Guys, stop rocking the boat. There's nothing wrong with a bit of petraphilia, and in any case there's probably a statue of limitation to that sort of thing.
The dearly departed Scarlett Jane slept with ... a Minotaur...
I always wondered what the artwork for Retribution was all about.
Ahem, anyways, if anyone wants to rebut my estimations of Team Lover’s cards, now's your chance. There were quite a few cards to judge, and I tend to become overwhelmed whenever I'm overwhelmed so I went with a four category point system to help me break it into manageable portions.
EDIT: Seriously, this card is in the top three three times at the time of this edit when there's already Mire's Toll? Unbelievable. Apparently I need to work on my copy-and-paste skills.
Swamp's Toll B
Sorcery
Target player reveals a number of cards from his or her hand equal to double the number of Swamps you control. You choose a nonland from them. That player discards that card.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
Hahaha calm down peeps. There are around 14k Magic cards out there. It's perfectly possible that people forget from time to time about one or two commons from a not very popular set.

I've just noticed this post and I want to comment on it because I'm disgusted.
First I think it's very bad form trying to influence the judges about your competitors. If Legend was one of the judges I see no problem, judges can talk to each other to reach best solution about things (preferably by PM or a QT for each team), but by being a direct competitor of me I think this greatly surpasses the line of ethics. I'm a magic judge and we don't deal lightly with players fishing for infractions for their opponents, depending on the situation it's even a DQ offense... I think this is a similar situation. Actually I want to hear from the responsables here if this kind of thing will be accepted, because if this kind of thing is accepted or even encouraged I prefer to not take part in this competition.
Now, I want to say some things about my creation.
First, magic is a game of almost 20 years and I'm proud of knowing this game since the start. Creating a good card without stepping into previous tapped design is very, very hard (try creating a cheap playable discard card that's not duress, distress, ostracize or blackmail). I'm not saying my card is very different from Mire's Toll neither that I wasn't influenced by it (heck, look at the name of my card, it's a homage for gods sake). When I read the description of my "quest" I instantly thought about discard cards, it fitted like a glove! and everyone loves 1 mana discard cards so I decided to try creating one and since seeing Mire's Toll in the spoiler I had the idea of creating a fixed version of it, since I loved the design of the card, but it was way too weak even for limited play. That card mixed both discard and "swamp matters" in a very elegant and blackie way imho.
So I embarked in the job of fixing the good old Toll, and you know what? I think I did a pretty damn good job. Mind you, I'm not arguing my card is "OMG the most original card ever". In fact I'm pretty fine with losing points of originality, but the card is: printable, makes sense considering the color pie, playable but not broken, isn't strict better than ANY black discard card out there, easy to understand and grok, elegant, likeable (imho) and makes sense considering the mods description.
/rant mode off
Kinda unrelated, not trying to be a prick, but I'm not talking about things I have no idea of, I play magic since 1995, I know a very large portion of cards from top of my head, I'm a magic judge, and I read the mothership since a long time ago, in fact I think I've read ALL Maro published articles so far.
The game is not being dumbed down. Control is doing fine; Draw-Go is not the only kind of control. Aggro is doing fine; Red Deck Wins is not the only kind of aggro. Creature combat is an important core concept and belongs in every color. Mythic rarity is not destroying the game. People whine too much for no good reason. Magic is more popular than ever, so keep calm, brew some decks and play some damn cards.
I've just noticed this post and I want to comment on it because I'm disgusted.
That's how I felt when I noticed your post of Swamp's Toll.
That being said, I'm not here to trade blows with you. I've already elsewhere apologized for my bad form this week and explained that the cause of it was that I was too sick to work, spending way too much time online, and my sick/cranky attitude was manifesting online. I can't say that I wouldn't have commented on your design even if I had been thinking straight, but I can say that if I had, I wouldn't have been so rude about it. I hope you can accept my apology - not an apology for expressing my opinion of your card, but for the nasty way in which I did it. Again, sincerely sorry, moving on now.
@Asrama - For the latest challenge, are we supposed to design a card that literally deals with the opposing team's avatar cards or just something that kills creatures in general?
@Asrama - For the latest challenge, are we supposed to design a card that literally deals with the opposing team's avatar cards or just something that kills creatures in general?
Well... If you think you can create a card that can deal with each of the other teams avatars, I say go for it. I'm not insane, though, and the challenge is basically create a card that kills creatures, within the specifics of each team. You'd probably be able to hit most of the other teams avatar with it anyways, so it makes little difference.
Weeeellll.... Due to, um, life and stuff I actually doubt I'd be able to post the next round on Friday. That means it's going to go up on Saturday, so you'll have to wait until then to find out who survived the last round and get a step closer to figuring out what happened to Jane. Apologies.
No, truth be told it's a mix of work and my roommate's fetish for cleanliness that would probably keep me busy for most of tomorrow (honestly, I don't get her. So what if we haven't cleaned in like a month? I consider the brown stuff on the stove to have as much right to be in this apartment as her).
Not sure I understand why regeneration is disallowed in the Top 8 challenge. It's a replacement effect, which means a regenerating creature does not actually die.

Flavor reasons. The poison doesn't allow revival, remember? Also, I didn't want it to be too easy for you.
You say my new avatar should be in different coulors, if mine was BUG, would changing to B be considered a big enough color change? How about BR?
Hmm... I didn't think what to do with a three color avatar (GM also has this problem). I don't want to pidgeonhole you into WR, but I also feel that creating a mono-black card wouldn't be enough.
Here's my ruling: If you post a mono-colored legend, it can only be W or R, if you post a multicolor one, you may only repeat one color of your avatar, no more.
