Thanks Rudyard! Wow, I actually won! The victory feels a little tainted since there were so few people actually posting on regular basis, but I'll take it. When I first started posting competitively back in June, I was just hoping to not make fool of myself. But, after I was actually in the running in both the July and Aug. DCCs, I was determined to actually win one. Next goal....get past the 3rd round in a MCC. Anyway, thanks to all who voted for me and let's have an awesome November! (hopefully with more competitors)
Edit: Also...I was sure either Rudyard or Indighost was going to catch me at the last minute. Thanks for not posting a card on the 31st Rudyard!

Rudyard.....What happened to Hot Potato? I was eagerly anticipating the card, but I see nothing from you yesterday. Here's what popped into my mind when I read the name....
Hot Potato
Artifact
At the beginning of your end step you may pay or sacrifice another permanent, if you do target player gains control of Hot Potato, if you don't you lose the game.
Edit: I reworded this so that it wasn't completely broken. It may still be.

yeah, i mean it's all there in the name, i wasn't sure which way to turn the dials.
since it's a hot potato maybe the penalty would be some large amount of damage like 10 (what Booby Trap deals).
the main trouble was i wanted it to have a cost that was increasingly difficult to pay, but more variable than a straight cumulative upkeep type deal. it had to encourage you to keep passing it but slightly unpredictable as to when exactly it would go off.
My intention for Bless Thy Blade is for it to give +1/+0 in addition to any other pumps the equipment already gives on its own. For instance, a Sword of Fire and Ice would now give +3/+2 (as well as first strike, lifelink, pro U and R and the combat damage triggers of SoF&I). Hopefully my wording makes this clear?

your wording does make it clear, but it might not need to be so clear. i think people will know that the abilities granted don't replace existing bonuses and the text "In addition to its other effects and abilities" isn't really necessary.

OK. Good to know. I'm a little disappointed that no one seems to like the card. I thought it was flavorful and original, even if its not the best card. I was picturing it in the White Commander deck.

Today's card came from the realization that, with the addition of the "base power/toughness" concept to the rules, referring to the "base full text" of a card makes sense.
That said... I'm not sure there's a lot of design space there beyond that little guy. Maybe half a dozen other cards, tops.
Votes:
Dimitriye98 (even though I don't like the name of the card, but I like the mechanics)
AliasBot (even though there are a couple mistakes in wording: it should be "If that spell is countered this way, put it into its owner's hand instead of into that player's graveyard", see Remand's Oracle text)
Whoops. I specifically opened Remand's Gatherer page to be sure I had the wording right - guess I ended up grabbing the wording for the final version from the actual card instead of the Oracle text.

Can't get to a non-phone Internet connection before work today, so if someone else will post today's thread I'd appreciate it.
I just did, I hope I did everything right. There was a tie, so I just gave 1 bonus point to each of the three people involved.
EDIT: I just realized that I inadvertently left "The DCC:" in the title of the thread in addition to the date. I hope that's not a problem. If it is, please could you or another mod modify it? Thanks in advance. I'm sorry, but it's the first time I post a DCC thread, I'm not practiced in it.
EDIT 2: I just discovered I could do it myself going to "edit thread" under "Tools". Sorry, but again I'm not yet fully practiced. I did it again today and this time I paid even more attention to all the details, so that everything's alright at the first try, as it should be.

(I have a very big one that I'm working on right now but that's private for now, and I don't know if I will ever actually publish it, and I also have ideas for multiple future ones, including one where I'm going to reprise Jeff.)
Okay, tomorrow should be back to something resembling the real schedule; today was just all kinds of fouled up.
@Indighost: I'm not sure that "R: Horseshoe Crab deals X damage to target creature or player, where X is 2 plus twice the number of Islands you control." belongs at common.

"The true measure of all heroes is not what they achieve, but who they inspire." —Triumph of Gerrard
My card today, Retake the Land, is from a block I’ve been thinking about lately that I'm tentatively calling Wastelands of Zanbae. Here's a bit about the block if anybody's interested. All things are subject to change, and most of it isn't really thought out entirely but.....
Hundreds of years ago the plane of Zanbae was vibrant and prosperous. Its citizens had developed some of the most technologically advanced devices in the history of the multiverse. It was this technology that ultimately led to the plane’s demise. After many years of plane-wide warfare, the scientists of Zanbae invented a device capable of wiping out all existence on the plane, and ultimately, they unleashed it.
Of course life has somehow found a way to survive on Zanbae. Since the end of the Great War, the citizens of Zanbae have united into one tribe that they call The Eyodwa, or “The One”. Merfolk, Goblins, Elves, Humans, etc., all working as one for the greater good. The Eyodwa have dedicated themselves to a life of simplicity and the preservation of nature. They shun all but the most basic forms of technology and have sworn never to revisit the path of their ancestors.
Needless to say, life has not been easy for The Eyodwa. Although their shamans and witchdoctors have found ways to protect most of The Eyodwa people from the radiation left behind by the Great War, the lands and animals of Zanbae have been greatly altered by it. Giant mutated beasts roam the land and have grown even more aggressive and dangerous from their mutations. In some places, even the land itself has mutated into a living threat. The humanoid races of Zanbae that succumb to the radiation turn into mindless, ferocious zombies that The Eyodwa call Nkisi.
Unfortunately, the harsh environment, mutated wildlife and the Nkisi are not the only problems The Eyodwa face. A mysterious mind mage named Unewah has recently appeared. The Eyodwa tried to be hospitable toward Unewah at first, but they soon learned that he did not have good intentions. The mind mage quickly learned to control the Nkisi and then set about trying to learn about and rebuild the ancient Zanbaean technology. Now the Eyodwa have sworn to do everything in their power to rid themselves of this new dark threat.
Some themes:
The main theme of the block is lands, particularly basic vs nonbasic lands. The block contains many cards that manipulate/destroy/protect lands. It also has a lot of cards that care about basic/nonbasic lands, including the ability natural, which is seen on today’s card.
I intend to develop a cycle of enemy manlands as well as a cycle of friendly duals that count as basic lands (although I'm still not sure how to handle this.)
There is a minor tribal theme that focuses on class instead of race to reinforce the idea that the various races Zanbae have set aside their differences to join together.
While the block isn't exactly multi-color focused, many of the the mutated creatures of Zanbae will be represented by enemy dual colors, while many of the Eyodwa will be represented by friendly dual colors.
I’m still working on an ability for the mutants of Zanbae, I’m trying to do something like this: Sickness (Whenever a source with sickness deals damage to a creature, put a sickness counter on it. Creatures with three or more sickness counters on them are 1/1 black Nkisi creatures with no abilities). There would then be effects dealing with the Nkisi, particularly effects that take control of them. I’m still working out the bugs on this one though.
Edit: I intend to post more cards from this block throughout the month, which is one reason I figured I'd share my thoughts even though the idea is still evolving.

Haven't done one of these in a while, so here's a review of all the submissions being voted on for Dec. 9th:
bravelion83 - Bird of Brain - Fairly simple, clean ideas. Recycle has a high capacity to be strict card-advantage, but not more-so than flashback. You'd want to keep an eye on putting it anywhere that enables combo, but that's true for most natural card-advantage mechanics. The flavor text is a real groaner; what you were going for I feel is a good goal, but the joke falls flat with this presentation, almost as though you don't trust the audience to get it.
AliasBot - Cogwork Emissary - This isn't the sort of decision that's interesting to make during the draft. I get your goal, especially in relation to drafting signals, but there's a great chance you won't play either of those players to begin with. Also, you've created a really bad memory issue. First, you have to remember which colors were chosen. Then, if you have multiples, you have to develop a system for tracking which one has colors. And while these things may be solvable, they're ultimately unsightly.
GG_Chrono - Coalskin Creeper - This is a really good card in limited, very first-piackable depending on the environment. It might be a bit too oppressive; compare it to Prodigal Pyromancer which doesn't get to build a bunch of counters on one creature and doesn't get to hurt players and creatures at the same time. Still, I like it, especially the overall flavor. (One could argue that the flavor points toward intimidate not being the right mechanic, since it seems that black creatures detest it as well, but I think that's up for interpretation.)
CryoZenith - Ending Ambush - Awkward wording. It's a simple idea, so that's unfortunate. I know Hero's Downfall points to WOTC already allowing better-than-Murder at higher rarities, but I don't think this is the way to go about it. Overall, though, it's not such a bad idea.
Rudyard - Summoning Interception - I wish "permanent spell" wasn't so awkward. Or rather, that there were a better word in Magic than permanent. It's a nice card, reworking Desertion into a kicker spell is quite a pleasant and versatile approach. Maybe too versatile, but that's kicker for ya.
Flatline - Infuriated Youth - Given how this works, it's probably better to just change the ability to a trigger: "When ~ enters the battlefield, if only mana produced by basic lands to spend to cast it, it gains haste until end of turn." Otherwise, I like the idea of rewarding basics, though that sort of mechanic will basically always on in limited.
Indighost - The flavor really sold me on this card. Really packs a story in a small amount of words. The mechanic is also quite powerful. Chroma spells have been in vogue for over a year now (or devotion if you will), but I still enjoy the extras on this card.
Koopa - Small wording snafu using "it" to start the last sentence, but that didn't really effect my judgment. The flavor is REALLY good; it seems odd at first, them getting the gold that you mined. But they do own the mine, after all, so why shouldn't they? It is somewhat odd in that regard, though.
Wearth - The island ability makes no sense other than this might be an octopus. And although I like flavor, it's not much of an ability overall, even less so given what else the card is doing. This is the type of planeswalker that wants all its abilities working together; that one just confuses the whole thing. Otherwise, I think the card is rather fun and has a unique strategy to it.
MDenham - I don't know why this card is doing what it is doing. It seems to be odd for the sake of being odd. It has blink applications and artifact removal applications, sure, but the whole doesn't seem worth the way those parts come together.
Groovelord - This is a fine card capable of quite the large army. It likely won't get cast in constructed with a Plains ever in sight, but that's ultimately acceptable. Not much else to say except that the card is rather well named.
Eh, I'm not surprised. I don't actually draft much, if ever, so I don't really have a good idea of what would work in those situations...but the concept of the Conspiracy cards intrigued the hell out of me, so I wanted to take a shot at doing a few of them. (As far as memory issues, it doesn't do much that Paliano, the High City doesn't do, but eh.)

Thanks for the assessment Rush_Clasic. I knew something seemed off in my wording. I agree, I should have worded it your way. To be honest, I spent the majority of my time on this card trying get the balance/flavor right. I'm having a bit of a hard time assessing how much of a drawback the Natural ability is.

EDIT: It's going to be a couple of days until I can get the laptop fixed, so I'll need the thread posted tomorrow and possibly Wednesday as well.
(Probably NSFW) So you may have heard I'm trying to write a TV series...
Most Nominated for Random Categories, 2013
bravelion83 - Bird of Brain - Fairly simple, clean ideas.
