Yes, they're in alphabetical order, except apparently in Magic world F comes before D for some odd reason. Nothing's ever easy when it comes to Magic card templating.
Edit: BTW, I'm a bit surprised I haven't gotten any replies to that post. I'm assuming that means nobody found anything glaringly wrong with it.

I guess what they did was put a keyword ability common to the color right up front. Then put the other "f" ability immediately after it (they're reversed from white to black) but preceding the rest of the alphabet for aesthetics(?) rather than combat relevance.

Aren't activated abilities that cost colored mana to activate supposed to be listed in the same order they would be listed in for a card's mana cost? For instance, shouldn't RickRister's card have its activated abilities listed in standard Bant order - GWU, not UWG? I'm sorry if I'm missing something here, but I felt compelled to mention it it since it is an objective matter in a close contest, and all of my research tells me what I'm saying is correct (the most recent printing of Phelddagrif and Questing Phelddagrif for example).

Well, there's no need to quibble about stuff like this in a contest you won.
Even if I was already way ahead (or behind), I would have felt compelled to bring this up for clarity's sake. I wasn't 100% positive I was correct about the order of activated abilities, but bravelion's crits are enough confirmation for me. He's much better with such things than I am.
On another note....Woo Hoo! It's good to know I've still got it, even after an extended leave of absence from the contests. Thanks to the judges, and special thanks to void_nothing for keeping these contests going all but single-handed these days. Last but not least, props to IcariiFA and RickyRister for their excellent months. I really though RickyRister's final entry was quite good. Especially the flavor.

I can't remember whether microtext is more an elegance or quality issue.
It's only elegance. Something like Warp World has microtext but there's nothing wrong with the quality of the card - it made it to print, after all. (It's also pretty elegant imo, but that's another issue.)
Just want to say 1) that the Immortal Sun is not merely Naya. We don't know what it is. The Vampires had access to it a long time ago, and the Naya colors had access to it more recently. It's cloaked in mystery. I think Abzan is a fair color combination to represent it. (see point 4). 2) I probably should have named the card "Lost Altar of the Sun" instead of "Lost Altar of the Sun Empire" to avoid the color issue. But, my thinking too was that the Sun Empire had access to something that was not intrinsically native to itself, so this altar and its artifact didn't need to be products of Naya colors as such. The front half could be WG in its entirety, for example, but the back could not. I chose not to go the Archangel Avacyn route of having the back half have an effect that the mana cost of the card could not allow. 3) I don't understand the criticism that there are a lot of words on a double faced card. Neither side is particularly complex, there is a certain aesthetic and functional symmetry between front side and back, and neither side is wordy. The card is also mythic. 4) Why the presumption that the flip cards in Rivals of Ixalan need to flip into locations just like on Ixalan? Just as there are lost cities on Ixalan, why could there not be lost altars that have ancient divine artifacts in them? This really does not feel like a stretch. It is in keeping with the "Lost City" South American trope that Wizards is playing with in Ixalan. You can see how MaRo answers this question here. 5) No appreciation for the strong reference to Aztec culture regarding human sacrifice and linking that to the Immortal Sun? I'm definitely taking *some* liberty to envision what the future story might be, but one has to do that to some degree to design cards for a future set. I think it'd be culturally immersive for the prized and mysterious Immortal Sun to deal with blood and sacrifice, hence the Abzan coloration and card design.
That's ridiculous Void. Sabotaging my entry like that is not okay. MaRo directly contradicted you in his interview about Rivals for Ixalan double-faced card design. And you don't get to determine what the unknown lore is (and as a judge for a card design community you should be happy to see different lore directions than the ones you expect). It is factual that the Immortal Sun is not simply a Naya construct. And taking off 1.5 points for elegance for there being "a lot of words" when you sum up both sides of a card is nuts. Both sides are clear and straight-forward.
More importantly, an unwillingness to reconsider judgment is acting in bad faith.
I should not have to make guesses or leaps of logic to justify the flavor of your card. No one sabotaged your entry but yourself. Judgments are final and always have been. The issue is closed.
No one is asking you to make guesses, only to be open to creation of future possibilities. I provided links to official Magic lore which contradicts your understanding of Ixalan. I provided links to MaRo saying that Rivals of Ixalan double-face cards will not necessarily be cards that flip into lands. And the idea that a mythic rare slot cannot be used to make something novel that doesn't follow usual strictures of a set (like Startled Awake did in SOI or a three color mythic Sarkhan Unbroken in DTK) is just plain wrong.
And you still have not given a sufficient (or coherent) reason for why the card is inelegant. Both sides work with each other aesthetically, flavorfully, and mechanically. Both sides are clear and straight-forward.
Close the issue all you want, but everyone else in this forum will recognize that you are being unjust, mean-spirited, and unduly obstinate. I hope you reconsider.
Anywhow since I knew we gotta make the legendary my entry for MCC Nov R.1. Would have been paired with this guy
I was eliminated by the way.
The Spectersire of Despair1BBR
Legendary Creature - Specter
Flying
Double strike
Specter ability (discard when combat yada yada)
2/1
He has double strike, flying and specter
Which is why his weapon was weak I guess.
Also he is specter so I didnt want to give him a "true name" but he is flavored as the specter guy who fathered despair by poking at the wounds of Hope)
Not sayong it matters now but
Just wanted to share.

An interesting design. Your round 1 design had to stand on its own merits, of course, but I did enjoy seeing this legend.
I would like my card be judged by someone else. Void_nothing seems incapable of judging a card designed by me fairly.
In void_nothing's critique of my card, he noted that made a declaration that MaRo himself explicitly denied - namely that on the plane of Ixalan, all flip cards will always have a back-half that is a land. MaRo rejected that contention, and there's no plausible reason to make that contention. Just because something has not yet been done on a plane does not mean that it cannot be done (see Startled Awake) (see all the werewolf transform cards in Eldritch Moon). This is an objective error that void_nothing has made in his judgment of my card - there is no rule that all flip cards MUST flip into lands on the plane of Ixalan - yet he feels the need to create that rule. This alone should disqualify his judgment. The number of cards printed in Magic's history that diverge from his principle is too vast for that opinion to be legitimate.
Void_nothing also refuses to acknowledge the plain flavor of my card, independent of one's knowledge of Ixalan or Aztec culture. It is fun and flavorful to sacrifice your own creatures and use their blood to power up a divine artifact. That is immensely satisfying and flavorful, something that all players of all skill levels and levels of engagement with Magic would appreciate. Instead, he focuses solely on the name of my card, and in so doing refuses to afford me any creative freedom and refuses to acknowledge official objective Magic lore about the relationship of the Sun Empire to the Immortal Sun. I can understand taking off 0.5 points for not making this as clear as it could have been, but to take 2.0 points off is beyond the pail. Void_nothing considered the plain flavor of all other entries except mine.
The Magic lore, and the lore plastered on the opening page of MTGSalvation.com, shows that there is a lot about the suns of Ixalan that we don't know, and thus subject to creative innovation and interpretation. There is a lot about the lore that we don't know, and void_nothing believes that he gets to make up the future and past of Ixalan while the rest of us and the Wizards Creative Team do not.
At the end of the day, it seems that void_nothing is being vicious simply because I was the card's designer. There is no other explanation for being so condescendingly quick to shoot down my requests to reconsider the merits of my card. There is no other explanation for being so condescendingly quick to refuse to acknowledge that one's understanding of Ixalan was flawed and needs correcting. There is no other explanation for insisting that flip cards in all future sets on Ixalan must flip into lands.
I actually suspect that we won't see most of the flip cards in Rivals for Ixalan flip into lands. We already got the geography pretty well mapped out. But in truth it doesn't really matter.
Judges should be required to act in good faith. Judges should want to act in good faith.
Hey don't look at me, man, I thought he was a little lenient in some areas. Yeah it sucks losing in the first round by half a point (been there, done that) but publicly calling out your judge and generally being confrontational isn't going to make you many friends. Please remember that judges and organizers are only human. If you have a problem with a judgement, you'll probably get a lot further sending a (polite!) private message about it. For now, maybe ease off the salt.

Hey void, does my card as it is currently written pass for sub-challenge #2, or do I need to reword it so that it grants the ability to the creature itself? Sorry if this is cheating, and thanks in advance for any clarity you can offer.

It is not cheating to ask for a clarification. Your card does pass, as written, because the token is tied to another creature you control doing something, and is in effect a lot like granting a Geist of Saint Traft-esque triggered ability, only written cleaner. Something that would not pass would be giving your legend a bonus that scales with the number of creatures of a certain type you control.

I was eliminated by the way.
Legendary Creature - Specter
Flying
Double strike
Specter ability (discard when combat yada yada)
2/1
He has double strike, flying and specter
Which is why his weapon was weak I guess.
Also he is specter so I didnt want to give him a "true name" but he is flavored as the specter guy who fathered despair by poking at the wounds of Hope)
Not sayong it matters now but
Just wanted to share.
An interesting design. Your round 1 design had to stand on its own merits, of course, but I did enjoy seeing this legend.

Judges should be required to act in good faith. Judges should want to act in good faith.

What? No. Round 1 judging is over. DQs only happen for edits after the deadline but before the judging period is finished.

Who's a good rules guru to talk to about a submitted card?Never mind, I misread the card and confused myself.
