I like your cycles (and cycles in general, i'm also doing that with incarnations now :D)
I think they're all balanced for what they do, cost and rarity: though, Reverent Simulacrum maybe it's too strong, losing 5 life is very much (think it in current standard in aristocrats for example, or with shrapnel blast: 10 damage at 1R instant damage)
Well, it does cost 4, for a 2/2. However, you do have a point, and I was intentionally pushing it.
@ Koopa: I really wanted to vote for your card, but I felt it was missing a key piece of rules text to remain balanced.
Search your library for up to three red and/or white creature cards with total converted mana cost 6 or less and put them onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library. Those creatures have haste. At the beginning of the next end step, sacrifice those creatures.

Cool concept though!
Yea I didn't want to make it wordy so I just pushed it. I think total CMC 6 is a bit low. Perhaps 8? That way you can get the Legend and 2 two drops? But then the card seems off I suppose.

Hmm, what if costed 2WR and got double the cmc (8)?
That might be fine, though 2WR for an indestructable 8/8, and two 3/1 flying Ball Lightnings might be too good.
I designed a White and Black "ling" a couple of months ago and got next to no votes too. I think it's because the design is just SO predictable.
Yeah, maybe more of a fun idea before there were a million of them running around. Now I think you need to think out of the box in terms of the cost or abilities to catch people's eye and make it cute again.
I liked the idea of the roach one because it was probably a jerk made of a million roaches.
Also not much love for my time soldiers and Realmwalk.
Are they too strong in your opinion? Should they cost more?
I made this card with my old love squadron hawk in mind, and i wanted
To use the RFG zone as an upside.
I didn't like the flavor of your guys at all. Are these time cops? I'm not a big guy for limiting yourself meticulously based on precedence when making cool cards but this one really didn't do it for me. I also sorta hate creatures that cost WW. I do like that you are trying to give white more depth though, and realmwalk isn't too bad.
From what I've seen of the DCC, if you're on the Top 8, then your votes tend to come much slower, regardless of how good your card is.
The vote system does a good job of propelling you to Top 8, but then it's harder to claw up to the top.
Interesting idea: would people be open to a month where all that's shown in the first post is the list of people on probation, and the final scores for the month are the only ones that are known?
Personally, I hope not - I mean, I'm honest, but there's no guarantee that the next person to run the DCC, whoever it is [and however long down the road that may be], will be. But... it's the only solution I can come up with for "selectively voting for people not in the Top 8".
Is there a way to not see how many points each person got in the polls everyday?
Nope. The closest I could come is anonymizing who the cards are from in the poll, but at that point we're talking "the DCC takes almost twice as long to put together each day" territory.
I might as well be put out to pasture competitively these days, though I do enjoy the way the competition acts as a nice prompt to keep the ideas rolling out. I wouldnt say I design clunky or wrote or damningly overpowered cards either.
To me, the cards that stand out the most and the ones that are most successful for me are the ones that scream flavor and are easily grokkable. Sometimes when there is so much text, i find myself skipping cards because they just have too much going on. Is that fair of me? Nah, but its human nature to lean towards the more evocative designs and simpler cards that might do cute things. None of this applies to anyones designs in general, just something I see every time I compete in these things.
Elusive Kelp Strand
Land R
Elusive Kelp Strand enters the battlefield tapped. T:AddG or U to your mana pool. GU: Until end of turn, Elusive Kelp Strand becomes a 2/2 green and blue Elemental creature with hexproof and is indestructible. It's still a land.
I'm having a really good time imagining the likely high frequency of tournaments being won by animate unstoppable sea weed.
I'm having a really good time imagining the likely high frequency of tournaments being won by animate unstoppable sea weed.
So, a 2/2 manland that can't be killed is dangerous to you? I'd be more apprehensive of Roaring Meadow or Cascading Mountainside. Roaring Meadow is a freaking 5/5 that you can still tap for mana, being the largest manland ever printed, and Cascading Mountainside has both evasion and double strike, likely becoming the most aggressive manland ever printed. Yet your apprehensive of Elusive Kelp Strand, which is not particularly aggressive, it's better as a blocker, but it's not a great blocker, either. It can bounce back one creature a turn, sure, but it's not likely to kill it, being only a 2/2
Though, apparently people don't like manlands. Or is it that these designs are predictable as well?
Yeah, that cycle is a bit too predictable and derivative. It's almost like submitting the two mana dorks to "complete" the cycle of Llanoawar Elves, Avacyn's Pylgrim and Elves of Deep Shadow. Sure, balanced and believable, but not exciting nor very creative.
Speaking of cycles, anyone liking my monocolour mix of two guild-keywords cards? The Detain+Battallion was kind of boring, but I quite like the Extort+Populate one and the one I'm submitting today. For some reason, I'm restricting myself to make each card in the cycle cost CC.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.

Is it because it enables a lot of tricks?

So, no love for Intent Simulacrum? It was essentially Meadowboon fused with Beetleback Chief.
Also, in case anyone didn't see it, the cycle was:
Reverent - WB
Ingenious - UR
Narcissistic - BG
Intent - RW
Solemn - GU
Today's was Ingenious, and very difficult to design.
Or does it want to be cheaper somehow?
