Welcome to MtGS Design Idol everybody. Inspired by a somewhat popular television show, We have done away with the judges and put this entire contest in the hands of the voters. Myself, along with JeroenC will take you on a journey of design that will only end when we have crowned our next MtGS Design Idol.
We have a great lineup of designers, so without further ado, here they are.
Howler13, the previous Design Idol, will be joining us in Round 2. returning players know what happens next, but for new players, Here's a quick review of the rules:
1: Have Fun!!!
2: Each round, except the signup round, will have a theme, and the contestants will design cards to match that theme. Early on the themes will be more open. In the later rounds, they will become more specific and challenging.
3: Each round will have 3-4 days to submit cards and 2 days to to vote for the cards.
4: Judging is only done by poll and the player[s] with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated each round. Polls will be anonymous and open to the general public. You may vote for as many, or as few cards as you like (including yourself).
5: Any player that doesn't submit a card for any reason will be eliminated. It's harsh, but necessary to keep the game moving.
6: If a player submits a card or cards that does not meet the challenge requirements, that player may receive a DQ and be eliminated. If possible, the player in question will be notified to try and correct the problem before the end of the round. If the mistake is not corrected or is not caught until after the voting has begun, then the hosts will decide if a DQ will be assigned.
7: The game will continue until we have a single champion... our Design Idol.
8: The winner of the last Design Idol will earn a first round bye into the next game should he or she decide to defend his or her title (this means only one player).
===========================================
Round 1 is our sign up round. It is an open challenge, players were free to submit any card they choose. Here are their entries, vote for as many or as few as you like.
Good Luck everyone!

10 Ace points to someone who makes a 0/Y creature
Idol holderNOTE: As always, SOME cards horribly worded gets votes, and cards tremendously overpowered as a couple there does too.
I think I don't share the criteria that manages some people here, and isn't funny to play pretending that everything is ok when you're watching clearly that u're not "the worst" but your entries finishes getting less votes than mediocre cards. (not people. CARDS). C'mon... my card is well balanced and is absolutelly original (and funny). I did spent more than 20 min in order to make the rule text, and it has less votes than some cards that... my God.
At least I want to see my entries losing just against better quality designed cards (I mean thoroughly designed ones).
I'm out of this. Sorry. Good luck for the rest.hmm... Not sure yet.EDIT: Oh, and sorry for leaving the "kind way" for a while, but I needed it. (Catharsis week)

...this poll makes me sad :(.
I guess my card was overpowered... or something.

I can do that
DEMONIC EVIL CARDNAME!! OF DOOOM 1BRR
Legendary Creature - Devil/Demon/EVIL DOOM
Haste
Shadow
0: ~ gets +2/+0 until end of turn. At the end of this turn you lose the game.
Some Diabolicle flavor text b/c I have plenty of room....of doom.
0/2
The idea is that if your opponent doesn't have removal you win...if he does you lose! (you can't stilfe 10 activations....wait maybe. but that's alot of mana and there are better ways to win with that much mana...say blaze?
Sigil: an MMORPCCG ">Mexus: An MMORPCCG

The "P" in my name comes from a magicthegathering.com article in which they were contemplating adding a sixth color to Magic for Planar Chaos. here is a link to that article
Considering that you get counters whenever cards are drawn and two when spells are played (once for movement to stack, and again to graveyard) I would say so. Just assuming your opponent draws a card and plays a land then you do the same gives 3 +1/+1 counters before the next change to attack. Spells will be played in between, so this can get rather large. Cumulative upkeep isn't relevant so much because you can just choose to not pay it and keep the +1/+1 counters, and let's not forget that there is no shortage of ways to remove +1/+1 counters for effect.
Edit - When is the deadline for round two? I hope it hasn't already started because it would be pretty aggravating for someone to have made a card only to find out they were eliminated from the previous round's poll.
Yeah... I forgot the the option to simply not pay cumulative upkeep. The rest I understood while designing.
It is a large error.

It happens to everyone. Depending on how many people get cut each round you could survive. All that matters is being not in the bottom so many. Following Ace couldn't have helped though.
BlackBull, excuse me if Im misunderstanding your card, but as it's worded, the bird house will blink when the token itself produces comes into play. In other words: for just you are getting a 1/1 with flying every turn from turn 1 on, and the only possible way of stopping it is by casting shock or terror on the birdhouse in the tiny window of chance between it coming into play every turn and its token coming into play. Bitterblossom looks unplayable next to this.
How many participants will be disqualified in the first round? Not many people liked my diabolic tutor that can become bribery
Got my vote purely because it dealt with something unusual, and dealt with it well. Anything that makes me step back and think about a section of design is worth a vote.
