I don't know why the focus is on my score. I'm not discussing my score, and I'm typing in English so I don't know what the problem is. I understand that my entry was not perfect. I am, however, deeply concerned that I will be unable to participate in any event in which IcariiFA is participating.
Almost every day of the week I work until 10/10:30, workout from 11-12, come home and eat, then do my cards. Not once has my schedule caused a problem as a contestant, organizer, or judge. Yet now that IcariiFA has seemingly determined to watch my time and submissions like a hawk, there are all sorts of things he can do to make participating a real chore, presumably just for me, but possibly for everyone else. If he's organizing he can close rounds right at midnight ET before I get home, something no one has done in the past. If he's judging in the MCC or judging/participating he can just disqualify me, etc etc...
I just don't know why we would want that level of rigidity and hawkishness in a hobby for-fun forum. It seems not in-keeping with any sort of spirit we would want to foster here, as I noted in my post.
I've elucidated my opinion on the matter multiple times now, so I'm done. Hopefully we don't take the wrong path here.

Stop insulting everyone with quips about "typing in English." You're being overly dramatic with your concerns.
You had 5-6 days to work on it. You can finish it any one of those days. You can also post and say "hey I need more time" and in the super majority of cases, organizers will give you an extension. When someone has posted asking for an extension when I've hosted, I've granted it. That's including when you asked me when I hosted in January. So complaining about the POTENTIAL for someone to penalize you for being late is both moot and overly anxious. If someone chooses to penalize you because you are late, it's their right as judge. If they don't care, they don't care.

I don't want to get too far into the discussion going on here (which is why I crossed out the parts of your post that don't pertain to what I'm about to say and bolded the part I'm trying to focus on), but I would like to warn you that relying on the organizer to be late closing a round is probably not the best idea. I bring this up to try to save you the frustration of missing a deadline because you assumed the organizer wasn't going to close the round on time. I've seen organizers close right on time, and it is well within their rights to do so. You're correct that everyone here should try to foster a fun and friendly environment, but you have to realize that it is not fun for someone who stayed up beyond their normal bedtime to ensure they got their card in by the deadline only to find out that someone else was allowed to post their card much later. I understand that you have not done this, but your post implies that you plan for the host not to close the round at the exact time they say they're going to. Please forgive me if I'm somehow misinterpreted your post.

For the purposes of April's CCL, a card with that costs for example UC, is considered ok? I know that is not strictly multicolor, but you need two specific mana to cast it. Thanks for the answers
Now, I'm not Gerrard's Mom, but I can tell you colorless is not a color and never will be, and hence this card is only one color and passes neither the spirit nor the letter of the challenge.
Yeah as void says I think we'll stick with traditional two-color here. Hybrid would be fine if you like. You could add colorless mana to two real colors if you really want as well.

The scenario you present doesn't make any sense. Do your cards when it's convenient for you and go to sleep when you want. "Getting your card done before you go to sleep" is a pretty good rule of thumb to go by. Presumably we're all adults aged 15-75, who live in various places, with various schedules. The goal of contestants should be to make sure that their submissions are done in such a manner that is courteous to others, meaning that doesn't interfere with others' judging and with the organizer's ability to progress through the month in a timely fashion. No one should care that someone went to bed an hour or two later than anyone else, as you seem to suggest. If the organizer closed the round right at midnight and I needed to change my entry when I got home, I'd probably do what someone did to me when I hosted February and PM the host asking if it were okay to finish my entry. And I can't imagine any reasonable organizer saying no.
I think you have to take these competitions way way too seriously to care about this sort of thing. He thought that (i) I submitted 1 hour after the deadline (ii) knew that I had finalized my submission before the round was closed by the organizer, (iii) knew it was possible I had delayed submitting my entry to hear back on a question I had posed to the organizer, and (iv) knew that me submitting my card 1 hour late negatively impacted nothing. Yet he went ahead and deemed it acceptable to disqualify my entry anyway. I think that's just completely misunderstanding the nature of this forum and the competition and does not foster the right sort of environment. It's alarming that he insists it's "his right as a judge" to disqualify entries on these grounds because that means he could do it again in the future.

Except it totally does becasue that would of been the exact scenario if I was right about it being EST. I worked untill the exact time I thought was the deadline, you had work past it when I had stayed up explicit to try and get it done. It's unfun and unfair to me if someone gets to take extra time past a posted deadline when I work hard to meet it.
As I already admitted, I was wrong about the timing. But the scenario is not unrealistic or nonsensical at all.
"Getting your card done before you go to sleep" is a pretty good rule of thumb to go by
Actually its not.
Presumably we're all adults aged 15-75, who live in various places, with various schedules.
Which is the problem with "getting your card done before you go to sleep."
Since you've only been here 9 months, let me tell you a story. Not all that long ago, in a contest called the DCC, they did exactly as you proposed. People would post cards throught out the day, and the organizer would at some point close it based on their schedule and time zone difference. There were even times when the same organizer would close it at largely different times. There were times when it would close late in the morning the following day, and times when it would close before they day had had passed. At least from my timezone, as perhaps a European friend has decided to close it when they woke up for work in the morning, shutting the days entries down well before midnight my time. Or yours. This made it so many times people would get their entries cut off. They thought they had more time because the day before it closed at a completely different time. Perhaps it even closed before they day was over for them! It made people sad and upset, and botched close races. It was even discussed in the threads. It became clear to the organizers at the time that they needed to be more consistent with their timing.
None of that was hypothetical. I've had it happen, and you can ask long time DCC people and many if not all of them have probably had a time where they didnt post before the organizer unexpectedly closed it. It doesn't feel good or fun. That's why we have deadlines, as a way to say "Anything you post after this time isn't protected from being late!"
So that leaves the CCL deadlines as to how a judge wants to go about it. If you personally feel that it should be more lax, continue to judge that way. I don't and I judge accordingly. Because without adhering to deadlines other unfun things happen.
It's alarming that he insists it's "his right as a judge" to disqualify entries on these grounds because that means he could do it again in the future.
Are you suggesting the a judge isn't allowed to decide whether an entry followed the rules or not? What's "alarming" isn't my attitude on time, it's your entitlement to that idea that you should be allowed to do things later. Whether we are talking about real life work or a any casual game that has a timer, why is it fair that you or someone else get extra time when everyone else did it by the rules? So you can finish your workout?
"Getting your card done before you go to sleep" is a pretty good rule of thumb to go by. Presumably we're all adults aged 15-75, who live in various places, with various schedules. How did you get "Getting your cards done before you go to sleep" from my previous post? Also, why are there quotes around the sentence? I never said anything even remotely like that. What I was trying to say is, you seem to be implying that you plan to get your cards in late because organizers never close the thread on time, and if IcariiFA does close a future contest thread at the time he says he is going to, he is just doing so to spite you. All I was trying to say in my previous post is that planning on people not adhering to a schedule is setting yourself up for disappointment. I was just trying to save you the frustration of missing a deadline because someone closes a thread when they said they are going to. Again, I have seen people close threads right at the deadline in the past, and it is perfectly within their rights to do so. You say you have a tight schedule in RL, right? How do you know the host doesn't also have a tight RL schedule that doesn't allow for them to delay closing the thread? All I'm saying is, it's best not to assume others can rearrange their life to accommodate your schedule. Eventually you're going find someone that can't, and they won't be the one at fault.
I have no idea why you even bothered with this whole part. I explicitly stated in my previous post that my post did not pertain in any way to the specific scenario that occurred between you and IcariiFA. Again, I am only focusing on the part where you seem to be saying that you count on people to be late, and if IcariiFA (or anyone else) actually closes a thread on time at some point in the future, he is in the wrong. As I said before, I'm sorry if I'm misinterpreting you, but that's how I read the post that I was originally replying to.

I guess a good question to ask is when does a round technically close? When the host posts and says the round is closed or when the time on the first post in the round states?
Additionally I feel like requests for extensions should probably be done in thread, or at the very least *this* thread, otherwise the other contestants/judges have no way to know what's going on.

IMO it's the posted deadline unless the host posts otherwise saying that there is going to be a delay and they won't get to it at the posted time. That's how I've run it as an organizer and how I judge.

I agree with this 100%. Extensions to the deadline should always be known by all. It's probably best to ask for them in this thread.

I just PMed everyone who hasn't submitted critiques for the first two rounds in April yet but I'll share here as well. I'm probably going to be doing the calculation and posting of Top 8 in late morning tomorrow, over 18 hours from this post, so I'll be looking at the final scorings then.
Hemlock would still make it into the top 8 based on his round 1 performance, so luckily it didn't really matter in this case. I should probably watch for that during the rounds I guess, I don't want to disqualify people on a technicality but they need to stick to the prompt.
Also @Hemlock, I assumed your Top 3 were ordered from 1 to 3, but please make that clear in the future.
Jimmy would have had the second best score but he didn't submit any critiques I know time can be an issue but this contest relies on peer participation so sadly had to zero out those scores.
Top 8 going up shortly.
I should probably watch for that during the rounds I guess, I don't want to disqualify people on a technicality but they need to stick to the prompt.
CCL organizers aren't supposed to disqualify people; in this case people knowing the contestant failed the prompt and then not putting them in their top 3s based on that should be enough.
BTW I just noticed this but what do you guys think about consolidating the "top 3 required but critiques get bonus" system into just "critiques and top 3 required"?
I haven't seen many people give just Top 3s with no critiques recently, and I think it should really be discouraged. The people who don't make it into the Top 3 need to know why, and it's also something of a check to ensure that everyone critiqued the right people.
Against it. The smart move is always to critique anyway, and the only reason top 3s are required is because they're required to score the contest. I'd rather not raise the barrier of entry.

It slipped from me that the card qas supposed to be an instant or sorcery (And I really wouldn't have been able to make much sense designing inatants for the octopus given its Aura-Flash interactions) but I really liked the positivw feedback and I woould have been happy even if I hadn't made it to the top 8.
Does anyone have any info on what's happening? I know we should be posting critiques according to the schedule but days have passed and the submission time hasn't been officially closed. Some contestants didn't submit either. Everything is a bit odd and I'm wondering if there is some info I'm missing.
Sorry yes, please proceed with critiques. Have to get a certification this week so haven't had much time to check in.
I pushed the critique deadline back a day.

CCL organizers aren't supposed to disqualify people; in this case people knowing the contestant failed the prompt and then not putting them in their top 3s based on that should be enough.

I haven't seen many people give just Top 3s with no critiques recently, and I think it should really be discouraged. The people who don't make it into the Top 3 need to know why, and it's also something of a check to ensure that everyone critiqued the right people.

It slipped from me that the card qas supposed to be an instant or sorcery (And I really wouldn't have been able to make much sense designing inatants for the octopus given its Aura-Flash interactions) but I really liked the positivw feedback and I woould have been happy even if I hadn't made it to the top 8.
I'll post my standings more clearly from now on.
