Zolo, Combat EscapistGUR Legendary Creature - Viashino Ninja
Prevent all combat damage dealt to creatures.
Whenever a creature becomes blocked, it deals damage equal to its power divided as its controller chooses among creatures blocking it. Whenever a creature blocks, it deals damage equal to its power divided as its controller chooses among creatures it is blocking.
Mill cards equal to Zolo's commander tax: Put Zolo onto the battlefield from the command zone. 1/1
Much like Mana Burn in the past, I thought about trying to bring back an old ruling that was discontinued in the form of a Legendary Creature for EDH / Commander along the same vein as Yurlok of Scorch Thrash for Mana Burn. This time it's based on putting combat damage on the stack. For example during Kamigawa Standard If an opponent attacked you with a really big creature you could block with Sakura-Tribe ElderAND sacrifice it to search for a basic land and put it onto the battlefield tapped. Another example is an old combat trick with Mogg Fanatic back when it was legal, your opponent swings with a 1/1 on the ground and you block with Mogg Fanatic to put the combat damage on the stack by trading damage with the attacking or blocking creature while also dealing 1 to any target essentially killing two birds with one stone. Qasali Pridemage used to be really good with this as well.
I also wanted to try to explore other combat tricks aside from Ninjutsu which is a staple for the Ninja tribe as well. I didn't exactly knew how to word the ability for Zolo, Combat Escapist and had a hard time coming up with a clever name for the card. The idea was to bring back one of many rulings that Wizards of the Coast / Hasbro officially discontinued that they felt complicated the Standard meta by dumbing down Paper Magic while reviving it in an EDH / Commander setting that rewards players who want to relive the days of when the game felt more skill based. Mana Burn was one of the first of many skill based mechanics that got the axe by Wizards of the Coast / Hasbro which they brought back in the form of Yurlok of Scorch Thrash in Commander Legends. With Zolo, Combat Escapist I tried to design the ability with more of a group hug aspect though I'm not sure If it's good enough for cEDH.

How about:
Prevent all combat damage dealt to creatures.
Whenever a creature becomes blocked, it deals damage equal to its power divided as its controller chooses among creatures blocking it.
Whenever a creature blocks, it deals damage equal to its power divided as its controller chooses among creatures it is blocking.
How about:
Prevent all combat damage dealt to creatures.
Whenever a creature becomes blocked, it deals damage equal to its power divided as its controller chooses among creatures blocking it.
Whenever a creature blocks, it deals damage equal to its power divided as its controller chooses among creatures it is blocking.
This wording is more reasonably templated than the original. There are some odd corner cases like this damage actually happens in the declare blockers step while unblocked creatures will damage players in the normal combat damage step and it makes trample not work, but its about as close to "damage on the stack" as you can get with a card.
I had no idea what your card did until reading your explanation. I think a cleaner fix would be "Creatures can't be destroyed by damage during combat." This replicates essentially all of the value of damage on the stack by allowing you to act after the damage has been dealt. I'm sure there are corner cases where you get different results but I believe for the most part it accomplishes the same thing. Also hoses first strike.
Went ahead and changed Zolo's power and toughness to 1 so he's easier to trade with in combat. Thinking about adding in an ability that helps get around Commander Tax although that'd probably be too broken similar to Derevi, Empyrial Tactician where you can pay mana to put Derevi onto the battlefield from the Command Zone.

I'd recommend first actually fixing the wording of the card to the one Tetza suggested so that it actually works. Because right now it doesn't actually work.
After that, any other ability you add (unless you remove the sacrifice ability) won't fit on a card unless you're going down to Ice Cauldron sized font.
