I agree that your scheme isn't as overpowered as some may have automatically assumed. It's similar to Rhystic Study with an upside, and while it generates a lot of advantage it cost mana to do so. Mana you have to split spend between three opponents as they tap things, and decided based on the order they do. My biggest issue would be memory issues with what got 'frozen' by it's effect. It brushes on the border of power level for schemes, but I don't think it's easy to judge as WAY out there. It'd need testing.
But hey, that's the thing about peer judging. You'll often fine your peers arn't on the same page.

This is a completely new effect, so it's not yet been established to be a certain color. Red feels like a good choice to me philosophically. I think loyalty as a concept can be red or white, so either one would have felt a good choice. Comparing the slices of color pie of the two colors, it's clear that between those two, the one being in need of additional effects is red.
This. Yes. Thank you. This is exactly why I chose red for the effect. (Also "spark" is quite evocative of fire and electricity which in Magic are red.) White was indeed my second choice. Green already manipulates +1 counters, black -1 counters, and blue all counters. I'm just glad someone recognized this.
@bravelion - thanks for the excellent overall crit. But when I read this, it almost brought a tear to my eye.

You're welcome! I just said the truth, nothing more. Beyond that, I also think red definitely needs some means to express emotions other than anger. It's something I've always tried to do in the few custom sets I have made.

The next round will be up either tonight or tomorrow morning, so those who haven't submitted a critique or a top 3 can still do so.
Not that it would make a difference in my case, but don't you get points for actually submitting a critique on time, or this optional month to month depending on who runs it?

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
Please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I am new to the CCL and am wondering about the scoring. If I understand it correctly, in the 1st round, each judge submits a top 3 which gives 3 pts for 1st, 2 for 2nd and 1 pt for 3rd. Right? Some people are listing their top three as 1), 2), 3), which I assume to be the place the card has come in, not the points being awarded. Others are posting their top 3 as 3), 2), 1), which I am again assuming refers to rank, not points. Long question short, would I receive 3 pts for Egak's judgment or would I get 1 pt? His list looks this....
3) Flatline
2) doomfish
1) Freshmeat
I am currently working under the assumption that the 3 in front of my name is my rank in Egak's judgments (so I get 1 pt), not the amount of points he is awarding me (which would be 3 pts). Is this correct? Again, sorry if this is a stupid question.

It's not a stupid question at all in my opinion, and it's a doubt I often had myself too. When I was organizer, in February, I took them exactly as you say here, with 3, 2, 1 referring to ranks and not points. I did all my calculations based on that and nobody ever rectified that, so I guess that you're correct and that our interpretation is the right one. By the way, this is exactly why I never write 3, 2, 1 in my own top 3's, but I always write "first", "second", "third" or 1st, 2nd, 3rd, right to make the organizer see those are my ranks and not my points. I would invite everyone involved in the CCL to do the same or anyway to be the most clear possible in their top 3's, both for other players and for organizers.

The final round will be posted in a few minutes.
EDIT 3/17 - The final round has now come and passed and we have a winner: Moss_Elemental! Congratulations! Also thanks to everyone who took the time to participate in this month's CCL!

• The two public custom sets I've been part a part of the design team for:
"Brotherhood of Ormos" - Blog post with all info - set thread - design skeleton / card list || "Extinctia: Homo Evanuit" - Blog post with all info - set thread - card list spreadsheet
• "The Lion's Lair", my article series about MTG and custom card design in particular. Latest article here. Here is the article index. Rather outdated by now, and based on the old MCC rubric, but I'm leaving this here for anybody that might be interested anyway.
• My only public attempt at being a writer: the story of my Leonin custom planeswalker Jeff Lionheart. (I have a very big one that I'm working on right now but that's private for now, and I don't know if I will ever actually publish it, and I also have ideas for multiple future ones, including one where I'm going to reprise Jeff.)
EDIT: And I'd like it to be someone other than me.
Not that it would make a difference in my case, but don't you get points for actually submitting a critique on time, or this optional month to month depending on who runs it?
3) Flatline
