Lotus Seed0
Artifact 1, T: Put a Growth counter on Lotus Seed.
Remove a loyalty counter from a planeswalker you control: Put a growth counter on Lotus Seed. T, Remove three growth counters from Lotus Seed and sacrifice it: Add three mana of any one color.
Let's ignore the mistakes of our fathers and make more fast mana artifacts! What could possibly go wrong? Granted this one is locked behind a mana investment of some kind. What do you think? I thought of making a DFC version that transforms when it gets to 3, as well.
It definitely doesn't need to be a DFC. You don't need the extra text space, its not drastically changing characteristics in any way, and all it does is get sacrificed, so a back side doesn't really add anything.
You're either a turn behind so you can spend 5 on turn 3 or 7 on turn 4 once, or you get three mana once you've already stuck a walker, possibly at the cost of that walker. I like the idea of using loyalty as an alternate cost, but I don't think this is the "iconic card" to put the ability on. I'd rather see spending the loyalty to turn a Jace's Ingenuity into an Ancestral Recall or something like that.
Seems fine. I'd probably make the name something more planeswalker-y if you have the loyalty removing ability or maybe some neat flavor text like, 'In times of great need the Lotus was known to find other sources of mana to feed from'
If I saw this as a release, I probably wouldn't be wow'd by it.
I think it wants to be more autonomous and interactive.
"As an additional cost to cast ~, exile a Planeswalker you control or a Planewalker card from your hand or graveyard."
Probably wants the name changed to Lotus Bed then.
I would probably make the Lotus Seed tutor for something? It wants to be unique.
Lotus Seed0 Artifact
, Sacrifice Lotus Seed: Search your library for a card with a mana ability, reveal it, then shuffle your library and put that card on top. "Singularity breeds appreciation, yet abundance breeds pleasure. It is a divine object torn between two different worlds."
"It is a divine object torn between two dramatic worlds—appreciation and pleasure."
Looks fine. It's a nonabusive lotus card. Could stay as is, but the name doesn't reflect the second ability at all. That is the only tweak I see needed.

I was thinking it as "the planeswalkers are helping you grow the seed with their mana," and flavortext might be able to connect that. I did not feel like writing flavortext for it, however.

That's kind of a cool idea for a card. Kind of like an Imperial Seal that costs one less, but narrows the search a lot and makes you reveal as a consequence. Gets a lot of busted mana rocks in Commander and I think it'd almost certainly see play in Modern Tron decks but I'm tempted to say that it's a borderline fair card.
Flavor text actually would fix the issue. Sometimes they do this... Although it's more rare.
Second version seems broken! Yes it puts you off going off the first turn. But my deck has 5 Black Lotuss. Or can just cycle a Wraith or Probe to draw it. It would have to be restricted in Vintage upon print. If that's cool with you then it's kinda fine in recent formats.

I could see that card happening, Shared Discovery is somewhat like that.
