You may play an additional basic land this turn. ~ deals damage to target player equal to the number of lands that entered the battlefield this turn.
Rudyard - This ability is hard to parse. I read it three times I think. It should probably count down instead of up, and even then I'm not sure how well it plays in practice. I do think your attempt is more good than bad tho. Subject16 - Elegant common in my eyes. Seems fine, but not that exciting. The wording is very unorthodox and is good design space in GU flash creatures... but how many of those exist? Mergatroid_Jones - Perfectly reasonable common, and in wedge too. I wonder if the stats are slightly too low or not. Cardz5000 - "as it was cast" is a little clunky in my eyes, but I guess it's a fair complexity cost for the mechanic. I wonder how much design space it actually has. It seems to me like it's one of those things that's really modal but don't have that much cohesion between each other. Spelldreamer - This is actually a monogreen card today, Elvish Rejuvenator. Perhaps an even larger body could help it out, or a blue ability. As is, I can't have it win. Aven Scout - This doesn't feel multicolored to me, but it does feel the most common among all cards in this round. Ulka - This begs to either draw a card first, or to be able to hit creatures. As is, it's very underpowered.
Mergatroid_Jones felt the most appropriate as a winner for me. Runner up is Cardz5000 and I would prefer his contest as the mechanic seems quite interesting, but I want to stick with the best design this time. Third is Subject16 that carves out perfectly utilizable design space for UG flash creatures - even if narrow.
Next contest: Blue aggro.

This month was the eight year anniversary of this thread. Eight years! It's honestly incredible to me that this thread has kept chugging along for this long.
While I may have left Club Flamingo, Club Flamingo hasn't left me. This thread, and what came out of it, continues to have influence on my life. Just ask my friends, who give me flamingo-themed gifts every year for Christmas. Or look at my household's semi-regular celebrations of "Flamingo Time," an impromptu holiday based on the time shown on a broken flamingo clock I have hanging above the entrance to my kitchen. This strange corner of the internet was a huge part of my life back in the day, and it makes me happy to see that it's still going in some form eight years later. Maybe if it's still around two years from now we can do something special for the ten year anniversary.
With all of that said, here's another Statistics update:
Club Flamingo Statistics Update — November 2018
Thread Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆. Thread ratings don't exist anymore, but I'm grandfathering this rating in. You are all worth five stars to me.
Thread Size: Unsurprisingly, we're still #1 with 61,261 posts. As of the last update three years ago we had 59,150 posts. That's only 2,111 posts over three years (as compared to the 17,600 reported in the two year period covered by the last statistics post), but from what I understand about overall forum traffic this isn't that surprising to me. Still, the glory days of nonstop spam appear to have ended.
Thread Views: First, with 2,324,835 views! Three years ago we were at 2,008,742 views. Crazy. Is anybody even looking at any other threads? You know, if everybody who looked at the thread posted we might have better stats for next time.
Posts per Day Lifetime: 20.61. This is a significant drop from the 34.19 we had three years ago. The thread has now been alive for 2,972 days, which I may remind you again is eight years.
Posts per Day since last update: 1.69. Last time I checked this the average was 24.42. This represents 2,111 posts over 1,243 days. If you scroll back through past statistics updates you'll see our highest-ever PPD rate was 99.35 over a single month period. So... it's been higher.
Thanks Count: 66. Maybe people have forgotten about this feature? Go thank the OP if you haven't, if only so that in 2025 when I come back here I'll get to say we kept that going up.
No changes to the top 10 (other than some change in position)... and I'm not sure whether there ever really will be. void_nothing is has made the biggest gains lately but still has a long way to go to crack the top 5.
Ahem. You may wish to forget I said that. It's still good to think that you look back now & then.
I do feel slightly guilty now for having spurned the thread & the forum as a whole during exactly the time period you mention. I'm back now though! Albeit with a new ID, because the new forum design really is hot garbage.
But anyway! My point is not kvetching. My point is that a revival is possible. We'll try our best to get it all plush & pink & fancy in time for the 10th anniversary.
Subject16- Skaa Slumwalker
An evasive two trop beater. This card is too good at common. At uncommon, it would be okay. At common, it would need to be unable to block to justify such effective evasion. In a very token heavy format, this might be okay.
VolrathTheRisen- Fleeting Psychomachius
A meaner Phantasmal Bear. I like what you're doing here making the creature more precarious to up the ante. This can get killed by a 0/1, which is kinda cool. BUT this is too powerful for what it is. A three power evasive creature for one mana is going to make problems for the meta, and there's no way around that. This should be a 2/1, or it should be a 3/2 for 1U.
Mirrislegend- Spry Dreamharvester Ophidian's dream. This is the Scroll Thief we want to cast, but I really do think it's just a bit too powerful. I think if it were "When deals to a player, you may pay 1 to draw a card" it would be okay. It wouldn't break the world if they printed the card as you posted it, but it does seem a tad too efficient.
Spelldreamer- Flying Devilfish// Awakened Devilfish
[Note: The power/toughness of Flying Devilfish is missing. I'll assume it's a 2/1. As a 1/1, it wouldn't be much of an aggro card.] Welkin Terns into Gyarados. I do love the flavor here. This is reminiscent of the Kamigawa flip cards in a way that I like. The Mistral Charger half of the card is already good, and the requirement is an appropriate one, as it's not easy to obtain in limited. In constructed, it would only be played if there were something that triggered it easily, and as such it wouldn't be overpowered. In EDH, it could get bonkers, but that's part of the point of EDH. It might actually be playable in Modern, which is a good thing for a card that won't break standard. The card is really powerful, but it should only be broken in formats where broken things are already possible.
Cardz5000- Illusionist's Feint Essence Flux for attackers. This needs reminder text describing how this interacts with blockers. I attack with Scroll Thief, and you declare a block with Hill Giant, I cast Illusionist's Feint, blinking Scroll Thief. Now Scroll Thief is attacking again, and Hill Giant can't block it because it already declared a block, and all blockers are declared at once, so you couldn't now choose to block with your Goblin Hero either. This is how I understand it to work, but I'm not 100% sure I'm correct on all that. Again, you need reminder text to help guide people through this one.
Forestsguy- Thinwing Mistmagus
A small, blue Craterhoof Behemoth. I like that targeting them brings them down, but I don't like how explosive this card is. Its job is to end the game. It has a backup mode of being flying guy, but really you are only playing this as a finisher. I think you'd be shocked how quickly this card counts to twenty damage. I don't really like the "bam you're dead" approach, and it's not easy to target all their guys.
Ulka- Suspicious Librarian// Binding Avenger
The meek librarian turns into the ultimate Master of Diversion. I like this card. The librarian sits around warning you not too talk to loud, then if you do, you get a menacing smack in the face. This card is really impressive at getting through, considering how hard it is to keep up two blockers when your best one gets tapped down, and one is still tapped from last turn. This doesn't flip quickly or reliably enough to be a true aggro card, though.
JaceTheBodySculptor - Watcher of the Tide Cosi's Trickster rides again. Okay, okay, this isn't the best blue aggro card in the world, but it's so joyous. I could even foresee a format where things like forecast and other reveal mechanics exist to make this work. To be honest, I wanna let this card win but it's a fun jank rare, not a blue aggro card.
My favorite submissions are the last two, but neither one is truly aggo in its blueness. The one that best strikes the balance of strong but not too strong seems like the Devilfish. Winner: Spelldreamer.

IIW: North America Wildlife and Native Peoples Plane
Sinkhole SeasonBGU
Enchantment
Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, target creature gets -2/-2 until end of turn. When that creature dies this turn, draw a card.
BUT this is too powerful for what it is. A three power evasive creature for one mana is going to make problems for the meta, and there's no way around that.

You have it right, it is typically unblockability tied to a flicker effect. I don't think this needs any reminder text anymore than Ninjutsu needs additional text telling you that the incoming ninja can't be blocked because it's after blockers have been declared. Not to mention that if you end up using this to save a creature from a removal spell during the declare attacker step, the creature could still be blocked after it returns. At best the reminder text would be (The retuning creature isn't blocked and creatures can't block it if blockers have already been declared.) both of which are just always true statements of the game...

JaceTheBodySculptor - Watcher of the Tide
Cosi's Trickster rides again.
