I won't lie, I'm a little disappointed that my card for yesterday only got two votes, I was kind of in love with it
Paranoid DreadBB
Sorcery (U)
Target opponent loses 2 life. Draw a card. Shuffle Paranoid Dread into its owner's library.
Miracle 0 Sometimes, paranoia is justified.
I liked the overall effect, enough that I voted for it, but it is kind of a four-of in every base Black deck. The problem is that unlike other "Awesome in your deck, but you don't want to open with them so don't play too many" cards, it's not that bad in your opening hand; it cantrips, dinks your opponent and goes back into your library as if you didn't open with it. And if you don't open with it, it's literally free value. Unless a two mana cantrip is sufficiently disruptive to your gameplan, there's basically no reason not to play four and dink your opponent for free every other game.
It says something about the original Norn that my submission is a thousand times more beatable than she is.
Eldrazi Influence6
Tribal Sorcery — Eldrazi (R)
Creatures you control get +1/+1 and gain Annihilator 1 until end of turn. Leaks sprung in the Blind Eternities cause ruptures and malformations in every aspect of a plane's existence.
(MDenham, man, you gotta hit that enter key just one more time. The title image and the date title thing are sharing line space and it's been irking my OCD.)
Every card with the subtype Eldrazi ever printed has a converted mana cost of 7 or greater.
One thing that I believe makes designing fair custom cards tedious is the existing card pool of the actual game. What I mean is that, for example, this card is very fairly costed and reasonable... but still painfully worse than Sword of Fire and Ice.
I tend to ignore Mirrodin's Equipment for most balance purposes; they hadn't figured it out at the time and undercosted and/or under-raritied a lot of cards like Bonesplitter, Empyrial Armor, Loxodon Warhammer, and that's before you even get to the Swords and Skullclamp. It didn't help that they decided to have the Scars Swords synch up with the undercosted originals...

Golden Gate (Rare)
Land - Gate
Golden Gate enters the battlefield tapped. T: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool. Spend this mana only to pay for casting costs and ability costs of cards with a watermark.
Eh? Watermarks? As in the faded symbol of a guild or the Scars factions? That sounds cute, but it seems a bit murked up considering there are cards, such as Ratchet Bomb, that have been printed with and without watermarks.
Incubation Chamber :symg::symg:
Enchantment (U)
Graft 1 (This permanent enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it. Whenever a creature enters the battlefield, you may move a +1/+1 counter from this permanent onto it.)
Other noncreature permanents you control have Graft 1.
The people voting for this card have clearly never played with Graft on Magic Online
(I do like the design, but the thought of having all those Yes/No triggers every time either player makes a creature...)

Imagine drawing multiples (which are not redundant):
"DO YOU WANT TO MOVE THIS +1/+1 COUNTER TO THIS CREATURE? OK. HOW ABOUT THIS OTHER +1/+1 COUNTER? AND ARE YOU REALLY, REALLY SURE YOU DIDNT WANT TO MOVE THAT +1/+1 COUNTER TO THIS CREATURE!?".
Eh? Watermarks? As in the faded symbol of a guild or the Scars factions? That sounds cute, but it seems a bit murked up considering there are cards, such as Ratchet Bomb, that have been printed with and without watermarks.
And there are Modern legal cards that have been printed with and without Modern borders. And there are Pauper legal cards that have been printed as Uncommons and Commons. And players know them all. It's really not that confusing.
And I didn't realize it was permitted to criticize cards before voting befor the day was over. Apparently, it's merely bad forum.

My... apologies? If you consider it bad form, I truly am sorry, but I've always thought of that as the more appropriate thing to do when it came to a concern of function. I'd certainly rather not waste a day because something got muddled.
The reason why it seemed a tad off to me is because, as you've stated, those cards are legal in that they've been reprinted and thus have that sole reason to be usable. Something like a watermark, which would not limit or deny its place in a deck, on the other hand is a tad different.
No drama intended. While I appreciated the assessment, I didn't appreciate the timing of it. But on the bright side, I can blame you for my lack of votes today rather than my lack of design skills.
Gelatinous SabotaugeUG
Instant [R]
Split second
Replace target instant or sorcery spell's text with "Put a 2/2 blue and green Ooze creature token onto the battlefield."
Stolen for Simic RVC. Except Split Second will be dropped. What's with that anyways? Is it necessary?
Second ruling for Meddling Mage would probably be the pertinent one - basically, changing what it's naming won't counter things that are already on the stack.
In keeping with how I'm going to be updating the cumulative-points system to include an "average votes per submission" stat next year, there will be one other slightly more important change in 2014.
Probation will change from "until the end of the month" to a flat 21-day period. (Apologies to Maraga, who I just PMed mentioning that it would be 30 days. After some number crunching, it turns out that 30 days every time is nearly twice the current average probation - which is about 16.7 days.) The asterisks for probation will remain in the daily thread, but will clear off at times other than scoreboard resets; a list of current terms of probation will be added to the first post of this thread and updated as necessary.
One side effect of this is it means that the first scoreboard of a month may be slightly busier than before.
This rules change does not affect any currently existing probations; only probation imposed in 1/1/2014's thread or later will be affected.
Valid rules term

I actually checked and didn't see the second definition since they put all definitions on the same line. Ugh.
EDIT: Found it!
But isn't that incorrect?
Your suggested wording implies you can't spend colorless and red mana on it.
Finally a good white villain quote: "So, do I ever re-evaluate my life choices? Never, because I know what I'm doing is a righteous cause."
Factions: Sleeping
Remnants: Valheim
Legendary Journey: Heroes & Planeswalkers
Saga: Shards of Rabiah
Legends: The Elder Dragons

The flavor of the wording I suggested wording is a bit looser I suppose and not exactly the same now that you mention it. It still needs errata.
"Spend only one color of mana to cast Monochrome Golem."
BTW, I totally riffed this for [RVC].
Guildless Golem (Rare)
4
Artifact Golem - Golem
6/6
Spend only colorless mana to cast Guildless Golem.

love this, however wouldn't play it any time before i'm bout to win

Either way, I suppose it was a mistake considering that one land thing would make my card cost 4. :I
Also, I think he might've meant straight-up Eldrazi spells. The Drones are all colored cards.
Your entry just seemed... a little too goofy to me, I guess.
I'm not sure what this means, but I voted for it.
C'mon v_n, "Snow Globe" man "Snow Globe"! How could you miss that!?

On with life!
I agree with Rudyard, some good cards today.
For that matter, I'll criticize them before voting starts if it's something that bothers me enough.

Heh. Not a problem though. I could've sworn I'd voted, but it must have been lost in the holiday commotion.
Anywho, sounds like a nice update!
