavor text. Also, in-story, are you equating being underground to being in the graveyard? If so, then what is being dead equated to? 4/10
Polish: "in" and "all" (you only sacrificed a single creature) 3/5
Overall Score: 8 (Failure, Mana Spent)
You attempt to cast a spell, but it seems to not be working the way it does back home, and all that happens is a fairly noisy shifting of the ground, at which the fire-eyed man stops, and slowly begins turning around…
OOC: You are now in a conflict, as your stealth has a time limit on it. Use this website for your rolls.

Destroy the Cat
Balance: LoyalSEntRy v2. Nice. I believe this is well balanced. Good job. 10/10
Flavor: "Absolver Priest" is a little generic, and you could have had some more depth in the flavor text, which you omitted, so, not impressed. 5/10
Polish: Good man. 5/5
Overall Score: 20 (Success, Mana Spent, 2 exp gained)
OOC: Not big on roleplaying, are you? I thought my silly clothe salesman would at least inspire a comment. For example, you might have convinced him to allow you to trap the cat so you could later train it as a mount. Though, before we progress here, I'll have to ask you how you proceed. You've summoned a temporary person, and I presume sent it in to attack? If so, the Cat blocks, and the ability triggers. Do you act on the trigger or not? The opponent has 3 cards in hand, and the permanents are, once more:
Nightflame Puma
Creature - Cat R
Haste
(B/R), Discard a card: Return Nightshade Puma from your graveyard to the battlefield.
1/1
Darklit Underground
Land R
Darklit Underground enters the battlefield tapped.
T: Add W to your mana pool.
T, Pay 1 life, discard a card, sacrifice a permanent: Add BR to your mana pool.
Khassia Rhal Vaceaau

Shane Dæmonsbrood, Kallum Yksin, & Sutilith
Retroactive Challenge Rating - 18
Weaken Sutilith
Balance: Stabbing Pain is worse than this, but most cards in core sets tend to be worse than the average card. I think this is actually on-par with Virulent Wound. So, balanced, but not exactly the most original design. 7/10
Flavor: A few grammar mistakes, but a good message and good flavor. 9/10
Polish: an -> and 4/5
Overall Score: 20 (Success, Mana Spent, 2 exp gained)
OOC: Yeah, you can do that, Keltainen, so long as the other player doesn't mind, historians are capable of knowing information only detailed in other player's backstory. Also, this is a bit more detailed, fun.
As the two figures come out of the shadows, some words are brandied as way of greeting, and then the demon is revealed to actually be one of the two newcomers to the cavern. He appears to be a very hot headed demon as well, and immediately fires off a spell at the monstrosity.

Deathflare B

The soldier fell to the ground, throwing up everywhere. Then the spell began to take effect.
Joran Harclay
Some considerable amount of time must have passed, as you've gained 1WU, and you feel as though you're just waking up.
Miswik Bagump
As you try to start slinking away, the girl speaks up, "Whoa whoa whoa," as she hops from her seat to head you off, continuing once she's back in your eyesight, "You haven't even given me your name. I'm Keyloo," she said, extending a delicate hand to shake yours. Getting a better look at her, you see that her hair is short and curly, while her eyes are a particularly deep shade of blue. She has a wide, brilliant smile, high, narrow cheekbones, a button nose, and a very long neck sprouting out of her green outfit.
"Come and sit down a bit. Are you looking for work?"

Balance: This is definitely green, and not black, considering that black only really regenerates itself. Having said that, I think this is fairly balanced. Mending Hands with a restriction (red/black), and a boost (Battlegrowth). Should be uncommon for complexity, however. 4/10

Balance: Should be fine. Not too many cards like this exist, but, considering Inside Out and Twisted Image, you might actually be underpowered. However, I quite dislike how this does not end at end of turn. 5/10
Flavor: I'm not sure I like the mixing of a Kamigawa character and a Ravinca mechanic. Beyond that, nice, simple flavor. 8/10
Polish: Good man. 5/5

OOC: Stop making so many cards that I like.
With some rapid-fire spells, you shield the storm elemental, intensify your own flames, and then meet the conflagration heading for your face with your own flame.
It seems like forever until the onslaught of heat passes, but when it finally does, the deafening rush of magma is replaced by the tumultuous, roaring laughter of the colossus. You and your mount are both a little worse for wear, and you feel you're going to pass out if you take in too much more mana too soon. Your transformation will not last too much longer anyways (1 more update). You need to acquire rest.
However, the colossus seems to be having a wonderful time, "???! Absolutely ???! You're fun, for a ???! Okay, I'll see if I can make a ??? learn! Oh wait, are you tired?!" and he begins laughing even louder. It's starting to seriously hurt your ears, "Tell you what, ???," he struggled through the stitch in his side, "you come back here soon. ??? this rune on the lava," he flashes a rune in the air which hurts your eyes, "I'll come up, and we'll start learning. Be prepared to go swimming!"

Allisandae shouted and increased his elevation more, heading straight for the bridge. He didn't worry about traps in the alleys, and instead flew over roofs whenever he could. He occasionally did barrel rolls and flips in the air, enjoying the tense anticipation in the air as he sped towards the bridge.
