I think it was alluded to in the first round of judgings that for Emanate, I do have it written as converted mana cost and not mana cost, one being strictly a number, the other being the specific cost.
Maybe I overlooked it, but thank you willows for pointing that out. Emanate will have some rewording in the next round. Also, the wording should include you can only Emanate a spell once per Emanate spell, not like you could stock up on one.

I picked up shifts at work and totally missed my chance on this round. Is it then too late to submit? Am I out of the game?

Also, I think it makes sense to post the next round before the previous round's judging is over. For example:

7th of the month: round 1 submission deadline
8th of the month: round 2 thread opened
11th of the month: round 1 critique deadline

This. I've been advocating this since is saw MOON-E (I think?) do it last year. CCL always runs into the next month, and this seems like a great way to avoid that. Or at least lessen it.
What he means is that if you gain life from lifelink, tapping a creature isn't valuable because combat has already occurred (unless you have a second attack phase or something).

Yes, although in hindsight blocking creatures with lifelink can still make use out of this. Still too narrow though, I'd like to see it at uncommon and cheaper and/or on a creature.

That was me, last April.
That was a very different month, to say the least.
"Make a parasitic mechanic" and then showcase your set with five commons of one color with no mechanics was _________.
I'm sorry! I intended the parasitic mechanic to be presented in somewhat small quantities. Infect was the most recent really parasitic one we had and that only took around 10 percent of Scars (don't quote me on this, I guesstimated based on 20 percent Phyrexian)

Problem with this is that the Top 8 and onwards need critiques to be finished to make cuts to proceed.
lgmhorus is supposed to be hosting for February right? Go ahead and start signups?
Team Modular points post-round2:
Link 33/100 = 133
aurorasparrow 17/56 = 73
yewlas 56/90 = 146
drewdagreek 50/122 = 172
Solestico 72/67 = 139
Jimmy Groove 27/89 = 106
There were at least 4 people competing for the top2. Then, in round 3, despite the efforts made by each one of the players, the team gets only one critique. We all know that critiques are kinda subjective, and that's why we need more than one judging for team (not saying that in this case it would change anything, because GM is a great player and judge). My point is that, suddenly, the effort for those players is blown out by other team members not posting a top3. Also, despite the formula we use, that ensures that points awarded have the same "weight" between rounds, points from last rounds are more important. This happens because there are less judging, making each top3 worth more. The gap between each normalized value is enlarged, because points are less spread between players.
Also, people that do not post top3 still advance for top8 nonetheless, which feels wrong.
I think it's normal to have people drop because they don't have the chance to make top8, but this means not submit a top3, which is against the spirit of the contest (as other players *need* these top3s). People doesn't need to submit a card for the round, but should still submit a top3. It takes less time than posting the cards.
Also, in my opinion, people shouldn't enter CCL if they are not willing to post top3 throughout the first 3 rounds. At least, when I think I won't have time, I do not sign up. When I do, almost always I do my duty, no matter my score. Of course unexpected events may come up, we all have a life after all. But this should be occasional.
My suggestion is:
- People that do not post at least a top3 plus one round of critiques is not allowed to make top8 (next player takes his place);
- People that signup and fail to post top3 in the first three rounds are added to a Black List. Players in this list are not allowed to participate in next month's CCL after failing this requisite. The suspension period may increase with future failures.

*shrugs* It's okay really. The fact is I've been on a modular kick and just couldn't think of a good parasitic mechanic and two of my five commons were more suited as uncommons.

I'm going to start February since I haven't heard from lgmhorus and I have a time-sensitive idea. Either he or Big_Cal can do March.
I'm not really in favor of affecting other months, it would be difficult to keep the "black list" maintained and sometimes people have legitimate reasons to drop out. I suppose we can say that anyone on "probation" (for not posting critiques in any round) cannot make the Top 8 cut, I think in general it usually works out that way anyhow, but there may be cases where someone makes a great card and doesn't do good critiques or any critiques.
Hey, I think the Round 3 title is supposed to be "The Best Laid Plans," unless the word "Land" was chosen to reflect the irony of none of the teams having to make a land card.

Can you explain a bit more what "Color Identity" means?
I'm a bit in the dark because I have to design an artifact.
"Color identity" is a term introduced with the Commander supplement that expands the idea of color to include all mana symbols present on the card. So, while your artifact may be colorless, if it includes RGW in its rules text, it has a RGW color identity.

Holy cow. How have I never before noticed that there are two ways of spelling that? It looks so wrong without the "e."
