Unlike Trump Wall, trump cards are not a reference to Donald trump. They are actually an addition to a format I play every week. Commander. The format is fun and I like to add more every now and then, just to shake things up. So i added a card type I call Trump cards.
Trump cards not use the stack (And thus cannot be responded to, countered or removed from the stack in any way)
Trump cards have a clause on a requirement to use them and since they are used up, that is it. you can only use a trump card once per game. Since they are not in a zone they can also not be discarded or stolen.
So I am looking for effects. One trump card was basically Timetwister, which is a great effect, but a little too overpowered when another trump card was just a Fog effect. (Granted if you are at 11 life,only going to 10 is pretty good if they "alpha strike" you)
I really want there to be a fair payoff to play these. I plan to print out a playset and sleeve them up so Each player can pick one trump card to play with and set the others aside, meaning more than one player may have the same trump card. Which also means I only need about 5 or 6 trump cards total. (last time I had 10 but they were unbalanced, and you chose at random. So the card you got may not have helped you in any way. A dragon deck that has expensive creatures coming out will not like a trump card that is basically a Damnation. Granted a creature less deck may love it since they are not losing their stuff. (not having creatures))
Given the additional cost attached, and the fact that trump cards can be played any time as long as you've got the health, I think they should be cards that set up a situation in which you can win quickly, but don't guarantee the win by themselves. So board-wipe effect like Damnation are good, but plague wind would be too strong as it sets you up to win right then and there if you've got a big enough boardstate. One thing you could do is look at the [color] sun's zenith cards and make trump cards based around their effect with a set value for X. That'd give you a creature tutor, a board-wipe, card-draw and token generation. I'd skip the red version, as that one could win the game by itself if it did too much damage.

Obviously make all of them colorless so that any deck can use them and/or whatever you need to do to make them proper trump cards.
They are colorless and have no Mana cost.
It's not over yes has weird wording and kind of defeats the purpose of a trump card.
