I notice we are still missing judgments from two judges. So I'm going to ping those guys and extend the judge deadline by one day.
This actually works out, because I haven't had time to prepare a Round 4 yet. I just got back from a trip and my flight was delayed several hours and I'm all jetlagged and stuff.
So, yes, deadline for judges is now 24 hours from now and players can expect Round 4 shortly thereafter!

Ouch, loss by semicolon, you'd think as a programmer I'd better know the value of one...maybe I should run my flavour texts through Word first from now on
As for making it Simic instead of Dimir, I personally feel that drawing cards for combat damage is more blue/green than blue/black (Edric, Bred for the Hunt, Ohran Viper) and I was trying to find a place for green in Darrowport
I´m so sad I missed the deadline this round... It was an AMAZING theme for an MCC, being one of the most amusing ones in a long time (no merit disregarding about previous rounds at all.)
I hope everyone who made it on time still having a great month! (I'll be following it closely)

Ugh, so close to making it to Round 4. I was full of hope with RedLoa's tied judgings but alas, the better card won.
Just want to say, great theme for the month guys. So far this is a super summer for the MCC. A tip of the hat to you.

Some kind of witty comment should be here.

Yeah I was a little sour at first after getting knocked out despite having the 3rd highest score out of the 8 but that's the way the cookie crumbles in pairings, we'll just have to try again next month

Will rounds two through four have similar subchallenges to this round? Because if I end up disregarding one or two challenges, I don't want that to mean that I automatically need to disregard those challenges for three more rounds in order to stay true to a vertical cycle.
I hope that the future rounds and challenges are going to take into consideration the fact that each card is linked to the previous one. We don't want a repeat of a few months ago where you could have ended up having to make a multicoloured land or some other nonsense! :3

Fear not. There'll be plenty of room for connectedness and I'll be selecting flexible challenges that shouldn't force you into an undesirable corner.

Now, to ask all ya'll, is there a coalated list of each type of counter that has been used on a MTG card? Stuff like charge counters, quill counters etc. I can't really think of a way to MagicCards.info the search without a lot of bleed over from counterspells.
You could always just search for "counters". That'd cut out the counterspells and cuts the card total in half, but wouldn't pick up corner cases that have special counters but don't refer to them in the plural.

A quick search for "counter type" on the Mothership led to this thread in the Community Forums. Between the different members, the lists given are pretty comprehensive.

Classic album, thanks for reminding me it existed.
Classic?! The album is less than a decade old.
This is a classic album. This is a classic album. This is a classic album.
The word "classic" implies some vintage, usually a quarter of a century or more. This is the minimum age for cars to qualify as classic, and it seems to hold across other genres. While I like and own Franz Ferdinand's debut album (and applaud their use of a significant historical reference for their band name), they haven't been around long enough to evoke being classic.
Of course, it's disturbing to think that almost all of the 1980's hairbands are now considered "classic rock." Guess it's time to get my walker out... and you damn kids need to get off my lawn!

Thank god, the internet police is here.
Anyway, judgings are in!
I didn't have much time, so it's much more of a running text.
I have to speak my mind: all of those where good to great mechanical designs, but there was a serious lack of top-down goodness.

Jesus, it was like one comment. I take classic as subjective, as a young man I'm not gonna know about artists that died long before I was born and bands like cream that haven't stood the test of time. I liked the album, it made me think of my youth and that is all.
So guys, what do ya'll think about my first draft for this round?

The first ability of my round 4 card is so clunky to read, but I can't find any other way of wording it. After spending some time on Gatherer, I couldn't really find a close comparison for what I was trying to do, but my knowledge of older cards isn't that great.
Could someone show me how to word the ability better? I was thinking maybe:
"At the beginning of your upkeep, target opponent may choose an artifact he or she controls. If he or she does, you gain control of it. Otherwise, destroy target creature that player controls."
That seems to work the same way, it seems weird to have a conditional on just choosing an artifact, and the "otherwise" is seldom used in card text.
Flavor factored heavily into my scoring this month, with Elegance and Creative Writing carrying more weight in their respective sections than for other MCCs. Of the four final entries, I think BaconCatBug did the best job of trying to illustrate a top-down design card.

Well, I usually make use of the database at gatherer.wizards.com.
//gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&text=+[counter">+[on]+![+1/+1]+![-1/-1]+![countered]&type=+![instant]"]here's a pretty accurate search including charge counters, but no +1/+1 or -1/-1 counters.
//gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&text=+[counter">+[on]+![+1/+1]+![-1/-1]+![countered]+![charge]&type=+![instant]"]Here's the same search without the cards that uses charge counters (wich happen to be a lot.)
Finally, here you have an exhaustive list of counters from our beautiful wiki.
I hope this helps you, Baconcatbug
