MireswallowWWBB
Sorcery (R)
Destroy all creatures. Then, if this spell is primal, return a creature destroyed this way to the battlefield under your control. Those who understand its hunger can use that to their advantage."
- Karvas, coatl shaman
Test of Purity2WW
Sorcery (R)
Exile all creatures. At the beginning of the next end step, return those cards to the battlefield under their owners' control. The purity of one's character and the purity of one's soul are two very different things.

This Round: The Answer to Everything Create a common hard counterspell
This means it can counter anything, usually with a benefit
See this explanation:
A distinction is made between so called hard counters and soft counters. In general a hard counter is any card that stops a spell from resolving and it is not possible to play that spell again. A soft counter on the other hand is a card that stops a spell from resolving, but gives the opponent recourse, such as the possibility to pay additional mana to have the spell still resolve. Counterspells that also have a limited range of targets or that require additional resources are also called soft counters.
For example, Counterspell, Hinder, Dissipate and Dismiss are all considered hard counters. Mana Leak, Spell Snare, Delay, Remand, Negate and Abjure on the other hand are called soft counters.
R&D employs a rule of thumb in which hard counters require in their mana costs (though some exceptions such as Vex and Arcane Denial exist).[1] Source

The Tiebreak is tied at 8-8, which isn't peanuts. I cannot give a verdict other than they are both in.
Congratulations to both!
Ninty Picaroon1UR Creature - Human Pirate (U)

Deny :2mana::symu::symu:
Instant (C)
Counter target spell. Put Deny on top of its owner's library third from the top. "Futile resistance leads to unwary defeat."
I guess Primitive is similar to my previous created keys where only certain type of lands can be used to cast it which doesn't fits this round as well.
I read this round as "create a Common hard counter without drawback Mana Leak but not better or equal to Counterspell. A good example is Stoic Rebuttal."
Sorry, I thought we keyworded it! I see though, it has to have no drawback. I'll keep reworking. I have juust always hated hard counters for CMC 3. Mebbe time for a 2 color.

Even if we keyworded it, if a keyword is not evergreen (like Flying and Trample), you have to spell it out on every common and uncommon.
The difference between a hard counterspell and a soft counterspell.
A soft counterspell is conditional:
- counter target green spell
- counter target spell if it's controller controls an Island
- counter target spell unless it's controller pays 3
A hard counterspell can counter anything. Whether it has a drawback or a benefit is up to you.
- Counter target spell. You gain 3 life.
- As an additional cost to cast this, sacrifice a land. Counter target spell.

@flappy
You added "usually with a benefit" that makes me think that cards like Deprive wouldn't fit the bill.
@pstmdrn
Your card with Primitive is eligible since flappy clarified it out.
The number of hard counterspells with a benefit outnumbers the ones with drawbacks. Often the drawback makes it a soft counterspell.
Anyway, yes Deprive is a hard counter, iirc.
What do you mean with "flappy clarified it out"?
I think a card with Primitive is fine, as long as it has full reminder text, or not keyworded at all (like Imperiosaur).
Matt - Thanks. Though, I do consider Primitive a drawback so it's not really in spirit with the challenge.
Drawbacks are fine, as long as they don't give your opponent an opportunity to undo the counterspell, or only make it target certain things. Those would make it a soft counter.
That said, I think a Primitive Counterspell is a great addition to our set.
Everyone should remember not to create a powerful common that can be considered an uncommon or rare hard counter. Avoid Dissipate, Absorb, Undermine, and Rewind. Memory Lapse is a soft counter.
