Well, Dream Thrush, Reef Shaman, Sea Snidd, Tideshaper Mystic, and Grixis Illusionist all lead me to believe that the card would be more blue than red, if anything. Red would rather blow the land up, actually. In fact, it needs to hit nonbasics and turn them into mountains specifically to feel red at all. As for the counter part, I thought about it, but it would have messed with the elegance of the card. In all honesty, I think it's easy enough to keep track of that kind of information, and the lack of elegance on one side would have hurt more than the potential memory issue on the other.
But see how all the cards you mention transform the land into any land. Red is the only colour that transforms specifically into mountains. Also, I believe that memory issues should be addressed over elegance. Maybe you think you would have no trouble, but imagine two young players trying to remember the stuff, especially if the game goes long. Imagine a commander game, in which there are dozens of lands in the field at a time. It's just begging for trouble and making easier for bad players to cheat on the less experienced.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
My wording of "Whenever a player who has already drawn a card this turn would draw a card, instead that player doesn't" is based of the wording on Ethersworn Canonist for example. The wording is weird but still means this applies to each turn...meaning players essentially can draw one card a turn.
Mass Sinkhole :6mana::symb::symb:
Sorcery (M)
Utilize (You may discard any number of cards with total mana cost equal to this spell's mana cost rather than pay its mana cost.)
Destroy up to four target lands.
interesting mechanic, but i'm a but worried about it.
possible to discard one mass sinkhole to cast another, results in pretty strong card advantage for zero mana.

I thought it was pretty broken for the same reason. Mana costs are supposed to limit when the card is played. So if I get stuck with a hand of high CC I should mulligan. With this card, suddenly mulligan isn't the right choice, since I can turn one card into the mana for the other early in the game. Not saying changing when to mulligan is bad necessarily, but again... just a little too powerful.
RE Venser's card: People are pretty fickle in their votes. Sometimes they like crazy stuff that will never see print, sometimes they like elegant design. I'm trying to imagine the deck that this would go into. Obviously it would be a battle of wits deck, since in most normal decks, you'd lose when you cast it. But even then... you'd probably need a 420 card deck to make it even plausible. And even if he was thinking of comboing with obstinate familiar.. I'm always a little down on cards created for a specific combo.
Nothing against Foo_intherain, but I'm very confused by the popularity of his card today. I like the flavor, but the effect is kind of flat IMO. To those that voted for it, I'm curious as to why.
I can see the value of the card in edh... It is a pretty hefty drag the game out card. 4 of in a deck could make decking without any mill cards a possibility. I almost voted for it but I couldn't get behind the W/U cc.

I liked and voted for Rithaniel's land but I seriously believe it needs to either be Legendary or enter the battlefield tapped. I'm trying to decide whether landing a signet turn 1 is worse than landing a Solemn Simulacrum (or any 4CMC artifact) in turn two with two of these lands.

With respect to my latest card (Exert Imagination), may it be that people underestimate the power of filtering the top card of one's library at instant speed and for little mana? Yes, it's card disadvantage but potentially may generate better card quality (i.e. chances of getting the card that you need) than any other 1 mana spell.
I guess that a version without the card disadvantage would have been better received? (Something along the lines of "Look top card, then put it in your hand unless you pay :sympb:. If you do, put it on bottom instead and repeat",) but I have the nagging feeling that version would be too powerful. Maybe as sorcery? Or is the whole idea unsalvageable in your opinion? Let me know!

I actually really liked your card Maokun. Seemed to me a weaker Ad Nauseam or Demonic Consultation and one of the very few uses of phyrexian mana that I've actually liked.
Yeah, it looks like you posted it while I was in the process of putting the thread together (your post is ~8:28pm vs. the thread going up at 8:30pm). In the future, PM me if you notice I'm in the thread while you're posting your card - since I have email notifications on and that email's tab is always open, I should see it in time to catch last-minute entries.

I really liked the card too, the card would be definitely reasonable as a sorcery. The only part I didn't like was how blue gets to search and entire library by just paying life (which technically belongs to black). Maybe you could have had the mana cost as B and the phyrexian part as U?

Doesn't it make more sense, though, that blue gets a single "painless" fix of the top of the library, but going beyond that (you'd may say "exerting") costs it black mana or pain? I mean, a single time is like a bad (but speedy) Sleight of Hand, but the more you invest on it, the more similar it is to, say, Ad Nauseum.

I think my enchant creature cycle might be broken. Thoughts?
I think they're both fine so far. Nice in Limited, though even there they are vulnerable to someone bouncing or killing the creature in response to casting the aura.
For what it's worth, I would probably only post one card from any cycle in the DCC. I would be reluctant to vote for both cards just because the second one doesn't seem as innovative. But maybe others don't vote the same way that I do

Not like it means anything in the grand scheme of things scoring-wise (since it's like Mathmatically impossible I win this month)...but it is what it is. I got 3 votes yesterday (August 28th poll) so I should be up to 54, instead of 53.

Yeah it's pretty simple each evening a new thread is made for the day.
You look at the previous day's entries (which are listed in the current day's thread) and vote on two of them (No less, no more, and not yourself) in the poll.
Then you post a new card in the same thread (any card you want) which will be voted on the next day. Each vote get's 1 point towards the month's total count.

mythic rarity ruins magic lalala etc. etc.
very cool concept, but probably not ok when we've got stuff like Obstinate Familiar

do you mean timely rebirth?
effect doesn't seem flat, seems awesome to me, i love stuff like lich's mirror and eternity vessel
however, five mana is definitely too cheap for this effect, i love me some u/w control but this is just plain mean to aggro.
