Probation will change from "until the end of the month" to a flat 21-day period. (Apologies to Maraga, who I just PMed mentioning that it would be 30 days. After some number crunching, it turns out that 30 days every time is nearly twice the current average probation - which is about 16.7 days.) The asterisks for probation will remain in the daily thread, but will clear off at times other than scoreboard resets; a list of current terms of probation will be added to the first post of this thread and updated as necessary.
Man, F this game uck. I can't stand the metagame voting and worship voting and random voting that goes on. It drives me crazy. Especially the worship voting. There's no other explanation for some of the crap that gets votes in this game. I don't know how yall can stand it. Oh wait... it's because your metagame voting, worship voting, and random voting. And, no, this isn't a "my cards are the best so you should be voting for them" rant.
Please don't evade the censor. PM me and/or MDenham if you have any issues with the contest that you think we can resolve. -GM
Everyone has their own criteria for voting, as rational or irrational as it may be. It's all subjective.
Personally, I don't worry too much about the voting aspect. Just the exercise of making a new card each day and seeing what other people come up keeps it interesting for me.

Whenever you post a card, fifteen or so other human beings review your card and fourteen others, then use their incredibly subjective intuition to decide which two they like 'best'. Because it's almost impossible to quantify what's the best design and because each individual person looks for very different themes, there's no one way to get votes. Your best bet is to strive to create simple designs that resonate with the most people and that really grab their attention. Sometimes, it's not that your card's necessarily bad — I get that all the time. It's entirely possible that what some people look for in cards just isn't showing up in yours. My advice to you is to look at the designs that get the most votes each day and look for some common themes amongst them.
Also, if by "metagame voting" you mean "people voting in their own self-interest rather than for the best two cards": I would love to see a game started that works as a cross between the MCC and the DCC, using a monthly panel of judges but keeping to the same "everyone posts a card every day" principle we use.
The reason I don't start that game myself is because I'd be more than doubling my workload if I did. And that means I lose an extra hour of sleep each day (well, at least half an hour), or have to take it out of something else that I'd rather be doing, like writing. If it's popular enough to keep going for six months with 10+ people per day (and, more importantly to me at least, doesn't tank interest in the DCC at the same time), I'd be more than happy to recommend giving it MQ status toward the Pro Tour as well.

What are the kinds of voting you are referring to and who is doing it where?
If you don't like us or the way we supposedly behave, then why do you spend time with us?
I really don't care what kind of rant you make this time to talk down on the community, but it's a rant that clearly stems from your own feelings of superiority.
You want to make yourself feel good by telling other people how terrible they are and don't even have the sense to call out individuals rather than making a blanket statement including everyone using deliberately loaded language.
You are insulting people.

Winner is a Judge game except there is a team of judges and they remain for a month sounds intresting. One big disadvantage is that they need to, well, judge every single day and that is almost impossible.
:re rant: What? Look at the most voted card of each day. They are always at least okay.

Wizards can start putting booster packs inside dog poo and dog owners will still complain.
I apologize, especially to Mdenham, for being a Debbie Downer. The current voting system is the best logistically feasible method.
My comment isn't about those voting their consciences, so they shouldn't be insulted. It's about those voting strategically, randomly, and/or nominally.
I'm just gonna take a break from designing DCC and just vote.
I was actually serious about wanting to see a game started where each month, 5-7 judges (who don't get to post cards for that month) do all of the voting.
The beta site will support the mechanics of this better (it allows for a "rating-style" poll with options of 1-5 for each entry, so the system would be "Rank the top four cards and give them 5, 4, 3, and 2; then give a 1 to all other cards") but I'd have to check a couple of other things about that first.
On an unrelated note, I'm going back through the cycle I posted the last five days and posting the three planeswalkers I'd come up with.
Tchin Almazi was a priestess of one of the tribes of the Caprive - a race of bipedal caprids whose horn structure is a cross between mountain goats and bighorn sheep in shape, but with the appearance of multiple sets of horns as with Jacob sheep. Disgruntled with the leadership of the combined tribes' religion (dominated by six- and the occasional eight-horned males; Tchin herself is an outlier as a four-horned female, as the vast majority of females [and nearly 40% of males] only have two horns) she made her way to the Fountain of k'Tagi, the supposed source of all prophecy to the religion.
The spirits within the Fountain made two things clear: first, they had not spoken to the priesthood in centuries, proving her disillusionment with the direction of the religion was well-founded; and second, they wished for her to usher in a new age. In the process of granting her powers that would force the priesthood to listen to her, however, they inadvertently awoke her spark as well - a fortunate accident, as the first attempt to make the priesthood listen resulted in her being declared a witch...

If anything, it'd be mono-white. Not sure where you're seeing blue or red.
The black seems to be there for flavor (Orzhov). That said, it's at odds with both current Orzhov mechanics (haunt and extort), since they're both triggered abilities.

I'm not sure where you're seeing mono-white. Surely you must see where I'm seeing blue.
Spoiler added to save you some scrolling.
The main difference between white and blue is that blue gets reactionary counterspells and abilities and white gets preemptive rule setting in the form of mostly static abilities.
Blue: "Counter target noncreature spell unless its controller pays :3mana:."
White: "Noncreature spells cost more to cast."
Blue: "Counter target spell that has the same name as a card in a graveyard."
White: "Players can't cast spells that share a name with a card in a graveyard."
The abilities are close enough that in special circumstances they are switched over Planar Chaos style.
So remove every instance of of a spell or ability that counters the triggered ability after it has been cast and check how good your case is now. Then put all the cards up there that prevent abilities or spells from even entering the stack like Meddling Mage and you'll see where they meet.
As for black: It's not necessary due to the mechanics, but it is justified by other aspects of the card. The faction of Orzhov deserves to represent some part of the setting of rules due to its flavor. And this ability is not claimed by colors definitely.
So as long as you don't put it in monocolored black the ability is okay in Orzhov.

In a vacuum, I'd agree the card should be :symwu:. However, the cards I've been posting this month are all from my custom cube as I printed them, so I left it :symwb:. In the cube I have fielding more of an Aven flavor, while hosts the rules-making that normally goes along with Azorius. Aven fliers seem like they'd want freedom more than rules... weird that the game allows for that in the same color pairs!
@MDenham: Since tracking the actual votes per submission means that data is tracked more thoroughly, any chance that we will get separate statistics for votes received and (shared) day's won as well?

Ahh, my bad. I've been so Rav minded lately that I seemed to have forgotten that that's not all there is.

It should be noted that it also is fine in white-black with its Ravnica flavor. Just because the card could be white-blue and probably would be in a vacuum doesn't mean it has to be.
Orzhov after all is the second most bureaucratic guild on the plane that is big on imposing rules.

That's true too Secret, though of course we know nearly anything can be justified with context and flavor. Piar says its for a custom cube, so it's probably the perfect color pair for that environment. But in the context of Ravnica - which is more often than not often the reference point for multicolored cards - it should indeed be monowhite for the very reason Yeef gives and because it gives the other WC guilds a weapon against Azorius and Orzhov. And I imagine it would be an enchantment.
