Whoa, let's not have Franz Ferdinand start a war! (History joke...Gods, I'm a nerd.)
The point is, a majority of people misuse words. Sometimes, that misuse becomes common practice. Eventually, that common practice simply becomes a part of that word.
Language is constantly evolving. Look at the word "epic" sometime.
More to the point, everyone just shut up and enjoy the music whatever it may be at the time.

Thou must be pun-ished for such a terrible joke.
The misapplication of language can widen the gap when it comes to misunderstanding one another. Regarding the usage of "epic," Google the phrase "not everything is epic" and click the first link. Warning: you will be exposed to an expletive-laden rant (but it's hilarious).
And, as mentioned, I own a copy of Franz Ferdinand's debut album (well, CD; I have Hendrix, The Doors, and many others on vinyl). It's enjoyable. But it won't start to be "classic" until 2029.

Man, I wish I still had my vinyl collection. These days I've got close to 150 gigs of music cluttering up my hard drive, but I miss the atmosphere. Pink Floyd just isn't the same without the white noise.

They need to replace "his or her" with "their" on MTG cards.
But isn't 'their' plural?
What they should probably do is to introduce a phrase that replaces "Whenever a creature dies, if ~ dealt damage to it this turn," and widen it to that it also triggers on destroy and -X/-X effects. Maybe "kill", but that sounds silly.

I also mislike the awkwardness of repeated "he or she/his or her" text. It's a strange failing of the English language that we don't have a gender-neutral singular pronoun. I mean, I understand that it's that way because the vast majority of people that have ever lived are not androgynous or hermaphroditic, but you'd think that if the feminist movement uses words like "womyn" there'd be some movement somewhere that uses a gender-neutral singular pronoun.
Singular "they" is about as close as we can get, but it crops up confusion amongst the masses because "they" is traditionally a plural. Or we could just use "it" and "its", but that sounds oddly cold and impersonal.

I both agree and disagree here. It'd be nice to have such a term for brevity's sake, especially on cards like Doom Blade et al. "Kill target creature" is a line that makes sense and is the terminology that many players use anyway.
However, it would be awkward on things like Sengir Vampire. If it were worded "Whenever Sengir Vampire kills a creature", then odd interactions would follow that would change the way the game works. In the current system, if our vampy friend bites someone then that person gets struck by lightning, the vamp still gets the counter. In the proposed changes, the vamp would actually have to deal the lethal blow to get the counter. I guess it makes more sense flavor-wise for the revamped (heh) wording, since the vampire would actually have to be the one that does the killing to get the counter.
I think I just talked myself into supporting this. O.o

There's a long history of writers trying to introduce a gender-neutral pronoun into English. I know there was a movement tried to solidify "he" as the neutral standard, but those efforts were probably thwarted by the feminist movement. Modern writers have attempted to introduce "ne/nir" and even "ze/zir," but they haven't caught on. It's funny; there are some words that slither into the English language whether or not you want them to, yet it's historically been difficult to create a word for a specific purpose. I personally use "they" because it's easy enough to understand in nearly all situations. I think people who choose to interpret "they" incorrectly out of context are just pedants.
Congrabulations Bacon and Vertain! This was my first MCC, but it was a lot of fun. It's impressive that the community puts this on every month. Good effort all around!
I'm a little surprised to have made it, the other cards were pretty cool in my opinion.
A special thanks goes to spezza19, it was a very entertaining month.
And while I'm at it, the other judges are thanked as well for their marvelous, voluntary work.

Oh wow this song.
I had the Deathnote OST in my playlist since forever and one day this track came on.
Stumbling over such a gem in my own collection cought me offguard, since I had never heard it before.
Glad you liked my card, it's an idea I held dear for quite some time so I just HAD to send it in.
It was more part of a vertical 'flavor cycle', much like the newt-cauldron-witch in M14.
The apprentice animates all artifacts, then they have to attack each turn and the master removes all card types from artifacts other than artifact.
But I figured it would also make for an excellent equipment cycle.
Now I'm really excited for round 2.

First of all, my score adds up to 17, not 15; it doesn't matter in the end, though. If you could enlighten me, though, as to why my card recieved such mediocre scores, that would be great.

Thanks for the number catch.
In regards to your score, you took a hit to creativity for basically being a less temporary Unearth, to potential for the card itself being a bit niche, to viability for feeling slightly out of Common's reach, to balance for feeling slightly undercosted, and to creative writing for the name and flavor text being the same stale stuff we've always gotten out of the Orzhov. All stuff I touched on in my judgings.
It's not meant to be a slight to you or your card-making abilities, that's just the way I see it.

Apologies, my MCC lovelies. I'll take the blame for his tardiness (and politely ask you to excuse my own in getting the next round up) as we were having a pleasant time in "The Real World". His judgings will be up shortly, as will Round Two.

Memento Mori, if the nineth lion ate the sun.
BaconCatBug 22 + 16 + 21 + 19 + 19 + 16 = 113
Vertain 20 + 15 + 22.5 + 18 + 17 + 20.5 = 113
aftermarketradio 20 + 13 + 21 + 19 + 18 + 19.5 = 110.5
Tesco(black)lotus 18 + 16 + 20 + 16 + 17.5 + 18.5 = 106
That's right! A tie!
Congrats BaconCatBug and Vertain!
