This month would be more of a test in my eyes. Why not let it go for one month, and if its a huge hit, we can make a separate game with an already established group of players.
ANother suggestion: Why not just making this August's featured game and leave the DCC as the classic it is? In case it works in the featured game, we could think about improving it at the DCC from time to time. Just a thought.

I was under the impression the daily challenge would be voluntary in the DCC, and someone might want to spin it off into its own game, whether that be a CFG or not.
Actually I like the idea of an optional challenge, like a "design suggestion" every now and then to give people a direction without forcing them, there could even be suggestions in here or in the thread after you post your entry. The only issue with that is it might "taint" the judging, some might judge things that followed the suggestion higher than ones that didn't.
@Mdenham: Your design for today was just brilliant, buddy. That's the kind of non-spike card that could easily conquer my pretty tinny non-spike side and make me fall in love regardless of any other good constructed design at the poll.
Yeah, I'm pretty happy with it too. I think it's the kind of card that mostly transcends psychographics. (Mostly. If it were a four-drop, it definitely would, but then it wouldn't be printable due to being broken. :D)
Is there any particular reason Shadow Totem didn't go over as well as Light Totem or Wind Totem? I can't easily do links right now or I would.
Without even looking at your cards I can tell you that cycles tend to do worse in the DCC as each of them get shown. The first one is normally the strongest and the second one will get some votes but then people get bored of it, even if it is good design.
So, getting a vote for a card in a cycle is more like having the person say, "I like this concept," as opposed to, "I like this specific card." As a designer, it's still cool to have so many people like the concept initially, even if it doesn't translate into a continued accrual of points.
Agreed with Koopa. In my experience, cycles does pretty awful at the DCC. They didn't make it years ago and they will not do well in the future either. Even so, if the pool of cards in a determined poll is poor and you cycle keeps solid and printable, it could turn into the default option for those who don't want to vote for broken/unexciting/unoriginal designs (years back the polls were decreasing in attention as the month advanced more than what it does nowadays.)
I was quite pleased with my design from today but it hasn't proved too popular, I think probably it has too much going on, or maybe it's just been good but not quite good enough for top 2s? I was going for a top-down design of an elemental overloading, it's power increasing constantly until it finally explodes
Don't get me wrong - I'm not actually complaining about people not liking it. I just want to know why. ("Too many good choices", meanwhile... Okay, that works too.)
Well, actually yesterday I felt in the moral obligation of crediting your fabulantastic stealing spell, but now (and because you're expecting honest feedback) I feel that the hyena does everything that a fog/lifeburst deck would like and more (since it adds a tinny but potential clock too, let's say by adding Rogue's Passage to the formula or something in the line.) In resume, I feel it does too well what it was intended to do. Still, the concept behind the design feels neat enough to make oneself to get stucked looking at it and make a deeper evaluation.
Regarding todays Multani's Favor, I intended to create a common card that could do two of the mos favourite things of green at a speed that wouldn't be the usual. Harrow and a full article of Maro that I can't recall right now (nor even post the link to) inspired me to make use of that "exception" internal rule at R&D regarding spell's speeds. Thoughts?

Bone Saw and Llanowar Reborn neglecting you one mana for a single +1/+1 counter probes this was a tricky one, but should cost you something before getting attached to a critter, IMO. What about giving just +1/+0 and getting destroyed if the creature it's attached to dies? That would be a nice tweak on the saw.
