little_money: epic WAS intended to be a sort of legendary effect for spells, but I specifically want the word "legendary" appearing in the type line of your card.
Sliver KingWWUUBBRRGG

All Sliver creatures gain protection from everything. "Just when you thought they couldn't get any worse..."

Mythx, Guardian of the Mox 1

Design a mono-blue instant (this includes kicker alts costs etc.) that doesn't draw card(s) (or put card(s) into your hand) bounce permanent(s), mill cards, or counter spell(s) (or exile them etc.) Basically make an interesting blue instant that doesn't do the most basic things that blue can do.
"Your attack has been rendered harmless. It is, however, quite pretty." —Saprazzan vizier
Basically, I want big, powerful and awesome cards with big, powerful, awesome abilities.
Not a problem. I'm actually gong to use a card that I've previously designed, as it fits the challenge well.
Satosh, Nether Angel :symw::symw::symb::symb:
Legendary Planeswalker - Satosh {mr}
[+1] Discard a card. You gain 2 life.
[-3] Put a 2/2 White Angel creature token with flying and a 3/3 Black Demon token with fear into play.
[-5] Until end of turn, creatures you control get +2/+2 and gain fear, flying, firstrike, lifelink, wither, and vigilance. [3]
(The render has a few issues, but ignore them. It's mainly about the art. )
Cosmic Colossus :xmana::10mana:
Legendary Creature - Golem
Cosmic Colossus comes onto the battlefield with five times X +1/+1 counters.
Remove 5 counters from Cosmic Colossus: Regenerate Cosmic Colossus. He doesn't look so big, until you realize that was a house he just stepped on.

we've got some pretty cool submissions so far. Looking at my schedule, I have an hour or two of free time tomorrow afternoon around 2pm PST, so let's just keep things open until then.
Shaska, Chaos Incarnate3BBRR
Legendary Creature - Dragon (R)
Flying, Haste
When Shaska, Chaos Incarnate enters the battlefield you may sacrifice X creatures and discard Y cards in your hand. If you do, target opponent sacrifices X creatures and discards Y cards from his hand.
Pay 2 life: Shaska, Chaos Incarnate gets +1/+1 until the end of turn.

"Those who endure in the face of suffering, those whose faith shines long in evil days, they shall see salvation." -Song of All, canto 904
I'll throw out two entries, since I haven't done this in a while. You can pick which you want to judge.
Darmgor, Reaver of Souls3BBB
Legendary Creature - Demon Lord
Flying, Haste
When Darmgor, Reaver of Souls enters the battlefield, sacrifice all non-demon permanents you control.
When Darmgor, Reaver of Souls attacks, - the defending player discards his or her hand.
6/5 Flesh and blood and thought and mind - all are food for demonkind.
Nachtmore Tomb
Legendary Land
Whenever a creature is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, add B to your mana pool. T, Sacrifice three creatures. Each other player sacrifices a creature. To waste a life is tragic. To waste a death is just stupid.
Ok, I'm just gonna write notes to everyone for this one.

This is an absolute smash hit on flavor. Fantastic concept, solid execution. Good work. However, I'm not sure how this card will actually play- seems like it might be a little underpowered.
Quote from Little_Money »
I'm nervous about how much this guy scales up. In a multiplayer game, his untap ability could easily wrath a good portion of the board and gain you 100+ life, especially if you're able to pump him up by getting a beat in along with a couple other giants. Lifelink might be the culprit here, but either way this guy just scales up too fast to be safe.
Quote from Megiddo »
I really like this guy. His enter the battlefield ability is just so ridiculously big and splashy that it's hard for me not to love it- I love the idea of getting to flip a couple Blind Hunters straight onto haunting duties. Couple critiques though- trample seems like another layer of complexity on a card that already has a lot of moving parts, and for heaven's sake, why isn't this B/W?! As it is, I feel it's very, very close to being spectacular, but not quite there just yet. You're right- haunt isn't useful, but this card uses it so well that it draws people into playing it.
Quote from bloodyspasm »
Wow, this is sure an all-in card, isn't it? Turn 6 can get you 10 power of flyers, but if it dies, you're so behind on development that it's probably game. As a note, trample in blue is just wrong, and the "all my islands are now little flying dudes" is just another layer of risk on an already risky card. Basically, if you cast this guy, you're probably winning the next turn, but I wouldn't EVER play it, just because Volcanic Fallout blows you out so thoroughly that I wouldn't want to risk it.
Quote from Surging Chaos »
Oh hey, it's Progenitus that you can reanimate. Boring.
Quote from clownin »
This card is really, really narrow, and not nearly cool enough to justify the narrowness. Why is it a legend? Why would anyone want to play it? I can see maybe trying to run it in a deck with Coalition Relic and Darksteel Ingot, but that seems terrible. Basically, it's a tiny guy with an ability that will almost never be useful. People running actual moxen have way better things to cast than this.
Quote from FoshM »
Weird mana cost, but that's ok. I think this card has a lot of potential, but is currently trying to do too much. If you cut the Selenia, Dark Angel ability, you're left with a 6/6 flyer for 6 that keeps all other creatures off the board. That still feels okay, you know?
Quote from Brofaux »
I understand wanting to enter an already proven nice piece of design, but just tacking "legendary" to a planeswalker doesn't do anything. Why does it need to be legendary? If it had abilities that concerned legendary permanents it might make sense, but I know all you were doing here is taking a card you already had and knew was a solid design and made it "legendary" so it qualified for the contest.
Quote from Erikcu »
Oh man, this is maybe the timmiest card ever made. I wish you had made the activated ability with a similar mindset- "remove five +1/+1 counters from ~: deal 20 damage to each creature" wouldn't have been broken and could have been totally, ridiculously awesome. Another card that's close but not quite there.
Quote from Krey »
Cards that reference X and Y are usually dangerous, but this one seems ok. However, the whole package isn't particularly innovative- the whole thing feels a lot like Malfegor. The pseudo-Hatred is cool, but I still look at this card and feel like I've seen everything on it before.
Quote from Mobiusman »
This is a well put together card. Vampires are hot these days, but this feels fresh anyway. It's balanced, fun and not particularly broken. Not quite the awesome flavor that I've seen in earlier submissions, but a consistent card. Nice.
Quote from Stairc »
I'm not sure why you thought that it was okay to enter the contest as much as you wanted while everyone else got one entry, but I'll just go over the first card and not count the second one at all (I didn't even read it). This guy has a HUGE drawback, and if your opponent has any instant speed removal, its probably straight-up game over. It's nice that his discard ability triggers on attack and not combat damage, but I don't think that's enough to make up for the fact your entire board had to die to bring him to play.
And now a series of clicking boxes for your enjoyment:
well, you know, I just bashed my head against the wall long enough to forget that I had done any judging at all so I was able to restart with a clean slate.
Spellshaper's Academy
Land
Spellshaper's Academy enters the battlefield tapped.
:symtap:: Add two mana of any color to your mana pool. Spend this mana only on the activated abilities of creatures you control.
E: @Little_Money: Yeah, 8 mana is a lot and all, but like I said, in multiplayer you're looking at probably killing a player, wrathing everyone else's board, and then gaining more than a hundred life. That's broken, no matter what way you cut it.
So you get a big, game-breaking effect for an 8-mana card of three different colors? Sounds about right to me.
Temple of Rakdos Land
~ comes into play tapped. T, sacrifice a creature: add BR to your mana pool. Some say it's just the wind, blowing through the sewer tunnels. Some say it is the screams of the blood offerings to an ancient foe...
I like this card very much. =)
Don't know if its any good, but I still like it, lol.
Tritropolis Docking Ports Land {MR} 2:symtap:: Return a creature you control to your hand and add X/2 to your mana pool (rounds down). X equals that creature's converted mana cost. The skies tremble and static energy ripples through the air. The airships have docked, the shipments are in. The pollution is high, but so what? As long as we get our money...
The idea is that here we have a very futuristic city taking place in the world of magic. As the card hints, the megacity is very polluted and not taken care of that well, but business is booming.
In this card, it seems that some very expensive, secret business is taking place that is related to all the pollution. Perhaps they are conducting some illegal business? Or perhaps... the government itself is corrupt, and they don't care about what they do to their people, as long as they get the profits...
Hmm.
