It's been awhile since I have posted in the Custom Card Creation Forum. I've missed you all! Today I bring you guys a new concept, or, rather a tweak on an old concept. I've always been a fan of the idea of the Duel Deck Series, but felt that most of the time it lacked proper execution. What I plan to do is create a new set of Duel Decks to revitalize the series.
My Duel decks will contain two 60 card decks featuring new custom cards as well as old reprints. Additionally, the decks will be singleton, meaning there will only be one copy of each card. The idea behind this is that you want to play these decks as if they were Brawl decks. This gives the players an introduction to "Commander" as well as gives them a starting point to make a full-fledged commander deck eventually. Each deck will contain a Mythic Legend that will serve as a Commander.
The theme of my newly proposed Duel Decks will be CTHULHU; Horrors vs Investigators.

Legendary Creature - Elder Horror (Mythic)
Whenever Uthraxis, Awakened Nightmare enters the battlefield or attacks, each opponent puts the top card of their library into their graveyard. Until end of turn, you may play a card from an opponent's graveyard without paying its mana cost.
Whenever Uthraxis dies or is exiled, you may put it into its owner's library third from the top.

Uthraxis is very, very underwhelming. The ETB ability is virtually fetching a land and then all you get a is mere 1 card per turn from opponent's graveyard. And since you have to pay for the card, depending on your hand and on mana base there's no advantage at all. And this has no evasion or any sort of resilience and it's main ability gets shut down by graveyard hate.

Yeah, I made up a similar concept back before Brawl was even a thing and formulated it as something akin to "making Duel Decks singleton, so they can form the foundation of a Commander deck that just needs to be scaled up". Having a sixty card singleton format actually made this concept much more convenient to me. Though admittedly I never quite got around to making all my Duel Decks singleton, because I like having commons actually be common when I design these.

Hmm Alright. Any suggestions on how to make it a little more juicy? I was throwing around some ideas on how to make a big/bad Cthulhu style monster, and this was the simplest design I could come up with. If it makes any difference, there is a slight hand distruption/mill theme to the Horrors deck.
What about making it a Level Up creature where the theme is, the bigger the level the close to Doom you are.

Well I imagine UB Cthulhu deck mill deck will for play Glimpse the Unthinkable and Traumatize. Cthulhu should also be a big monster and a big monsters should act like a pay off for those mill effects.
