Welcome to MtGS Design Idol. Inspired by a somewhat popular television show, we have done away with the judges and put this entire contest in the hands of the voters.
1: Have Fun!!! 2: Each round, except round 1 (signup round), will have a theme, and the contestants will design cards to match that theme. Early on the themes will be more open. In the later rounds, they will become more specific and challenging. 3. Players may submit a new, original card, or any card[s] they have created, so long as they are the players own original design and the card[s] meet the challenge requirements. 4: Each round will have 3-4 days to submit cards and 2 days to to vote for the cards. 5: Judging is only done by poll and the player[s] with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated. Polls will be anonymous and open to the general public. You may vote for as many, or as few cards as you like (including yourself if you want). 6: Any player that doesn't submit a card for any reason will be eliminated. It's harsh, but necessary to keep the game moving. 7: If a player submits a card or cards that does not meet the challenge requirements, that player may receive a DQ and be eliminated. If possible, the player in question will be notified to try and correct the problem before the end of the round. If the mistake is not corrected or is not caught until after the voting has begun, then the hosts will decide if a DQ will be assigned. 8: The game will continue until we have a single champion... our Design Idol. 9: The winner of the last Design Idol will earn a first round bye into the next game should he or she decide to defend his or her title (this means only one player).
With one vote, Krey, Atrius and Froxy fall out in this round. We hope you had fun. Thanks for playing Krey, Atrius and Froxy!
This round I will be continuing our theme of the American elections.
The challenge will be to create a red creature that hoses blue or a blue creature that hoses red.
-Each color has multiple abilities/strategies, so your card should not be a general hoser, but should specifically hose a only single ability/strategy.
The round ends 12 midnight, Sunday, Sept 28 EDT (When Sunday becomes Monday)
Maharaja's Consort(U/R)(U/R)(U/R)
Creature - Human Advisor {C}
Flash
When ~ comes into play, return target creature to its owner’s hand. “There is a saying that behind every great man is a great woman. The Maharaja has seventy seven wise and beautiful wives, and no man doubts his greatness.”
2/2Let me give an argument for how this meets the round requirement. It is blue and it hoses Devour, the Shards of Alara red strategy, by card disadvantage. It's also a red card that hoses control gaining, which is principally blue. Really though, everyone dislikes having their stuff bounced to their hand but white and green have the low costs and black and green have the better coming into play effects so bounce by itself hoses blue and red significantly more than the other colors.
Karma Lasher(B/R)(B/R)(B/R)
Creature - Human Wizard R
If a player would draw a card except the first one he or she draws in his or her draw step each turn, or would look at any amount of cards from the top of his or her library, Karma Lasher deals 2 damage to him or her.
2/2
Fanatic Chronomancer - RR Creature - Human Wizard [r]
As long as Fanatic Chronomancer is tapped, objects on the stack resolve in reverse order.
:symr:, :symtap:: Fanatic Chronomancer deals 1 damage to target creature or player.
1/1 "We need 1.21 Jigoshocks? Great Scott!"
Hoses counterspells, along with other silly responsive antics blue is so fond of.
Herald of the Invoker :1mana::symr::symr::symr:
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard (M)
Whenever an opponent plays a blue spell or an ability from a blue source during your turn, you may pay :symr:. If you do, destroy target Island. “I will turn the oceans to vapor, and force my sister’s hand.”
3/3
Illus. Jason Engle
Goblin Snitch 2RR
Creature - Goblin (R)
Whenever a player plays a blue spell during a turn other than their own, Goblin Snitch gains protection from blue and deals 2 damage to that player.
2/2
Mistress of Illusions :symu::symu:
Creature - Human Wizard
Shroud
You have Absorb 1 (If a source would deal damage to you, prevent 1 of that damage.) Through illusions she merges body and mind.
0/1
Torrential Diverter 2U
Creature-Human Wizard U,Q: Remove target creature with haste or trample from combat. It doesn't untap during it's controller's next untap phase. Flashes of lighntning, serrated blades, savage teeth and blood shot eyes? Nothing a well placed flood can't handle.
2/3
Torrid Knight :symr::symr:
Creature- Demon Knight [R]
When Torrid Knight comes into play, it deals X damage to each flying creature, where X is the number of non-flying creatures in play. Creatures damaged this way lose flying (This effect doesnt end at end of turn).
First strike, Haste, Protection from Blue
2/2
Gerodo, Barbarian Chief 3RR
Legendary Creature- Human Barbarian (R)
First Strike
Spells and abilities cannot be played during the combat phase.
3/3 "No trickery from you lot, cast your spells where I can see 'em."
To him,
Nothing has worth
Unless it belongs
To someone else.
It is not the lust for wealth
That drives him
Simply the hunter's thrill,
And the moment
Of acquisition.
Nothing is truly your own.
It is his –
Whether you know it or not.

The "P" in my name comes from a magicthegathering.com article in which they were contemplating adding a sixth color to Magic for Planar Chaos. here is a link to that article
@Glorious Gnome - Protection, especially pro red, is more of a General type of hoser as it shuts down multiple aspects of a red strategy. Shroud is the same, if not moreso

Bioplasmic Orb :1mana::symug:
Artifact Creature - Plant Mutant
Whenever damage is dealt to another creature you control, put a +1/+1 counter on Bioplasmic Orb. If the damage dealt was from a red source, instead put two +1/+1 counters on Bioplasmic Orb.
Graft 2 "It seems to react most favourably to the violent and savage. Suggestion: Leave this experiment in the Gruul Turf. If nothing useful occurs, at least it will be amusing." 0/1
Mind Scorcher 1RR
Creature - Elemental Shaman
Players may not draw cards. "Real men throw away logic and kick reason to the curb!" - Kamina, ace pilot 2/2
Since cards we used before are cool, I'll use this until I think of something better.
Manascrounge Pyromancer :2mana::symr:
Creature - Goblin Shaman
Whenever a spell you control is countered, you may have Manascrounge Pyromancer deal damage equal to that spell's converted mana cost to target creature or player.
2/2
I want to get confirmation that my card as it is now counts. I also want to curse Lorgalis for posting something that I had actually thought, and I'm referring to Magus for Gravity Sphere. After stealing my idea (which I hadn't posted anywhere, so you had to have hacked my computer) you made an improvement to it, so I guess I'll let you have it... for now!
1:symbr::symrb:
Creature-Human wizard
Whenever a player plays a blue spell, that player discards a card at random from his/her hand.
Whenever a player plays a white spell, that player loses 2 life.
1/1
Razormane Trapper 1WU
Creature - Human Rebel (U)
:sym2w::sym2u:, T: Return target attacking creature with haste to its owner's hand.
:symwu:, Return a permanent you control to it's owner's hand: Untap Razormane Trapper. "If the goblins has paused and thought for a moment, it would have be quite obvious they were running straight into a trap. Then again, these are gobins we're talking about."
2/2
Imo it needs to be less general.. but i'm not the judge here.. Maybe make it "When ~ comes into play, return target creature to its owner’s hand. Then return target red creature to its owner’s hand.".. Or just give it flash so it hoses haste more..
Flash had occurred to me too, that would make it not just a hybrid (U/R)Man-o'-War with better art. I think I'll change it to that now, with something else I had been wanting to fix about it, but ultimately I feat I'll have to scrap the idea all together which I feel is a shame.
Hmm, in my translator (eng-span) "hoser" comes fro that thing u use for weting the garden. So, I'm not sure about what do u mean with it. I asumed u mean that we should make a card that hates the other color but in an indirect way, like hating the main effects that cards has, instead of hating the color directly. I'm right? that's seems to be what the others did. :/ (too much colloquial I think)
I don't mean to cause any waves.. but the challenge clearly says "The challenge will be to create a red creature that hoses blue or a blue creature that hoses red"..

Oh well. Guess I should add legs.

I agree. I looked at the spoiler. Devour is not a uniquely red strategy, which makes your card is less of a red hoser and more of a devour hoser. Since devour was only given to red and it's allies, I'll allow it, but to me, your card is only a borderline red hoser.
