Hopeful, yes but you would really have to build your deck around it. In the same idea, a Rage Extractor can deal a ton of damage as well. Perhaps I should have made the card cost more (4 CMC) but I decided to make it more mana intensive instead. I think I'd rather up the cost on it then require TWO sorceries to make it useful.
Oh and that snake isn't that strong... Any 1/2 creature can trade with it. The only problematic part might be the hexproof... Should be flying instead
Apparently I'm on probation, and I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything wrong. Explain?
You didn't vote on the poll in the March 7th thread, but you posted a card.
This is a violation of standard voting procedure (if you post a card, you must vote twice), and therefore puts you on probation for the month. I did mention that this happened in the March 8th thread, as usual.
Lotus of Empty Thoughts has all sorts of inherent brokenness. By turn two this will be active in the decks that would use it.
Not broken for the following reasons:
1) Comes into play tapped.
2) Legendary (You don't sac it to use it either, so that's your one unless it's destroyed.)
3) You have give up three draws in order to use it, then give up three more draws to use it again, etc.

The Boastful Gladiator pretty much reads "if you don't have four power on the board by my turn 3. I get a 5/4 first-strike creature for 3 mana. You thought Deadbridge Goliath was pushing broken? Apparently it gets much much worse and in red no less.
Thankfully it's an easy fix. He just needs to be a 4/3 and everything else could stay the same.
Well, first off you'll have to show me how this Deadbridge Goliath is tearing Standard in twine Then there's the fact that there has already existed a 5/4 for three without any drawback other than its colours, which while seeing some play, wasn't a staple or anything.
A 4/3 as you suggest, would auto-die approximately three out of each four times you cast it (remember, you only get one 'turn 3' during the game and you are not guaranteed to have this in your hand; any other copies you get will come later in the game when there will already be giant creatures -or a lot of them- on the other side of the field). And the upside for managing to make it stick in spite of those odds? +1/+0 over it's casting cost in a body without evasion nor protection. Absolutely not worth it.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
Boastful Gladiator's drawback merits it increased stats but because the boasting will likely not happen much isn't as good a design as it could be. The first strike seems just tacked on for value.
I think the boasting should be an attack triggered ability rather than an enter the battlefield ability. Then, the first strike makes sense and feels more like its boasting. You could play it and then regenerate/protection/indestructible it. The opponent gets to build up to killing it and you in turn can burn away their guys. It becomes an interesting subgame.
I was disappointed my card wasn't called bonkers. When Hellbent you get to Myojin of Night's Reach for just 5 mana!

liked pack wolf. 4/4 for 3 that doesn't ETB tapped, and needs a creature tapped to untap it. too bad it doesn't have trample, but oh well, it may have been overpowered if it did... not color intensive either, so Boros can use it

Destroy target non-blue creature.
While awesomely flavorful, there is something that doesn't work here. I mean Go for the Throat is an action that I can see powered by black mana. For Walk the Plank, it's like these pirates caught some Merfolk and they go "Haha! we're gonna make you walk the... Wait a minute... it's a Merfolk! We can't kill him. Damn our luck!" and they let him go.
With my entry today, keep in mind rules involved with cards like Burning Wish as far only being able to work with your sideboard (not your entire collection -- LOL).
I liked whitemages card the most because it shouts "build around me!" It seems the sort of card that you could through into a black control deck alongside megrim.
I voted for arbarmors because it seemed like a fun card to use in a black control deck to keep you alive and use as a finisher.
Both seemed like they would be a blast to play with.
Maokun: The card you posted in today's thread doesn't work quite the way you want it to. (Specifically, it's kind of pointless to give creature cards in your hand champion of any sort, because by the time champion is relevant, the permanent it's on isn't in your hand.)
The ability should probably read (to have the intended functionality) "1(G/W): Creature cards in your hand have flash until end of turn. Whenever you cast a creature spell from your hand this turn, the permanent that spell becomes gains 'Champion a creature'."

"That spell gains "as this creature enters the battlefield, it gains champion a creature""?
"The permanent that spell becomes gains 'champion a creature'." Pretty straightforward, and although there aren't a lot of cards that use that phrase, there are some.
